Looking for new mpv and ERTIGA hit the right point. Cheap and have good fuel consumption, considering fuel price might skyrocket. Who knows?

Did the test drive and as expected, NVH similar to Japanese car as it's basically 99% Suzuki. Even thou it's Suzuki Indonesia.

Did the DOOR SOUND test side by side with new saga, new persona, new iriz, and ERTIGA win hands down.

Put a deposit and waiting for my car to be register in 2017 since it's almost year end.

90% LOAN KUWAIT/BSN: 2.89 - 2.95%

I attach the Ertiga images that I sat during my Bali trip 2 weeks ago, it was nicely dressed up smile.gif

The drive could achieve 14km/litre in Bali kind of shitty traffic biggrin.gif

Omitting stability ctrl is a bad decision.

Ertiga engine is quieter, feel torquey for a 1.4L, compared to alza.

I think I would buy ertiga if stability ctrl was there.

My only option is now BRV. Stabilty ctrl std across all spec.

Does the rear one have blowers like exora, or just passive tunnel like cheap sedans?

Edit: Nevermind. I visited a showroom and had a good look at the rear cooler.

Nope. It has its own cooling coil. It does take cool air from front and then cool it again

Real man use Three Pedals! bruce.gif

The clutch pedal soft as pillow when you step on it.
Zero tiredness even in heavy traffic jam rclxm9.gif

Throttle response of Ertiger manual fast as 1.5 carburetor Wira manual.

I am a long time P1 Supporter even after a lot of brainwashing from P2 salesmen and Toyoi salesmen. Now. I am very frustrated. Even P2 jumps a step forward with the non - rebadge Bezza. Now. P1 who has already stop selling rebadge cars and already selling own cars has gone backwards and has gone back selling rebadge cars such as The Ertiga and The Perdana. So sad. I am disappoint. Can someone tell me why? I will never understand.

Competition and to remain competitive.
Btw, the Newest Perdana is not an entirely rebadged car; only handling , electronics and engine are taken from Honda. Exterior body is designed by Proton themselves.

Also it has to fight old Malaysian mindset - Proton Cars Sucks.
You give a rebadge car, the rakyat complain.
You give a completely in house designed car like Preve, still people complain.

What i noticed is that Proton likes to use European tech, of which some will appreciate some will despise. From what i see..Malaysians prefer Japs, no matter how lousy the design is.

i actually liked the Perdana because of its massive size, even longer than Camry and Accord.
but still people rather buy a Toyota or Honda. because of "Air Muka" mindset.

I mostly have forward thinking sort of mindset for the most part. I prefer originality. Going backwards by going back to rebadges is a big leap backwards. I prefer in house everything although Jap Engineering and Conti Engineering are better. Then only you can succeed.

actually proton car is good in terms of what is being offered, i mean what you get vs what you paid for.
However the weakness for proton car is the part reliability and the fuel efficiency of the engine.

Part reliability, proton car seems to be having comparatively higher failure rate compared to P2, or earlier failure, nonetheless the suspension and engine mounting of proton cars are superb compare to P2. Others are debatable.

Fuel efficiency, proton has no big backstage support in terms of engine development so they surely losing out a bit. When myvi deploys vvt, proton still proud with their iafm, when P2 raising up the bar with dual vvt (let alone that the engine is a decade engine from toyota though, but people still take it as a toyota engine), saga comes with vvt, in terms of engine efficiency, proton is like one step or half step behind, most of the time. Let's see how the new GDI engine performs. Is a brave move by proton actually. And risky as well.

The problem is the cost to build a car from scratch is very high, the sale number of proton now can cover the cost. And Proton had no cash now, so need government to pump money. Malaysia is small market, Proton either partner with big company or can expand market to other country only they can survive. But I support ur point that design a car in house, but reality is now Proton had no cash.

yes, it is cheaper than suzuki ertiga in else where except india.
but this mini mpv hardly save P1.
the newly BR-V seem sell much more units than ertiga.

A bit high but normal...Affin can get 2.9 if your document is strong..Other bank the lowest I can find is 3.05 for Bank Rakyat and Ambank..

There is only one thing holding Proton back. Stop forcing Proton to buy from 'selected' suppliers. Then can see dramatic increase in quality.

Hi, every Tiger (ertiga).
This is my third full tank of gasoline, 83 ringgits of Ron 95.
100 % City driving.
The average fuel consumption looks abnormal to me.

Rm83 for 446km per tank looks decent for city drive.
Pls note that the engine is still new and the meter indication is mainly average or correct at the time of driving.

Correct way to measure the fuel consumption is by pump full tank using the same pump at the same fuel station several time. Each time needs to reset the mileage travels.. Then, whenever it starts blinking pls fuel up.

Hi Ertiga Owners
I'm really tempted to buy this car but still doubtful. Can someone provide a short review?

However, my biggest drawback to purchase this car is the beige interior... how to maintain if there's kids? Sigh...why beige??
Surely the clean beige interior will never last 1 month from picking kids from school daily..

You could find the semi leather seat cover from mudah, there's an accessories shop selling that.

Ertiga is a good fuel consumption compact mpv, my worst fc was 15.4km/L when everyday mega traffic jammed right before CNY balik kampung times.
Best fc was 19.4km/l, and now is 17km/l with heavy foot.
Overall it's easy to steer, NVH better than Exora and Innova. Quite decent Japanese car.
Don't worry about the torque of car, I could climb Genting easily with 5 adults and luggages. (manual)

First service fees was about Rm246 with 5w30 fully Eo.

Oh...so do you think the auto will have enough power - ie. to climb up Genting with 5 adults?

Also, how do you maintain the inside of the car - like the side plastic of the door and the door sills? I'm still worried about the interior beige maintenance especially with kids and their school bags, etc... what can you use to clean the beige interior plastics?

Ertiga Auto should not be a problem to climb Genting, don't you feel torquey when test drive it?
I always using baby wipes to clean wherever kotor made by my 2 adorable monkeys tongue.gif
About the sills, there's also accessories shop selling sill plates for Ertiga, about 150 per pair.

Before Ertiga, I was driving Savvy manual, realized that if you could maintain certain speed at certain pressure to the pedal, you could achieve a good fuel consumption.
My best Fc on Savvy manual was 21km/L , 50% city 50% highway, 603km Ron 97 (Rm2.10 per litre)
user posted imagefree image hosting

And sometimes when you press the pedal, it does revving but the car doesn't moving fast, especially the 1st gear and 2nd gear.

So what I do is changing the habit of drive, barefoot, smoothly giving press to pedal.

i own Proton Ertiga and "Suzuki Swift (2008) still in very very good condition with normal maintenance, workshop ppl also say still like new one"

Review for Proton Ertiga
Build quality : good, dashboard, meter all same like suzuki swift 1.4
Interior Color : nice to look ,,,, nice to touch , once dirty ... u need to clean it (wrap leather lo)
3rd Row Legroom : comfortable because 2nd row can slide. After 2nd row slide , 2nd row still have a big space for legroom
Tech : a bit lau beh , no touch screen , no keyless , no reverse camera , no auto headlights but the headlight can adjust level.
Boot Space : without flip 3rd row, quite small but still enough for weekly grocery shopping , after flip 2nd row and 3rd row ... MINI VAN
Power : hmmm , enough for city and highway driving ... but of course can't reach 180km/h

the good thing is no rattling noise from dashboard or anywhere.
recommend to buy and very worth the price (u get big size of suzuki swift but cheaper than suzuki swift).
go test drive and you will know

Did test drive the BRV..handling n power just a bit better compared to ertiga. But the interior and how BRV looked on the road put me off..

yup , agree BR-V more power ..
i also go test drive BR-V .. but in the end still stick to Ertiga

1. 3rd row seat .. i don't like BR-V because need to squat
2. high clearance ... hard for 3rd row access and get down
3. It's Honda ... need to service at their honda service center . Suzuki can service anywhere tongue.gif
4. Honda is CKD Malaysia very bad quality. My fren compare his CKD City with Thai City side by side ... he say no eye see
5. 30k different .... and insurance price for every year also will be different.
6. BR-V look nice in showroom but look ugly on the road

managed to test drive one last week. surprised to watch the rpm climb everytime I put my foot down a bit, very responsive engine. though I felt a slight movement with my left leg touching the underneath cover, not sure if it was just my feeling.

there's a 2 part video on youtube (thai auto channel) comparing ertiga dreza and sienta. they did a very thorough test on both cars, a very good reference if you plan on getting a new small mpv.

I test driven ertiga a few times. NVH is surprising good for this b seg compact MPV. Felt better than sienta. If u looking for good NVH vehicle at 60k, u won't go wrong with ertiga.

Ertiga is a good car. As some Forumer discussed before , this vehicle does not include VSC ,that is a minus point . If not may people will buy it.
Same like new saga, if they want to beat perdua car, it should have all the safety features like Iriz. This is the overlook side from the Proton Management .

I went to test drive yesterday. My SA told me the same thing, free lubricants, parts & labour fees for 5 yrs or RM1500 rebate from Proton...
I need to find out more about this as well, sounds attractive.
But my SA told me parts do not include wear & tear parts, so what parts are included? oil filer, air filter etc??

Cool! It's more worth to take this free-service package rather than RM1.5K rebate!

Even it is taxi.. the exora rolling was incredible amazing.. me and wife were swinging at the rear seats.. imagine my wife was swing and rolled from right to left side against by body when the taxi made a narmal turn.. The speed was only 80..the whole car like wanna take off. Seriously.. no next time. I am not against proton fyi as wira and wajar still our only cars till date. Just sharing my experience.

no worries bro, i believe most malaysian have a common share of feeling on the quality level for proton cars, but for proton ride and handling, it should be ok. there's a BLM sitting in my house and i'm driving it everyday.
i suspect the absorber gone case adi. and you got yourself a lewis hamilton driver. Lol.... but bro, Exora is tall and the CG is high. If you feel uneasy for Exora, you gonna scream when you on Alza. laugh.gif

Ride: Good, drive like a car, even out bumps nicely
NVH: The engine is really quiet
FC: Unknown yet

My complaint:
Check the rubber at the top when get car...
Front brake disc cover too close to brake disc, make lots of noise. SC fixed it by just pulling out the cover a bit...

This mean the 2nd row legroom become less after the 3rd row folded right? How bad is it..does still offer enough room for adult?

Forgot to do test on that part when I went for test drive last time.

Any Ertiga owner can comment here?
*
remove 3rd row.
keep it at home.
get mad boot space.
20kg? weight reduction.
ditch the spare tyre and get a sealing kit.
racekar now.

my sister is looking at the persona, but ertiga is 12cm shorter.
the wheelbase is longer, sure, it's the same kerb weight too.
she drives alone though, but why not, if the fuel consumption is good.

Where did you guys buy the ertiga? Got any discount/promotional offer ka?

Because i check sometimes different location/SA have diff discount.

On carlist some i found 2k discount + 5 years warranty. But others remain at same price(either 1.5k discount or 5 years warranty).
So still finding which is the best sweat.gif

the 2k is extra out of their commission.
if you're paying a downpayment, consider getting the 5 year service.

I bought from a dealer from PJ. If you want, i can PM you her contact. My discount is 800 only but with few free gifts including full tank fuel.
Depends on how's the agreement between SA and you.

Some proton branch is running clearance stock promo for 2016 car, discount 6k but without free 5-yrs service...

EPAS: electric power assisted steering
EPS: electric power steering

Both are same. Just different in how people call it.

So far, no rattling issues when driving at rough road. The issue only happened during low speed turning. It sounds like metal chain vibrate, i am not sure what it is actually..

Maybe you should visit SC. Perhaps they can rectify for you. Plus you can test it at the SC just to be sure.

Not rattle when turning, just motor whining sound. Rattle when drive at rough road at certain slow speed only. Still finding the source. Most probably inside the door panel.

test drove last weekend.
it's ok.
feels bigger in person because of its tallness.
this thing is still shorter than the persona or mazda 3 hatchback. you can call this a hatchback with a slightly longer wheel base.
handling is ok, feels like a car, persona is better though.
acceleration is fine, it's not a racekar, but no problem getting to 110km/h. didn't go any faster though. that would be illegal. haha. i've driven slower cars than this.
revved it up to 4000rpm and you can feel the torque. not sure if it's fully laden though.
manual transmission should be better but didn't test.
better view out the window than a persona.
the seats are tall, so it feels a little like a van.

maintenance, if you buy now, before 30th of april you can get 5 years free service and warranty. the guy said the cost is slightly higher than other proton car because they use fully synthetic.
as for parts, it shares suzuki swift parts, minus the body panels. but unless you get a lemon, the expensive parts like gearbox will be at least 10 years away to be of any concern.

Is it comfortable? As in if the car passes pot holes or whatsoever uneven road.. Is it good? How does it compare to other car that you have/test drove?

the seats are tall, but i'm a tall person, so it doesn't really affect me much it just feels different.
as for soaking bumps it's pretty well controlled, persona is better, honda jazz is worse.

Shocking news!!!
I bought an Ertiga last month, and am entitled for 5 years free service.
Today I send my car for 1st service. Guess what! The service advisor told me that we only can "use voucher" (means free service) during every 10K KM services but the free engine oil in the campaign only last for 5K, which means on every 5K (i.e. 5K, 15K, 25K, 35K & etc) we need to pay for the service.

Good one Proton!

Meanwhile I am verifying with Proton Cars Facebook admin, still awaiting feedback from them.

You sure? Which service centre did you go?
Read your manual.. Regardless of what oil you used, it depends on the manufacturer service intervals. Maybe its just that SC trying to get more money..

Then we should follow service interval. Its just the service centre trying to con us into servicing every 5k instead of every 10k as per recomended by Proton/Suzuki.
If what the claim is true, then Proton is fooling everyone with their free service package if the free engine oil provided cannot last as per service interval doh.gif

Based on few pages back, the provided engine oil is Petronas Syntium 800 SE which is semi-synthetic.

According to paultan :

QUOTE
The range consists of three lubricants, the fully-synthetic Petronas Syntium 3000 SE 5W-30, the semi-synthetic Petronas Syntium 800 SE 10W-30 and the Petronas Syntium 500 SE 15W-40 mineral engine oil. These products are compatible with the 10,000 km service intervals of all new Proton vehicles.

Anyhow lets wait for the reply from the Proton Admin.. thumbsup.gif

According to Proton official FB's admin posting, the engine oil to be used is Syntuim 800 SE 10W/30 SN. This is a semi-synthetic engin oil. it should last for 10k.

In addition, according to our service book, the car is to be serviced by 10k interval and not 5k internal. In such a case, is proton authorised service center using inferior oil ?

Guys, please disclose the service centers's name.

manual say 10k.
dealer say 5k or 3 months.
for ertiga they use full synthetic, 5k life span is bull.
you can schedule 10k and 6 months. even the trip computer reminds you that. the dealer just want to make extra buck.
i usually went to mutiara damansara sc for my sister's iriz, they put up the shorter period on the sticker. no f%%% were given and ignored it. trip computer says otherwise, can't fool me.

but the SC said that actually we can skip the 5K one, but go to service BEFORE 10K or 6 months...

Are you guys sure the semi-synthetic Syntium 800 SE 10W-30 can last for 10k or 6 months? If yes, then should be not a big issue...

It is not the oil that matters.. Its how the manufacturer decides the interval based on your usage.

Check my post which i quote from Paultan, proves that the oil provided by Proton SHOULD last 10k which is same as the service interval eventhough the engine oil is mineral based.

In my receipt, it mentioned that my next service would be at 11K or 6 months later. I think system is honest enough... hehe

I guess I will just ignore what the advisor had told and the sticky reminder on windscreen.... case closed.

p/s you can know which SC from the receipt...

Mine less than a week. 350 Kms. Quality of driving is good and feel comfy and sturdy.

U will also feel l@ck of power when driving uphill with 2 adults. So I doubt it can go genting with 6 adults without struggle.

Overall is satisfied with this price tag. FC wise it is still early to guage

No worries. Under normal circumstances, u just need to step deeper of the accelerator for going uphill. The car can handle it but u will feel it is underpowered compared to alza

Feel under-power when uphill from slow speed. If speed was built up before uphill, no issue.

No.. There's no need to topup. It will not be called free service anymore.. The semi synthetic provided by the proton free service package is enough for us till 10k. Don't be fooled by the SC. Read what I post few post back..

Put aside to those issues.. Since you have been driving the car now.. Hows the drive? Comfy? FC good or not?

QUOTE(kokyee992 @ May 3 2017, 11:39 PM)
Mine less than a week. 350 Kms. Quality of driving is good and feel comfy and sturdy.

U will also feel l@ck of power when driving uphill with 2 adults. So I doubt it can go genting with 6 adults without struggle.

Overall is satisfied with this price tag. FC wise it is still early to guage
*
Car is tall & slim, parking is easy. Interior seats are comfortable and I personally like the beige color with the stripes which makes interior feel bigger.

FC around 12KM per litre (100% city road and most of the time driving uphill and caught in the traffic jam e.g. 20 mins for 1.5KM journey...)

Have to agree with kokyee992, driving uphill will feel lack of power, but if u press the pedal harder, u would feel the power (especially when RPM > 3), but then the downside is more fuel consuming.

Done my 1k service, now feeling car is more powerful. Overall it is a decent car to drive.

just topup for fully synthetic oil for 10k mileage lifespan.
just pay the difference only. last time i bought eb also same.

QUOTE(AMDAthlon @ May 6 2017, 08:22 AM)
No.. There's no need to topup. It will not be called free service anymore.. The semi synthetic provided by the proton free service package is enough for us till 10k. Don't be fooled by the SC. Read what I post few post back..
*
At first I have the same thought with riezzien, top up around RM80 for fully synthetic oil. But I read about the article shared by AMDAthlon, i think Syntium 800 SE 10W-30 is fine to last for 10K-KM, on the other hand, I could hardly drive 10K in 6 months time. So changing oil in every 6 months should be not an issue (where mileage < 10K-KM).

I just managed to get 10.7km/L fully city drive. Hope after 1st service it would be better.

Do you guys feel the reverse sensors are not sensitive enough? Like very close to obstacle it will only beep

Any comment on the car? Since at Indonesia ertiga exist for quite sometime already.. How does it compare to the Avanza? I've heard that over there people always argued which one is better.

Have you test drive Avanza before? Sorry to say but I did and that vehicle is the most saddest vehicle I have ever drove *no pun intended to Avanza owners* but that is my honest opinion. Ertiga I did test drove it not once but 3 times, however since I am solo, probably will get one after beranak pinak hahahhahha

Please avoid to buy Ertiga at all cost!
I tried to fill in Rm50 Ron97 last week (Rm2.49/litre), but it can last 437km with 40~60kmh in city; 90~100kmh in highway. That was ridiculous!
How can I accumulate petrol points with this car?

I bought the car in Jan, until now no any big problems.
Handling quite good for compact mpv, i tried to drive to Genting, the bodyroll is minimal if you compare with Alza and Innova.
And it's engine idle is so quiet that sometimes I really forgot and turn the key again....
When I drive, hardly to hear engine roaring, you have to step more deeper on gas, then you'll hear the engine sound after 3000rpm.
For manual, 110kmh is about 3500rpm. If you take auto , the rpm will be much lower, auto will be about 2800rpm.

My Ertiga is manual.
This is my best town fc during these few months, I had to control my foot to be feather light (not Durex punya feather light har).
Always kept RPM as low as i can, maintaining speed between 40 to 60kmh, RPM was about 1400rpm to 1800rpm, below 2000.

Hi Richarddrifter, how many adults you carried when you went to genting ?

Did the car struggle to go genting ? I feel it is underpowered even normal uphill say for a stretch of about 600 meter. When I pressed break then re accelerated again, the feel is more obvious

When I went to Genting, there's 3 adults --- me, my wife and mother in law; an eight years old kid and a toddler inside the car.
My ride was manual variant, so I can control the gear level as I want. It's smooth when climbing genting uphill, some road can even reach 90kmh.

Last time I drove Savvy manual, Savvy first gear and throttle are more tricky, maybe it gains some helps to me to control the Ertiga.

Thanks for the info. U should have well trained by savvy,😀😀. I still struggle how to manage it when it goes uphill. Next month, will go Taiping with parents, I think the uphill stretch of more than 10km from Ipoh to kangsar will put it into test.

Now I emulate Ur driving pattern keeping the rpm below 2k to check it can improve km/l.

Anyway ur km/l achieved should make u ertiga embassodor ☺☺

To achieve that FC , need to have a lot of patience.
40kmh is as slow as tortoise on the route, even my grandma drive faster than me. laugh.gif

Usually I can get 16.2km/L in urban under speed of 80~90kmh, if everyday pergi balik company trafic jam for half an hour on the Road.

As this time,i try to manage my depature time. Left my house around 5:30am to avoid morning jamm, and went back home after 7:30pm.

After all, I must say, this type of insane fuel save driving is a torture. sweat.gif

Very easy for you to DIY. If you go service centre, their solution for now being is adding some gum on it. shakehead.gif
Just a plier , a screwdriver, and a pair of new screw type hose clamp (Rm20) will do the magic.

Then, you find Obd port under steering.
Lastly, plug in then computer will tell you biggrin.gif .

Hey!Hey!Hey! Joking lah wei!
------------------------------------------------

Your reservoir tank will get less slowly, as my case, my water volumn from full to min in just 2 weeks!
Try to locate bocor place, but found nothing.
Luckily, last two days I found there's a coolant stain around radiator hose clamp.
Now, trouble free .

Hi Richarddrifter, how many adults you carried when you went to genting ?

Did the car struggle to go genting ? I feel it is underpowered even normal uphill say for a stretch of about 600 meter. When I pressed break then re accelerated again, the feel is more obvious

if u need that extra pickup, you can turn off OverDrive. so the car drop into gear 3 and you can have control like manual car

Popped up your bonnet, see to your right hand side.
You will saw a radiator hose which one side connect with engine while another side connect with the lower part of radiator.
There it is! bruce.gif

I heard service crews from plotong sc say this maybe the common problems of Ertiga. Now already have several owner kena already.
But they only can help you to report KL HQ , then put some two tonne glue on it sahaja. It maybe an error heritage from Suzuki Swift 1.4. Since HQ didn't mention solution or any others replace parts to resolve that problem. They can't do anything.
My advice is Better change yours before leaking.

I just noticed that Ertiga does not have auto lock door when brake pedal is pressed and auto unlock door when engine is turned off. Anyone here installed a module for this feature? If yes where to get it?

How to change your Ertiga Cabin Filter

First, open the drawer. Then just simply pull out the drawer, don't be afraid, there's no any screw around the drawer.
user posted imagepicture upload

After you pulled out the drawer, you will saw a cabin filter cover. There it is, it was just 2 simply clips at the side of it, open it.
user posted image上传图片的方法

At last, the cabin filter was in front of you.
user posted image上传图片的网站

You could change it to Swift 1.4 carbon cabin filter, coat you around Rm90.

Actually, I can't tell the difference between Ori cabin filter and OEM Carbon cabin filter.
I can't smell any smoke or odor from outside, before and after changing the filter.
Maybe the quality of Ori filter was already good enough for daily usage.

Im planning to get married next year. Going to use this car to commute to work alternate with my motorbike. What is your advise to a late 20's guy here

preve FC if city driving on the high side even for non CFE, but ertiga i heard from this forum mentioned can get 13-14km/l even in heavy traffic condition which is really good.. long distance easily 18-20km/l.. but preve do have better handling..

I am interested with Ertiga. But Quick question.. will the 2nd row be able to sit 2 or 3 person? Because I remember I heard somewhere that it should only accomodate 2 person at the 2nd row because of the seat belt (the middle seat does not have seat belt). If it is true, is there any possible way and legally add on the seat belt?

If you really want to fit in 3 adults at the 2nd row, it won't be a problem.
Indonesia Ertiga has a center lap belt at the center of 2nd row. But our JPJ new regulation, every new model cars must have 3 point seat belts for each passengers. So, Proton was forced to take out the center lap belt.

What you do is, go get yourself a set of center lap belt at spare parts shop, then apply it.
Legally or not, people doesn't care about it. Don't you see a lot of people u
using Myvi to carry 6 or even 7 peoples in one ride?
10 peoples in a Toyota Innova while Geran was written "7 seated vehicle only"

Anyone notice that the steering wheel doesn't return to position by itself after turning. Wonder if this is normal? Apparently someone told me this is safety related issue.

went for a test drive yesterday.
really impressed with this car, driving feels better compared to avanza/alza.
also the third row really good better than exora which is a bigger car. able to fit me comfortably, seat is nice but downside is beige color that will surely get dirty very fast.
engine is very silent. pickup quite good for carrying 4 people doesnt feel under powered, unfortunately didnt able to test on full load.

This is want i want to highlight!

The steering wont return to normal position. And no force feedback also. Very dangerous is low speed/parking maneuver.

Did my test drive in proton Cose.
Im not sure if its only test drive unit or common problem or normal.

My SA said, suzuki has checked the problem but...
i'll keep the story first...later kena sue..

But but Proton creates car for undeveloped countries biggrin.gif Just tested the Ertiga few hours ago, emm... a vee bit disappointed with the power delivery from the 1.4 engine.

But quite like the engine note (very very refined), suspension and the driving feel. It feels like a much bigger car on the road unlike Avanza or Alza or MYVI very floaty and unsettled.

After a week came another dealer offer free bodykit also but no picture on the ads....still dilemma...wanna buy ertiga or just 2nd hand mpv...

Does anyone got the same feeling as me that the ertiga gas pedal & brake is too centered?

I always got this feeling of awkward leg placement when speeing on the gas pedal.
There's once instant that i floored the gas pedal thinking it is the brake pedal during stationary when trying to change the gear from P to D doh.gif

Can mod the placement of the pedal to be left a bit?

I saw some dealer offer ertiga with complete bodykit. Its white colour. Thats amazing. Ertiga with bodykit memang menarik. Like almost Indonesia and Indian ertiga's user. But only saw this one particular dealer can provide it.
After a week came another dealer offer free bodykit also but no picture on the ads....still dilemma...wanna buy ertiga or just 2nd hand mpv...

wait for the real car with bodykit, then only decide.

My ertiga current average fc is 11.8, mainly city drive. Something wrong? I think mine is the worst if compared to fc reported from here. Car mileage just over 1000k now, will become better later after engine fully run-in?

might be...but heard NVH is good...
should compare with vios and perodua...see how
TBH, honest who cares...
you can add 2 point seatbelt.

but even now, who uses rear seat belt?
This is want i want to highlight!

The steering wont return to normal position. And no force feedback also. Very dangerous is low speed/parking maneuver.

Did my test drive in proton Cose.
Im not sure if its only test drive unit or common problem or normal.

My SA said, suzuki has checked the problem but...
i'll keep the story first...later kena sue..

Its not really an issue.. More like EPS characteristics. Same with Bezza and certain EPS based steering car.

Although Proton version of EPS is much better(Iriz and Persona), but Suzuki does not allow Proton to do any adjustment to the car.

I tested so far. tongue.gif The steering is ok leh.....It automatically become a bit heavier when speed up. Very much considering this guy now. But its 1.4L still hold me back and keep thinking...Buying car is very torturing sweat.gif
The seat is ok but feel dashboard a bit in high side. May go test again to conclude my feeling.

Owners here who already with it for few months how is the drive now? Will the car become weaker or engine sound louder how? Any vibration noise come out?

Actually, I can't tell the difference between Ori cabin filter and OEM Carbon cabin filter.
I can't smell any smoke or odor from outside, before and after changing the filter.
Maybe the quality of Ori filter was already  good enough for daily usage.
*
you know why? because those filter mean to filter the air inside the cabin
not the air from outside.. try to smoke inside the cabin with aircond then you'll see the difference sweat.gif

Two month now, so far all is good. I think engine is tuned in to my driving style & not that rev happy as initial. One particular thing I found out is the braking will become stiffen a bit during the engine fan turning & will soften as it stop. This more prominent during start stop driving conditions. This in return will cause a bit harsh stop when the fan suddenly off during braking. Other than that, all is good smile.gif

Hi guys.. I'm on my 2nd service soon..
On my first service I used the service voucher which used semi synthetic of course. But the next service milage shown on sticker is 6000km. However when I check the manual, service interval is on 10k km AND semi synthetic provided used by proton last untill 10k km too.

So in my case.. Should I go ahead and Service at 6k or just use untill 10k?
Because I'm afraid that if I go service at 6k I might be charged and not be able to use voucher.

Anyone can comment?

I have the same problem too. Very irritating. Tried to demo to service agent but failed. I noticed it when I first got my car. The shaking feels like a slow wobble. I could feel it too under harder acceleration at those speed.

Also for me I notice the RPM floats down up and down again during shifting. Is that normal?

Another issue I notice is that at full blast, you can hear the A/C blower going faster and slower at certain times. Anyone experience that?

Just realize no proper review for this car here yet, I'll do mine after 4 months of ownership biggrin.gif

Proton Ertiga 1.4 Executive AT

PRO
• Nice interior, all plastic & fabric is of better quality
• No instrument clutter, all info is presented in simple direct way and fuel & temp meter is in analog which is nice
• Comfortable seat, ample padding to back & thigh, ample legroom until the 3rd row for average Malaysian height (my height is 170cm)
• Having 2nd-row overhead aircond unit is a godsend, 2nd & 3rd-row passenger will be happy during hot weather.
• 2nd-row armrest adding to the comfort
• Ample boot space for light travel even with full (6-7) passenger, hidden compartment under the boot can add to the space.
• The seat can easily fold to accommodate extra space. HUGE space if all backseat folded.
• Smooth and silent engine but revvy in nature.
• Good torque until 100kmh. If you are aggressive to the gas pedal, this car will nonchalantly rev to 4000rpm (max torque output of 130nm) and over.
• Very good NVH, ride is very comfortable
• Door closing with a convincing ‘THUD’ sound which is giving an impression of quality.
• Have the switch for headlamp level adjustment
• Signal stick is on the right side which is convenient to use unlike the usual left side of Proton.
• A nudge on the signal stick will light the signal 3 times which is easy to use for changing lane.
• Fuel consumption as per many people claimed to be good but dunno why mine oni can get 11.7 km/l average sweat.gif

CON
• Door can be sticky to close especially the back bonnet door. Need to bang hard to get it closed.
• Beige interior albeit nice looking can be easily dirty. Applying fabric coating protection early on is recommended.
• Infotainment is a bit basic.
• The reflector on the back door (which connect the lamp to the chrome trim) looks like an afterthought job. Proton should make it functional or ditch it all together.
• Only 1 proper cup holder for the cabin side. The bottle holder on the door can be a makeshift cup holder but it’s a bit inconvenient to reach.
• The fog light switch is a bit weird as the switch on the signal stick is for the back fog lamp while for the front fog lamp you'll need to press the switch near the headlamp level adjustment. It should be the other way round I think.
• Sometimes the auto gear a bit late to downshift for more torque during hill climb even when u pressed hard on the pedal (D gear), sometimes it will rev all the way to 4k rpm and stay there without upshift even when you don't need that much of a torque (need to release pedal a bit and repress to initiate the upshift).

TO IMPROVE
• The Suzuki Ertiga on the Indian & Indonesia market comes with all the latest infotainments gadget and even push start button and proton should apply the same spec for the plus variant.
• Add VSC system
• Proton should bring the Diesel & Hybrid variant here, it will be selling like a hot cake!

Proton Ertiga 1.4 Executive AT
Agree with you that there is no real review out there. And I think your PRO/CON is spot on, but I'll like to add-on.

QUOTE(Buriburi San @ Oct 4 2017, 10:12 AM)
• Ditto on the plastic & fabric quality.
• The raised silver rim and transparent crystal number markers on the analog meters shines to nice effect during the day. The center digital meters always show the gear, ODO and clock, and a third toggle between range/km/l/A/B trip. Brightness is adjustable. Dig the analog fuel meter.
• Front seat fits snugly for my average thin frame. You won't be moving about when cornering. 3rd row seat is thick unlike some.
• It is possible for children to get down from 3rd row by sliding the 2nd row forward without getting down if you are lanky.
• Rear air-con blower is fully controlled from the back, but you can easily stretch you hand back to control it from the driver side.
• 3rd row is 50/50 split so you can fold flat on side for extra space sacrificing one passenger.
• Can carry long cargo like your IKEA shelf by laying back the left front and 2nd row (after removing headrest) and folding the 3rd. Still can sit 3 people.
• Drive gently and it is silent. In a hurry and the horses will come running.
• NVH is ok but have more roll than Alza. Kinda bumpy for the rear passengers over speed bumps. Have to be gentle. Alza fare better here.
• Ditto with the door closing solidly.
• Tapping the signal will signal 3 times, but you can hold it for longer and the signal will off immediately when released.
• Fuel consumption is good but doing 15km/l for my daily commute, but if you are not careful or in a rush, it could drop to 11km/l. Much better on flatter roads than on hilly roads. E.g. when travelling from Nilai, you get better fuel economy using PLUS compared to LEKAS.

QUOTE(Buriburi San @ Oct 4 2017, 10:12 AM)
• Ditto with the bonnet needing a bang to shut.
• Infortainment? It's only a basic CD/USB/radio. Don't even have Bluetooth. No factory upgrade option.
• Front air-con vent is disappointing as it is difficult to direct and air volume is low. Alza is way better.
• Ya only one cup holder and that is a bit deep to reach. Could be a problem if the cup is too full. Might block the 12v socket and USB. The door holder is more for mineral water bottles. Larger cup won't fit in level.
• Front fog lamp switch is on the panel instead of the light stick probably to maintain operation consistency with older models without rear fog lamp. The plus side is that I can use it to 'fake' braking for tailgaters.
• Agree with the gear shift thing, but it only happened to me once so far. Probably I'm more light footed.
• No rear demister but you have wipers. Rarely found them useful anyways.
• Rear cabin light is far back. Difficult to reach for 2nd row passenger.
• Front door step guard does not cover fully. You might get scratches on the paint.
• Careful when releasing the front bonnet stand or you'll get a dent. Should put some foam on it or else the service guys might put a dent on it.

Try demo only low speed . My they changed R side drive sharf .
But still shacking at speed 2 . Hope they can found the issue n solve the problem . Will complaint again . 5 years warranty ma .

I hv the same problem with the air con too .
What they did for yr car ?

Lets just say the tests road is a little too bumpy to demo properly...

I haven't complain yet since I just noticed it after first service.
So I'm trying to get feedback from other owners to see if it is a problem.

I just bought a Ertiga as company car to replace an aged Hyundai. And Personally my wife had a Alza (Yr 2010) before.

If we are to compare Ertiga with Alza, I think the ride quality is way way better than Alza. NVH is so much better. In Alza I felt like driving a stretched MYVI and ride is harshier. Driving the Ertiga feels like driving a Japanese C segment car. The suspension soaks up road imperfection way way better than Alza.

As for front aircond vent, emm you are probably right that Alza one is much easier to adjust directions. No regret buying Ertiga.

Why used fully synthetic though? Purposely or advised by the service center? Because according to Ertiga service manual, the semi synthetic is enough to cover 10k km. Which means the free service is enough to cover everything.
Any difference between fully and semi?

Hi Ertiga owners,

I have been driving an Ertiga for the past week, and boy am I surprised with this car. I have an Iriz and my usual ride, Gen2 CPS and am impressed that the handling is so similar with the Iriz for such a big car.

Quality is also leaps and bounds ahead of the Iriz with no rattling sound and solid sounding doors. The interior is spacious and the rear blower is awesome (better than b-rv which has no cooling coil). The large windows and comfy supportive seats make it a very nice place to be in. It's NVH is also awesome for a car at this price.

The things I don't like about this car is that the colour isn't the easiest to maintain, the boot is a joke with the third rows up, there's not much chubby holes for all my daily items and the car's safety and convenience technology is so year 2000...

Overall, really a value for money mpv... thumbup.gif

I think all the points you brought up is spot on.

I have driven it to Cameron Highlands with 4 adults and 2 pre-school. Handling is good. Went up by the less challenging Simpang Pulai and down by curved and bumpy Tapah. Drove with conference. The seats kept me in place.

I think most of us have the red colour, while the tone is excellent but terrible in current rainy season. Kinda think gray might be better.

Space for passengers is good, but for cargo not so if it is larger than a 2kg Milo bag. There are extra space for smaller items under the front, 2nd and 3rd row.

And yeah the accessories and tech is so 2000, same compared to ERV…

I'm considering roof rack for longer trips… any suggestion where I can get them?

We went to Telok Gong for seafood over the weekend and the NVH was excellent for the price while the drive was relaxing and comfortable, that is if you’re seated up front!

Third row comfort was horrible in the sense where the ride was so bumpy, anyone who sat behind had motion sickness!

Still couldn’t get the alleged awesome FC...has been maintaining 12km/L. I guess I’m still not used with the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal...

Sorry, couldn’t help much with the roof rack (i only know Thule, but that costs an arm & leg) but I saw one of the member here had them installed...hopefully he can help you out.

The one I’m driving is red too, and there’s some problem with the paint work (rough on the left front door, right below the window)... Any light shower and the car looks as if it went through the Borneo safari... tongue.gif

I'm also having some interior fitting quality issue during receiving my car.
Luckily proton is quick to rectify and fixed it so I'm not making any fuss of it (still taking almost 3 weeks for parts tho)

I'm also having some interior fitting quality issue during receiving my car.
Luckily proton is quick to rectify and fixed it so I'm not making any fuss of it (still taking almost 3 weeks for parts tho)
Have you bring your issue up to your service centre?
*
Haiz..waited 3 week for the parts too..when rush them they just say the car still new so be patience for the replacement..

Wow exactly like mine, but mine effected until the cover near the passenger leg cabin apart from that area. Proton really need to improve their quality control. Not that this car is in really hot demand that they need to rush the assembly.

Last time my SA said it will be the labour fee, engine oil & filter and whatever item to be changed according to the service schedule of 5 years but I think the engine oil is semi synthetic & you need to topup abit for fully synthetic. Better if you can call and ask them to explain it fully. I'm being sucker for moneh took the rebat options instead biggrin.gif

Based on the Ertiga Service Book, Semi is actually enough. Means even using semi it can last untill 10k.
Some may opt to fully maybe because fully has better additives compared to semi. But for cheapskates like me, free service is enough i guess laugh.gif

Recently my reverse sensor is acting weird. Sometimes it will beep continuously when engaging reverse gear even tho there's no hazard behind.
This will happen once and then next time it will return to normal again. Bring this up at SC during 10k service and they said it's difficult to asses the problem as the reverse sensor is acting normal during the test & and better to wait until it's really problematic before change. I found out that there's also a similar case like me reported at the SC. Is this a common problem with ertiga? Anyone experience the same?

Yes, my car just started to act the same way since the last 2 weeks...

I noticed that after I turned OFF the engine & then started the engine again that weird beeping when in reverse gear vanish...

But still, it would happen again sometimes after I drove the car for awhile & doing reverse parking

It will be hard to show that problem to SC sure, guess need to wait till it happen again and then drive straight to SC without switching OFF the engine beforehand.

It's a bug in software I think as it can be solved with simply on off the engine.

Hopefully drive straight to SC without appointment will work, depends on luck I guess sweat.gif

So it can be used for charging as well? coz I saw from some advert saying may charge 3 devices at the same time, and shows it charging a phone there.
Attached Image

By the way, can it be used for playing mp3 stored inside a phone? Is it smart enough to locate the music folder in our phone? Or only recognize USB pendrive from the root folder ?

Never experience when accelerating or making U-turns but the only time that I can feel it shaking quite a bit is when climbing those spiral parking ramp with traction thread on the floor. It feels as if the car suspension cant handle this kind of bumpiness and shaking like a blender.

That is because the suspension is harder than usual but still got some comfy in it.

Going for 195/65/15?

The ertiga suspension is very soft imo. I suspect it is caused by the imbalance of vibration between the inner suspension versus outer suspension when turning on bumpy road and it amplifying the car body roll.

Is that the same size as current tire? I'm planning to maintain the size of the current tire as it is super comfy for me.

Stock setting is 185/65/15 which I personally felt a bit too small and less grip, just wondering anyone tried 195/60/15 or 195/65/15

i'm torn between alza and ertiga to be used primarily for e-hailing. as far as recommendations and readings go, all pointed to ertiga, one big point being eev mpv. my concers is low adoption rate of ertiga and the somewhat small boot at the back if 3rd row seat being used. what says you guys?

Loan was calculated before the new raya promo so it was 90% from the full price of 64.8k which result in 680 monthly payments. Becos of new promo I'll have to wait for loan adjustment probably 90% from 55k instead.

Need to check next week. Then kena cuti lagi to sign new agreement then tunggu lagi baru dapat kereta. If new loan 90% from let say 57k, I think I will save about 8k during the 9 years loan tenure.

i'm torn between alza and ertiga to be used primarily for e-hailing. as far as recommendations and readings go, all pointed to ertiga, one big point being eev mpv. my concers is low adoption rate of ertiga and the somewhat small boot at the back if 3rd row seat being used. what says you guys?

Attached Image

what's the one in blue circle? hidden storage compartment?
*
Thats just the popup cover to make the connection seamless from the boot to the 3rd row seat when u lower it down. The hidden compartmen is under the boot floor itself which is a falsefloor.

Only part that alza seems better is;
i) Infotainment, reverse camera etc. (spent some 1k-2k on the ertiga can get same result)
ii) Looks (subjective to owner)

What the ertiga can offer is much more than alza and cant moded to be comparable no matter how much money you throw on it.

otr price was 56k after minus gst, rebate, ncd transfer and 4k raya discount from original 64.8k price for executive plus model. dashcam cheap model only about rm200, the one with camera and screen on rear view mirror. loan amount was 55k so I pay only 1.1k for downpayment. I then spent another 1.2k for semi leather seat cover and additional security tint.

Hi all, last sunday pick up my wife Er3. So far So good. Exec Auto. not yet half tank but trip meter pass 350km.

review:

Steering / handling 3.5/5 (still enjoyable driving)

FC 5/5

Space Seating 4.5/5 (still surprised of the space, all average 57kg person, average 170cm height)

Luggage full seating (7pax) 3.5/5 (ok la since urban mini mpv)

Suspension:
3.5/5 (if 5 adults of avg 57kg/person +/-100km/h)
4.5/5 (if 7 adults of avg 57kg/person +/-100km/h)

2nd Row Blower (suck from 1 1st row ambianced A/C distribute to 2nd and 3rd row) 4/5

Stock tyre vs road taken 4/5 (route ulu yam - sg. tua everyday cold tarmac)

Rolling highest gradual speed (not racing, just testing the speed) achieved so far 160km/h, after that gradually slow down. doing some hard break in for the engine (5 pax 57kg avg). after 1 st service will test max speed in good manner.

Body Roll 3/5 (route ulu yam - sg tua)

Sound proof 4.5/5

Engine sound from inner and outer 4.8/5

Engine performance :
stand still 3.8/5 (acceptable and expected)

Er3 are Fun, Fun, Fun
3rd row auditorium seating got compliment by passenger
Suzy swift dashboard and interior fittings and colour choice personally just wow factor for a 54k car
Oil filter position is a plus, Gear box oil check is a plus, silent alarm central lock cool (since the horn quite loud)
