"value for money" is relative.

i know a number of khs owners, buy bikes which normally we would consider "value for money". retailed lower than other major brands, good discounts, great spec. less than 3 months of use, their bikes got major problem. everytime kayuh, got major clunking noise every few seconds. turned out, freehub body wobbled badly. each bike same problem. asked shop, shop said not covered under warranty. freehub cheapo, cannot be removed and replaced. so only solution, buy new hub or wheelset.

a mechanic friend told me, khs bikes good value in terms of groupsets packaged with their bikes. but other components buyers like u usually overlook, they put on cheapo parts. and the frame oso heavy. pipu see groupset gooding, terus beli.

so... again, "value for money"?

Thanks for your input. Guess polygon is a better option to go minus the groupset.

I'm totally new on this.. My only knowledge is from google.. smile.gif
Once I start to venture into this, then only will I know whether I'll invest more in future.. Or it will just be a leisure past time for me.

Honestly I think most people can't tell the difference between Deore, SLX or XT. Me included. Some claim XT is "smoother and faster" but try to ask them to do a blind test with all 3 groupsets. I wonder how many can actually identify which is which. Lol.

I think best option for you now is not to buy new. Go to bicyclebuysell.com and look at 2nd hand bikes within your budget and area. Find something you like and nego kau kau. Buy it and ride it until you get the itch to upgrade... or get bored of it and keep it in your house for the next 6 months. icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for your feedback. I did search around BBS.
Problem is, I don't know whether the price they offer is good or not.
Besides, I don't even know how to check whether the bike is in good condition or the parts are correct.
Easier get scam for newbies like me.. sad.gif

my 1st bike is deore
never ride xt xtr
my guess only 1) efficient gear shift? 2) lighter <- these mainly i heard from fellow seasoned rider
just my opinion here for new bike since it come with better model
but for frame not easy to guess unless ride it and feel the weight

changing frame is not about the weight for sure..

its the geometry of the bike. that what makes the difference between bikes. you will be amazed on how it affects your ride.

I'm using this brand called Moon. Check it out. Price is quite decent. I bought from K2C in Sunway. I've also bought those cheap China lights that you connect to an external batt from BBS. Still working well and bright as hell.

I've used SLX and XT before. Apart from pyshical and weight differences, I couldn't tell the difference in performance really while on the trail. After I switched to X01, I wont use Shimano anymore. Shimano just feel so wooden and dead. Shifting with SRAM is so much more satisfying. Lol.

yeah saw the china 1 but rebranded at KSH just now but they're selling it for RM200 but it looks exactly like the ones selling at BBS for more than half lesser priced.

Here are the spec
-mosso 985xc 29"
-shimano deore with 3 x 10 gear (not sure the details)
-tektro draco hyraulic brake
-truvativ stylo t10 handle bar
-schwalbe rapid rob tyre
-inferno25 rims
-srsuntour shock (dont know the details)
*
Everything already brilliant, why not use single crank? save a lot of weight, no front shifter & derailleur, cash can top up to deore xt crank, 1 x 11 speed, crank 34 teeth, deore xt shifter & derailleur, sunrace 11-46 cassette, 11 speed with better gradation. (11-13-15-18-21-24-28-32-36-40-46). thumbsup.gif
