that mean X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series only work for game?
useless for listen music?
*
you still not understand....every sound card can served as gaming or listening music or whatever audio activity...no sound card in the world that will only limited either on music or gaming...the fact is X-Fi bundle the powerful DSP that will work very well in gaming but not mean that it will worse in music...

so, if your budget allow, just go ahead for your X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro, no need to think about its for what purpose...

dumb question, does the X-fi Xtremegamer fatality has DTS onboard decoder?
*
all the X-FI series has internal(onboard) DTS decoder...so for your X-fi Xtremegamer fatality as well...

see?
the yellow one, it splits into two, one yellow head which i left it hanging, another black one, which i connect to the speaker...

is it supposed to be hanging like this?

i'm using this speakers btw

Altec Lansing ADA885

yap, if you already connected all the appropriate connectors to the speaker terminals respectively and it sound correctly, then that means left it hanging is doesn't matter....from your pic, i guess the hanging yellow cable if for extra front center(if your black is for subwoofer)...

Its not useless for listening to music...
Its just that, this card is specially built for games...Playing as many eax modules possible..The surround and all..
but if u listen to music with it...it doesn't mean it'll suck..
its actually pretty good...giving richer audio...ur music will sound nicer..
provided u have good speakers, may it be 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1...
On board audio processor doesn't even come close..

i wish to buy but my speakers come wit optical connectivity z-5500D
Then the one selling cheap dont have I/O
*
your speaker support coaxial digital connection....so no need to use I/O panel...

and once again, i won't suggest ppl buy X-Fi for only as digital output device, you waste the onboard DAC, EAX in gaming...unless you can prove that your Z-5500D build-in DAC is better than X-Fi DAC...

This thread is dead again *sigh*

Where are all the X-Fi user? Since no one want to talk, so back with the modding biggrin.gif

I tested a film polyester 10uF on coupling caps (the caps is freaking huge!, I got it from Yulong PCM58DAC tongue.gif), it sounds flat and the high is not as sharp as the electrolytics (more listenable at high volume). On some song it reveals more background vocals and detail, spooky. Gonna test it further smile.gif
*
my mod will start 2-4 weeks later, stay tune, just let this thread die first... laugh.gif

EDIT: i'm so surprise yesterday when i soldered the output cable directly from opamp 1, 7 pin, the background noise was so huge....i can heard the mouse movement and HDD activity noise so clearly...i think the SMD cap and circuit after opamps done the noise elimination job...

Rofl biggrin.gif I wonder what kind of opamp you wanted to buy? I suggest you either get AD8599 or AD8066 smile.gif

I measured DC offset, the same valued electrolytic gave 5mV while this film only gave mere 0.2-0.5mV shocking.gif

EDIT: Hmm, I totally bypass the entire circuit after the coupling caps direct to RCA out. Clean as hell. Maybe that circuit is needed if you use opamp I guess

I post some pic after Friday prayers smile.gif
*
yap, direct from DAC no problem....

my opamps? Xtreme Secret rclxm9.gif start with OPA and AD... laugh.gif

Is there any different between fatality SB0466 and SB046A..?

And which one better?
*
QUOTE(sigheart @ Jun 3 2008, 08:41 PM)
Bro what @meno meant was between SB046A and SB0466. There is no such SB046X model. Basically the difference between SB046A and SB0466 is just the bundle it comes with in retail packs. SB0466 was an earlier release with an I/O module and a remote bundled together. SB046A is a later release of the exact same card without the I/O module and the remote. So, basically there is no difference between SB046A and SB0466, performance included. Well this is from what I understand and may not be entirely correct but the basic idea is there I guess. For your information though you can purchase the I/O module + remote alone at Thundermatch Low Yat for RM379.

after i read the chart, i concluded that any model number end with 'A' won't have driver level DTS/Dolby decoding, so just buy Fatality SB0466 rather than SB046A....

they still can output DTS/Dolby surround even they don't have driver level decoding, just use the appropriate software such as AC3 filter and power DVD

hey guys...
i am using an xtreme gamer...
I din realize this earlier...
But today when i was listening to music while doing assignments, i realize there are random pauses...
long apart but obvious and irritating enough...
Its like each song, i might randomly get 0-3 pauses...
I use windows xp, and winamp to listen to mp3s...
Is this the card problem?
Or driver problem?

Just bought an X-Fi Fatal1ty from AllnGap.

Anyone here can give me a copy of a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Driver Installation CD? laugh.gif
I want the full CD copy, not the 4X.XXMB driver from Creative support website. blush.gif

The driver from Creative Support site is just a basic driver.

I hope this isn't against the rules of LYN.

not enough juice? you are using X-FI sound card in 'SLI mode' or what? rclxm9.gif

next time try using different PCI slot if BSOD occur, since PCI compatible issue is a 'fun and interested' knowledge that waiting you to explore by yourself... ohmy.gif

There was a furore over the new :

drivers:http://arstechnica.com/journals/hardware.ars/2008/08/01/creative-caves-supports-dolby-digital-dts-in-vista-driver

What does this Dolby Digital Live/DTS Live do? What kind of application that can make use of it? BluRay disc?

I'm running under VISTA, will download and try the drivers tonight.
*
Without Dolby Digital Live/DTS Live, the card SPDIF only can output 2 channel uncompress PCM or output compress multichannel sound which is 'pre-encode' and store in DVD...and if you want to get the multichannel sound from the card for multichannel sound game title, you only can output from analogue terminal, SPDIF only can output stereo sound because the card can't encode the DTS/Dolby on fly...

Dolby Digital Live/DTS Live encode multichannel sound on fly, that means now you can get multichannel sound from game through SPDIF terminal, final thing is now you can output multichannel sound from SPDIF according to the speaker setting in the driver, without Dolby Digital Live/DTS Live your SPDIF terminal can only give stereo even you set your speaker to multichannel format...

one thing, according to the creative official forum announce, Dolby Digital Live/DTS Live will charge money and won't bundle inside the driver, and the driver you saw was only the 'regular' driver which unlock DTS/Dolby in Vista, not the advance 'live' feature...

BTW, welcome back thread starter, you have lost since long time ago...lol... tongue.gif

This thread dead?!!? ohmy.gif

Hmm, let me share some X-Fi mod info here...for those component you want to bypass/shorted, you must removed the component completely and not just shorted with wire....i discover this problem in the main channel high spikes...from RMAA test, i shorted the muting transistor, the left channel spike still remain the same, the spike just removed when i also shorted the SMD resistors after the opamp, this lead me to believed that the spike was due to faulty resistor...but my thought was wrong. That day i removed the muting transistor completely and noticed that the spike was totally gone, and not due to SMD resistors.

So conclusion is shorted the DC path with wire is not a problem but not the AC path especially in audio stuff. icon_rolleyes.gif

Ops..sorry.. I missed type. I cant switch to any mode.
I'm using XP.

Usually I switch between modes using the Vol Panel at the taskbar. But, after I install new driver, I cant do that anymore. Try to start it from start menu, also can not.
When I try to change mode, the program ask me to select audio device. When I want to select it, only "windows default audio" option appear. No SB X-Fi Audio [1000]. The SB X-Fi Audio appear when, I'm using the old driver.

Sorry for the bad explanation. Hope you understand. Thanks for the help
*
Yap, the driver can't detect your sound card....reinstall the driver....uninstall old driver before new one...

for vista user, the new driver included the volume panel adi, so you can switch the mode and open console from taskbar as in XP, great work... rclxms.gif
