Can complain to BNM? I thought it's mandatory to state effective rates.Fixed Deposit Rates In Malaysia V. No.15, Strictly for FD Discussion Only

QUOTE(BWassup @ Oct 8 2022, 05:44 PM) Versa rate valid for 1st 30k only tho. KDI interest is daily compounding.Compared to these rates, the current Bank 3 month FD rates are not competitive. And without the added benefit of flexibility of withdrawal at any time. Do KDI Save and Versa pay interest monthly? And there are no management charges or withdrawal fees? Monthly statement sent by e-mail? |

Don't see why KDI Save and versa is an issue. It is almost FD like in nature (other than no PIDM) and is superior in many ways. Just playing FD without looking at MM to balance portfolio when time is right is not very smart.

QUOTE(Lazygenes @ Oct 9 2022, 05:10 PM) Anyone has experience with RHB FD maturing on weekend like today? Mine has not credited to savings account. Was wondering if it will only update on Ta working/business day i.e. next Tuesday? Thanks RHB penipu scammer wan, Regardless holiday or what. It's always next day only can withdraw, me too have an RHB FD matured today. If you withdraw today, all interest songlap by RHB. I have accounts with over 10 banks (lost count), only RHB is like this. |

QUOTE(TOS @ Oct 9 2022, 04:33 PM) There are many types of MM funds. Some are purely FD like in which the funds only invest in deposits of banks with varying maturities, then it's considered purely FD like. Some of the Banks Term Deposit also not insured by PIDM if i am not wrong. Everyone talking, no issue. Some however went into short-term commercial papers or treasury bills or even <5 year corporate bonds. Versa and KDI fall into this category. Government T-bills are still comparable to FD (banks and insurance companies like them a lot). Commercial papers and <5Y corporate bonds are certainly not FD-like in any case. For example, these are very vague statements. No numbers to support. No detailed fund composition breakdown shown. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Another tip: Whenever you see the word "enhanced" in the fund name, immediately suspect the addition of short-term bonds to boost return. Otherwise, the rates would be no better than FD. The promotional trick of Versa and KDI is to mix up these "enchanced" products with FD and lure you to think they are comparable to FD when they are not. Be careful of these marketing gimmicks. |

QUOTE(Lazygenes @ Oct 9 2022, 09:58 PM) Thanks, managed to uplift the FDs through RHB's new online banking site and it works, got the interest. Old internet banking website did not have the uplift button. Appreciate the info. I use new website never see any uplift button? Is your FD auto-renew by default? Mine was auto-renew. |

QUOTE(Lazygenes @ Oct 10 2022, 10:32 AM) I believe I set mine to credit to account when I place the FD. In the new website, I can see withdrawal button in the FD listing for all my FDs even if they are not due. I see. It's withdrawal button, not uplift. In old website, it was uplift. Anyway, i think is it because maturity falls on weekend? Hmm. |

QUOTE(James8899 @ Oct 12 2022, 10:15 PM) I went to PB and try to open an FD account( I already have saving account with PB few years ago and still active). The officer there take all necessary details and said I hv to wait up to 2 weeks to get the approval to open FD account, the bank will call me within this two weeks. The bank ask me to keep the bank draft first, when they call, then only bank in the bank draft. Why take so long to open an FD account ? QUOTE(!@#$%^ @ Oct 12 2022, 10:18 PM) QUOTE(James8899 @ Oct 12 2022, 10:27 PM) I think this is ridiculous. All FD account can be open immediately even by crappy banks like Affin, BBMB etc...PB is known to be efficient. Is there something we don't know in the story? How many millions are you putting in? Maybe too big amount need BNM approval first...just in case someone do another Najib. 😂 Also, why can't open online FD account since you already have a saving account? |

QUOTE(BWassup @ Oct 14 2022, 05:56 PM) Sifu, based on your expectations of further Ringgit depreciation, in your opinion, should we then seriously consider parking some funds in USD FD, the rate mentioned before as around 4% for 6 months? USD increase the rates, but US Bank FD rates I believed is still quite low. They are not following up. So check carefully first. You can discuss this in the foreign FD thread.Possibility of capital gain (but also a chance of loss Hope this is not considered as going a bit out of topic. Apologies if so |
