QUOTE(thurtin @ Nov 14 2016, 12:14 PM) Nais. How is the LB carbon rims? Am thinking about them too but dunno if its worth the money, and how long it can last. Hahaha...just for blink blink LOL. The carbon rim is a Nextie. Not sure how tough they are. I bought it cheap from friend's bike which is ridden 3 times only. I guess carbon rims will break if you hit it hard enough. My friend crack his ori Enve rim at Kiara last week.Btw, why you put the Enve stickers on it la? IMHO, it's a bit poyo. |

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Dec 13 2016, 03:34 AM) thanks for the tips, i am probably getting my first action cam within this week. will experiment with helmet/ chest mounting to see which one gives better result and easier to setup. Helmet mount only capture view of the trail only and feels kind of "disconnected" from the MTB. Chest mount is the best as it capture the almost your full arm and the front cockpit of your bike and the trail so its gives a better feel of the mtb action. |

QUOTE(thurtin @ Nov 29 2016, 01:49 PM) Just got back from my first trip to Chiang Mai. What an awesome experience. Tried the famous Bamboo, Scout Camp Gee House and ATV trails among others. All of them are like Kiara x20, where everything is gnarlier, bigger and longer. Endos, arm pumps and brakes overheating is real. I went there in Sept, the wettest month and rode Gee House and Bamboo. Miss Rock Garden because of rain. yeah...CM is awesome but not for beginner. If you love Kiara, Chiang Mai is a must go. Not much photos of the trails but sharing 2 photos here. [attachmentid=8160261] Steepest rock garden. Ever. This is at the ATV trail. At least 70 degrees steep, with big ass rocks. [attachmentid=8160308] The bottom of another long, fast, and steep drop with big roots and ruts. Just hold on to the rear brake and hang on! |

Hello fellow MTBikers. I came across the Huck Norris anti pinch flat and rim protection foam for MTB. From the video below (which i obtain from the internet and shorten it) it looks like its a must for those who run tubeless. It was abit too late for me as I just discovered I have cracked my rear carbon rim on my Pivot M6 last week before I receive the foam I ordered. Anyway, I have managed to DIY the Huck Norris and this is how it looks.
![]() ![]() The benefits of this: 1. Protect your rims from cracking as a result of direct hit. 2. Allow you to use lower pressure for better grip. 3. Prevent pinch flat Its very lightweight so it doesn't really add much to your bike. The one I cut out for my front 40mm wide carbon rim is only 100g. So for narrower rim, you can expect the weight to be around 80g only. See the video below: DIY huck norris I order a rll of this high density foam and have extra for a few more to be cut out which I want to get rid off. Price is Rm10 per piece. ![]() Anyone interested can whatsapp me at 0129938889 This post has been edited by lightning69: May 4 2017, 11:11 AM |

QUOTE(croomaniac @ May 5 2017, 09:49 AM) Yes. Its denser the those floors mats used for kids playground. Disadvantages is that its 20g heavier per piece than those floor mat material. This acts as an extra layer of protection on your rim. Remember you have air in your tire that will provide the cushion for your rim. This foam stays in the rim doing nothing until you rim out, then this thing act as a cushion to absorb the energy. Off course nothing is 100% meaning you cannot go and slam your rim as hard and not break it. Even the hardest material when break when enough force is applied. It not only protect your rim but also prevent pinch flat on your expensive MTB tires. Pinch tires from heavy impact results in cuts on your tires which might not seal properly and resulting in costly replacement. Also prevent blurping. My friend is using in his SC Nomad and he is very happy with it as he can really feel the difference sound and feel in hard landing where when the rim hit hard, and is very confidence inspiring. I only have a few exra pieces left and after this and I don't think I will be ordering any more. I order 1m wide x 3m long roll and selling of the extra as I don't want to keep it. You can make it yourself with those colorful floor mat but you end up having many connections. Mine is 1 piece cut out from a 3m long roll. And the process to cut out to shape to reduce weight is very time consuming. Took me 3 hrs to cut 1 piece. |

QUOTE(tongyam @ May 6 2017, 12:09 AM) No bro. I am from Miri. You can read more here: Its got review by pinkbike. Huck Norris Tire Insert - Review More review There are other system that does the same thing but cost a lot more. Procore by schwalbe. Aarron Gwin is running on ProCore this season. Procore Cushcore. Jared Gaves - Pro Enduro Racer is using this. Cushcore Anyway, its only RM10 per piece for the raw material. Btw, this is for those who run tubeless and low pressure and ride hard. |

QUOTE(shadow111 @ May 21 2017, 09:40 PM) Hi Everyone.. Tropix is a major manufacturer in China for many other brand Mtb and road bike. Due to drop in order from their clients, Tropix decided to manufacture their own brand of MTB and road bike. As a relatively new company, Tropix is selling their bike at a very very low price to get market share. Make no mistake because Tropix make high quality aluminum and carbon frame and their design and built quality is up their with the major brand. So I believe you won't go wrong with Tropix bike. For the price they are selling, you can close your eyes and purchase it without much worry. Now I am not a Tropix dealer or promoter but my lbs is and that is what the boss told me. You can get a Tropix aluminum hard tail with XT group set for RM2800 if I'm not wrong. How could you fault that! It's more than decades ago since I last ride a MTB (during my school day). I want to give MTB a try as a sport/hobby. Plan to get a bike to cycle around on road or maybe go up the tok kun hill as below once I'm more familiar with the bike. https://pegasuskl.wordpress.com/2009/11/05/...ertajam-penang/ Since I'm new, I set my budget around 1-3+k. I did survey few shop and below are some of the recommendation. polygon siskiu 29er (RM2.8k) http://www.polygonbikes.com/my/bikes/descr...2017-siskiu29-6 Tropix Mig 17 (RM2.9k) http://tropixbikemalaysia.com/mig17.html My fren said the spec for Mig17 is better as it's using XT. Hope the sifu here can give me some guidance on this. At the same time, I'm open to other suggestions. I'm looking towards value for money specs instead of brand. I don't mind for 2nd hand bike if available. Thanks you very much. |
