QUOTE(SSJBen @ Dec 1 2016, 01:49 PM) Common misconception. this is my thoughts exactly bro.. usually people are mistaken the ports version with the cable version..All standard HDMI cables are built the same actually. A HDMI cable that came out in 2007 can transport 4k signals with HDR as long as its of sufficient gauge to maintain the distance the signal has to travel. You just need to make sure the cable is a high speed full bandwidth cable. The difference in HDMI compatibility is at the ports, not the cable. Most people do not know this, which is why the exotic HDMI cable market is so lucrative. |

QUOTE(edthrax @ Dec 1 2016, 12:02 PM) the annoying problem ps4 pro owners has if they have a VR headset .. must bypass the VR box to play any HDR 4k games.. Yes it's a silly design flaw. But fortunately I have a receiver with dual HDMI outputs, so I got around this issue pretty easily. I have to switch cables everytime i want to switch between VR and normal gaming.. PS4 Pro > Receiver > HDMI 2.0a input > HDMI 1 out to TV > HDMI 2 out to PSVR box. All I need to do is switch between the HDMI outputs on my remote depending on what I'm playing. Certainly a million times more convenient than changing cables. Also understand that the HDMI port is very easy to damage and it has a very low certified number of times (around 300) it can connect/disconnect before it starts to fail. So please know that changing cables each time is not a permanent solution, either your PS4 or PSVR HDMI port will fail in due time. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Dec 1 2016, 02:18 PM |

QUOTE(ivzh @ Dec 1 2016, 02:18 PM) thanks for clarification. expensive and cheap cable..performance are the same actually, because hdmi is digital signal.. 1's and 0's.. not like those old Svideo ,RCA cable where usually expensive cables are properly shielded from noise..so the bundled hdmi cable should be sufficient, no need invest in those premium expensive cable? for a short length cable, get a cheap one if you can.. QUOTE(ivzh @ Dec 1 2016, 02:18 PM) thanks for clarification. No, not unless you need to do a long run. The cable is just within enough for 4k HDR, 8 bit with chroma 4:4:4 but only within its length. If Sony were to include the same exact cable but with a longer length, then it will be trouble.so the bundled hdmi cable should be sufficient, no need invest in those premium expensive cable? |

QUOTE(edthrax @ Dec 1 2016, 02:22 PM) No problem. Now my next problem is how am I going to have separate signals for a projector and TV. Don't want to use a splitter/switch because they add unnecessary latency. Gahd damn sony. |

I'll be heading to Bangkok in a week. Anyone have any idea if there's a better chance to get a PS4 Pro there instead? I can't read Thai so I can't google to see if their situation is better than us with our dear Sony Malaysia. I never really care about warranty anyway so I'm not too worried about that part of things.
