For all its shortcomings, MBSB system auto adjust maturity date to Monday. Though it would has been better to have done it during placement time, but it could be system improved after FD placement.
Anyway if extra 1 day interest is given on Monday, no complaints ! |

QUOTE(CommodoreAmiga @ Oct 30 2022, 11:09 AM) As long they pay more, extra a few days also ok lah. I think Ambank also auto adjust like that. Extra 1 day already good, extra few days, hahaha !Btw, the Bank Islam CS said can only withdraw day after maturity? Sounds like BS to me. Anyone any ideas? From previous experience, same day can withdraw. Last visit May 2021 with their "Go 7" (or another name campaign ?) eff. rate 4.65%. CommodoreAmiga liked this post

QUOTE(CommodoreAmiga @ Oct 30 2022, 11:44 AM) My only complain about them is they reluctant to issue banker's cheque, claiming troublesome. They prefer to do Rentas/IBG. Anyway one time I insist on the BC, other times got Rentas done there. Few maturity dates. |

QUOTE(bamboo1 @ Oct 30 2022, 07:59 PM) I encountered this recently (Can't remember which bank), they also tell me to do RENTAS. I asked them "why? You no longer issue cheque?" They said Bank Negara tells them to as they want to limit cheques usage, not sure if this is true. Yes, I kind of heard that also, claiming trying to go "cheque less". Anyway u can insist to get BC if u want/need to. |

Yesterday in MBSB to withdraw FD, Rentas to B Islam. MBSB officer asked about BI offer. MBSB 3.9% 12 mth was the best about 2 weeks ago, overtook by BI. Went to Citigold to get free parking. Yesterday last day as CB in Malaysia, asked the Citigold centre remain open for now. Next day UOB already. Anyway already got account in UOB also. In BI, though has to re-open FD acct again, took about 1hr 15 min to get FD cert !! Due to Monday, very crowded in the afternoon. Staff is friendly and courteous. Found that BI different branch in Penang has different policy. Some branch can accept cheque and issue FD cert the same day. Asked the branch manager, still said his branch still need to wait for cheque clearance to issue FD cert. What an SOP for the same bank !! CommodoreAmiga liked this post

QUOTE(joeblow @ Nov 3 2022, 03:14 PM) You use rentas method? Within few hours transfer complete? Anyway BI told me they will take 1 to 2 weeks to revise, and may not revise also. MBSB has a better chance to revise since they are buying someone. Yes, Rentas in. Rentas for some banks like a "flash", just walked out of the bank, the other side received. Some banks took 2 to 3 hrs to receive. But I guess few factors come into play. Just check online before u go to place new FD.Today BI relatively fast, less than 30 minutes to get the cert. Less people and also FD acount (reopened) opened on Monday. QUOTE(elea88 @ Nov 3 2022, 03:15 PM) Not a bad idea. But will let later funds enjoy the higher rate. |

QUOTE(CommodoreAmiga @ Nov 4 2022, 10:13 AM) The 4.8% was board rate or promotion? I have never place FD so long. Next year if can reach 4.xx to 5%, maybe worth to put 5 years. Got promo for 5 years? Promo rate, some taikor got slightly higher like 4.85% 61 mths monthly interest. Well can go for retail bonds even higher payout QUOTE(Human Nature @ Nov 4 2022, 10:54 AM) Haha, yesterday at 2.30pm, my dilemma as OPR announcement not done yet. Still placed in BI for 12 mth 4.2%. UOB 12m 4% seems decent esp if want to spread out the eggs .......................Was in UOB yestreday to collect RM800 voucher, but BI 12m 4.2% irresitible! |
