If I upgrade to 30MB and next year wont be able to get 50MB free upgrade but RM169 include GST. if I opt for 50MB which will be effectively free upgrade by early Jan, then will be RM179 include GST.
*
Rm179 free upgrade to 50Mbps which is the current promo. U sure it is rm179 included GST? If u work backward, the price which is rm169 before GST.

Besides, the rm169 u mentioned is included GST, which means it is rm159 for 30Mbps. Without GST.
It means ur are paying rm10 less before GST for 30Mbps now and next year while rm169 get 50Mbps.

So the battle now is 30Mbps for rm159 vs 50Mbps rm169 both before GST.
If u do not need the extra 20Mbps download speed and extra 10Mbps upload speed, and u want to save the rm10 per mth, maybe it is ok.

Ur one is it the greenbox in front of house? I heard from both tm point sales person and the technician that each box comes with 8 ports. Ur side one box serve more than 8 houses?

I received missed calls from this no +60326015000 3 times but I did not managed to answer it. Just now I called back this no. The person answered said it is from TM. She said it should be marketing department tried to call me on promotion such as upgrade.

My two unifi lines one is activated on 27 nov 2016, the other one is on 6 dec 2016. Both rm179. I am surprised that tm so fast has something to offer me? tongue.gif

I received their call from the same number also.. but I told her that I need to discuss with my wife so she will call me back tomorrow.. guess will go with the 30MB which not entitle for 50MB upgrade unless I sign out for the RM169 package instead of the RM159 package both exclude GST. So compare to what I got now which is 10MB with RM10 to upgrade to 30MB guess should be good enough oledy.. What she told me is that, no contract, free channel as those 30MB package(think include 2 extra Mandarin package or something but I never turn the unit on for years).  All equipment will come with additional 1 year warranty.

Just wondering is the previous VIP5 equipment able to support that 30MB speed? If not, then whats the point to upgrade? My equipment think has over 5 years or more?

Weak points are now all call to fix or mobile will be charge at RM0.20/min beside the extra RM10/month.

yeah, that's why I tot maybe they got some promo to offer to me too. tongue.gif

that's why dun bother about going via 100 or any other TM channel for matter like upgrade.
Tm point will be fast and efficient.

I supposed no contract refresh, you can check with TM Point.
Oh? I thought you were so eager to upgrade to 50M and cannot resist 100Mbps.
*
tried to find 'things' to download to fully utilize the speed last night, 30Mbps can allow the download all the 'things' real fast.
cannot imagine if next year 50Mbps it will be even faster.
100Mbps is definitely good, just worry i cannot utilize fully which most of the time the usage is idle as download can be completed so fast. i may end up for the sake of fully utilizing the speed to keep on finding 'things' to download and my hardisk will be filled up real fast - first world problem.

now 10Mbps upload is also sufficient as I am not a content creator that always upload stuff. next year 20Mbps upload will be even more sufficient, 50Mbps i cannot benefit from it also. tongue.gif

most importantly, i am using it alone at my own house. thumbsup.gif so it is really over-killed for me.

in addition, my 30Mbps plan is activated on 6 dec 2016, the upgrade to 50Mbps will be guaranteed (B & W) so no point to do extra thing to mess this up too. tongue.gif

lastly, if i maintain the lowest price plan available, i can anticipate any good deal from TM marketing team anytime next time to upgrade further also (if any), even dun have, 50Mbps is certainly enough for the next few years for me one single user without the need to share to with anyone also. thumbup.gif

It feels more 'balanced' to pay TM the subscription below rm200 monthly also even though the extra rm50 is really not a big deal. rclxs0.gif

laugh.gif Like I said yesterday, I know they will call me next year. 50M will be enough for me, oh well if I can live with 30M for more than a year, I will have no issue for 50M too.

Not forgetting, I have tonnes of data quota which are overwhelmed for me and I can get 100M on my Celcom. laugh.gif
*
yup, correct. If one is not on the highest end plan, there is always chance that TM may call to offer 'better' package anytime during the subscription.

last time while I am on VIP 5 at my parent's house, I also received call to get the VIP 10 at RM179 also and I opted for it. Just that I moved to my own house and it took 2.5 years to get the unifi at my house here before I am back to unifi again. Thus why I only activated the 30Mbps plan this month.

Technically speaking, the current promo price for the Advance 30 or Advance 50 is not really a promo price, it just gives option for ppl to not paying for the extra rm20 voice plan. If the rm179 price comes with rm20 voice plan as the rm199 normal price one then it is indeed a promo. But I am glad that there is a price of rm179 now though as I really dun need free calls as my mobile line has unlimited calls to use so it is redundant. The rm20 saving is good. The free upgrade is certainly good, and it is really considered as kind of promo.

Yeah, 30Mbps is more than sufficient, for a person who was stuck with 4Mbps the copper connection for 2 years+ the 30Mbps is totally sky and earth difference. In fact last time when I am on VIP5 to VIP10 time, the bandwidth to me is good enough too which I can obtain a lot of 'things' I want during the period.

50Mbps will certainly enough for me as of now. thumbup.gif

Cant help but laugh when I pictured the way u say NOW. So your area can support 100 too?
*
in most cases, landed property should have no problem to support 100Mbps, only apartment will have the worry.

besides, i am checking a question for my uncle, his house unifi is VIP10 now (free upgraded from VIP5), he has been using this service for quite long time and no more contract. However, his hypptv setup box was spoiled. any solution for him if he wants to get a replacement setup box?

Since no contract left, you would have to fork out money for a new stb, or can get replace for free by renew contract thus warranty too for the new equipments.
*
i see. renew contract can get all devices including setup box, wifi router etc. for free or just the one spoiled?

how much is the hypptv setup box itself?

I'm on landed property. No struggle in speed, they always rush up instantly as soon as the ping test is over.  biggrin.gif
*
i noticed my two unifi connections (both are 30Mbps plan), ping is about the same, but my parent house one when doing speed test, it will have a spike all the up to 60Mbps++ first then slow down all the way to 30Mbps++ and eventually steady at 32-33Mbps, while my own house one when doing the speed test, it will go steadily from 0 all the way to 28Mbps++/30Mbps++ and eventually steady at 33Mbps.

anyone here who is on streamyx previously but upgraded to unifi and choose to terminate the streamyx after unifi is activated but retain the existing copper telephone line? are u guys paying rm1 now for the existing telephone line instead of the monthly rm26++ for the line?

i am chatting with tm live chat to confirm that my copper telephone and my unifi are linked so that the coming month bill i won't see the rm26++ on my existing copper line, obviously he did not understand what i was inquiring about at all.

Can I know if the situation like you still need to pay entire December bill for streamyx? Or will pay less because this month you already terminal streamyx
*
my lastest bill is 4 dec 2016 for streamyx, but my unifi is activated on 6 dec 2016.
on latest streamyx bill had charged till 3 Jan 2017.

so I need to wait till next bill on 4 Jan 2017 to see the pro-rated amount.

i think no matter which date u install unifi and terminate streamyx, u also will have pro-rated credit. i think no chance that u pay less. unless u install ur unifi one day before ur billing date of streamyx?

do note that if ur credit balance is less than rm10, TM will contra the amount. (what a nice trick to makan the credit balance from customer, imagine one customer rm10 they contra, how much they can contra for those customers who terminated their services)
if u want to ask back the amount that had been contra, u need to make a visit to TM point in person to ask back this amount. cannot be done via 100 or online chat etc as the amount had been contra.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Dec 29 2016, 02:45 AM)
I access a lot China websites and IPv6 seems to block them. I have disabled and it seems mine works better without IPv6.
*
when i first installed the 30Mbps unifi, i found that my internet speed is not that fantastic as compared to my uncle house which is using the VIP10 merely. when i use my uncle's VIP10, loading any page is immediately, it is almost zero waiting time before a page is loaded. super fast that kind. but on my 30Mbps, it is reasonably fast but it is not lighting fast like my uncle's one. but after doing some trial and error with my wifi router including totally disable IPv6 at my wifi router, the speed now is much better for normal webpage loading. somewhat for unifi, without IPv6 totally it loads thing faster, at least personally, i feel it.

By right, only left 3 days then I can enjoy my free upgrade 30 to 50 mbps?  rclxms.gif

but suddenly feel tamak  laugh.gif ..worth upgrade now to enjoy 100 mbps?

what you guys think?
*
free upgrade is going on batches, in Jan 2017 can check for upgrade eligibility, likely that only after April 2017 then can start seeing the upgrade unless TM is really so efficient this round for this upgrade.

are u using alone or it is used among family?

if alone, maybe not, i had shared my reasons in the earlier posts (u can check back the posts) from my own personal prospective since i am a single user for my unifi line. to me, the current 30Mbps is sufficient, next year 50Mbps upgrade will be even more sufficient. of course, everyone is different, and needs different things, so u need to see ur own needs to decide. in the end, rm50 extra is not really a lot and not a big deal given the price we had already paid for, the 2x download speed and 2.5x upload speed for the price of rm50 is really worthwhile, but in the end it depends if u utilize the extra speed given.

if family, are all ur family members heavily consuming the line? such as 24x7 downloading large files or at least majority of time? if yes, it is worth it since it is going to be shared by many people. everyone may be happier given the extra bandwidth that everyone can get despite that it is shared.

u need to decide very quickly i guess. like u said, only less than 3 days left.
