Its not what I use is the best. I have tried a few types. Those chinese LED light with single led is just not bright enough. The may be good for riding on the road, or in the park, but if you want to go into trails at night, you really want something that is really bright.
I have wasted a lot of money on lights and in the end I find the Solarstorm solution as the one I would use. My friends use Rm500 Magicshine which is really awesome but I won't go that route. But then again, bright is a relative term. To some its bright but to others it might not be bright enough. My night ride group are mostly using Cateye or Magicshine which are some of the most expensive led light and I know what bright is. End of the day, this forum is about sharing and I am sharing my experiences. |

I guess having a light is good enough for a start.

I have tried a few led and this one is really bright and price reasonable. too bad i just ordered b4 read ur post It has 4 pcs XM-L T6 LED which is very bright and evenly distributed. The power consumption is great as I have juice left after 2 hrs ride. The size is not too big too. Hi everyone. Stumbled on this thread a few weeks back. A beginner rider for abt 2mths now.
Question... I'm torn between these two bikes since I gotten more info while reading here. These two bikes are almost in the same price range, both equally popular brands but differ slightly by their group set. A) Scott Scale 770 (2017) b) Polygon Siskiu 7 27.5 (not sure whether it's 2016 or 2017) The overall features on Polygon seems to be better than Scott and the Scott... the only thing I feel or looks better is the frame. Initially I was about to settle on the Scott till I read about one forumer recently purchased a Polygon. Do indulge me with your knowledge fellow sifu/vets? Thx This post has been edited by aquilaTE: Jun 8 2017, 05:43 PM |

Currently, I'm doing night riding only(road & housing area) as I seldom have the time to do morning/evening rides even over the weekend. Here are the 2 lights I have used for my night riding.
1. XML Cree T6 U2 5000lm (USB) ![]() Pro: - cheap (got it for less than RM50) - can be used with any powerbank - quite bright (though the actual lumens is about 400lm not 1500 or 5000lm like they advertise) Cons: - wired lights are cumbersome - metal area can be hot after prolong use 2. Lezyne Microdrive 450XL ![]() Pro: - quite bright (at 450lm as advertised) - compact and rounded design (no wires to worry about) - doesn't feel hot after prolong use - various light settings Cons: - max brightness last just over an hour - not as cheap as those china generic lights |

For example, the magicshine 8000 lumen, actual measure only 3xxx lumen. If cheapo china lights, dunno where to find correct info. This post has been edited by miaopurr: Jun 8 2017, 06:19 PM |
