Withdrawed FD from Affin. When I told them Bank Islam offered 12 m 4.5%, the officer went to see their manager, but they unable to give me that rate (for sure biggrin.gif )

Affin current rate is 12 m 4.1%, Invikta is 4.2%.

Went to Bank Islam for 12 m 4.5%, their process a bit weird, after the counter gave u the FD cert, has to go to customer service to sign (electronically).

Anyway for 4.5% nothing to complain about.

Today went to AmBank to terminate FD. Though it is not the branch that FD is placed, was able to terminate the FD, unlike some bank's restriction of terminating FD of <50k (or must terminate in the same branch where FD is placed). This FD is slightly higher.

The AmBank current FD for 6/12 mths is 3.75%. The ABM asked from HQ and got 12 mth 4.1%. But still cannot fight with BI 12 mth 4.5%.

Then waited for the Rentas to reach BI. Found that the maturity date is moved to 10/6/2024. So BI same as BR would move FD to a working day as 8/6//2024 is a Sat. This is better than some banks like Affin which will not move the date and will not pay for the weekend "losses".

I stated before. Do not assume BI does this automatically. Their system does not do that. It depends on the person opening the FD. So for the rest please remind them. Affin will pay. You need to set to auto renew, then the next working day go withdraw. Remind the counter people. I have had many Affins FD done this way. So far only RHB is the most strict. Even PB pays for the weekend abeit at board rate.
*
Your experience with BI on Sat FD maturity, is it recently or some time back when they have FD promo ? Today I also placed 1 FD in BI and again
the maturity date adjusted to the Monday. It seems to me more likely to be system generated. They may have updated their system since your last
encounter.

Though it is a good idea to check the maturity date at time of placement to see if we get into the Sat/Sun/holiday maturity date.

Affin wise, your method seems good. But some banks does not allow us to choose for FD promo, whether we can choose to auto renew or on maturity to go
to SA (for principal and interest). Not too sure for Affin on this aspect (I thought it does not allow auto renewal for Affin ??). BI wise for this promo, I asked
for termination but was told it will go to auto renew on maturity.

BI OTC FD can terminate online if needed. Which is convenient in case of need.

Their paid profit/interest shown in the FD cert., for next years maturity, it did show additional days (to working day say Monday) additional interest. Also they use 365 instead of 366 for next year. Another plus point for them.

Saw quite some Chinese in BI, looks like words are out that they have the best rate for now !

terminate online mean can credit to saving acc without need to go to branch and transfer out from BI directly via online?
*
Yes. Can terminate FD online to SA. Then if <50k, can just xfer out without need to go to branch. Or do 2 times in 2 days if <100k. biggrin.gif

Yes, placement OTC and can withdraw online.

Need their GO app to approve the online termination. But nothing too difficult using the GO app.

Long-awaited announcement from BR. Above market average, but well below BI.

Are these rates negotiable, based on amount? smile.gif
*
U can always try....... smile.gif

Not bad rate... Still above than others but still below market leader BI 😉

Only good is monthly interest given 👍
*
Yes the mthly interest make it better than BI in a way. Also cannot pump too much into 1 bank........ biggrin.gif

Yes. Needs to spread the $$$..
Basic rule of "investment"... Cannot put all eggs in one basket 😁

But but but it's No PIDM protection which might make some to think twice 🤪

Well, this topic has been discussed so many times. I won't be deterred by the PIDM issue. It all up to the individual. tongue.gif

guys, my fd is due soon. do i have to visit the same branch where i placed the fd for withdrawal? i realized theres another branch nearer to me after deposit == its ambank btw.
*
For AmBank can withdraw from any branch irrespective of amount, hopefully u are not talking in excess of 1 mil. biggrin.gif But depending on banks, some require
u to do FD withdraw from originating branch, some set limits from other branches.

Yesterday went to BR to place 12 mths 4.22% with mthly interest. Though BI 4.5% is highest, but cannot put all eggs in a single basket... tongue.gif

BI online TDT withdrawal works. I did that once. But u need to approve the transaction in their app.

AmBank promo, fresh fund only.

FD : CASA
50:50
FD 12 mths 6.86%
CASA earmark 12mths
Effective rate up to 4.30%

Add: Note depends very much on your CASA account earned interest, if not effective rate is LOW, like 3.43% onwards.

Went to ask AmBank Bangsar branch about the promo.

Highly secretive, would only let me glance at the printed promo (supposedly "internal"). Also did not give details of how to earn 4.3% effective rate, except to say will need to deposit around 500k to get this rate. This requirement is just too high for me .
*
Minimum has to be upwards of 100k to gain better CASA tiered interest, and higher effective FD rate. So not a good deal unless u want to place high 500k's or so.

Or are you referrring to the statement not attrative? I actually agreed with you. You also found it not attractive. Nothing wrong posting it.

Ya, the FD rate of OCBC is not attractive. Promo rates are getting lower recently. Just has to wait and see BNM's next move in Sept.
