I'm curious how to shoot this kind of shot, as in the setting.

Object tack sharp with motion background.
*
Just checked my settings, the shot was taken at:
ISO100 to ensure highest IQ
F4.5 to get some bokeh without risking losing focus of the subject
1/400 shutter speed. Wanted to go slower like 1/100 but it was not possible with the car jerking on the rough road (the shot will also be overexposed if I go for low shutter speeds. The shot was taken at around 120km/h.

The motion blur of the original shot was not this dramatic haha, post-processing was done to make it look faster laugh.gif
The key to a shot like this is to ensure that you are going at the same speed as the subject without losing your focus on the subject, which means your driver has to be damn good laugh.gif

It is called panning photography.
I myself have tried doing it before but i didnt practice much on it since i do shoot moving objects much.

Hope this helps

Best to have a monopod with you, That eliminates Y axis movements.

You'll have to experiment with shutter speed.

For example shooting fast moving cars like say F1 circuit then you'll be going at a faster shutter speed.

It is actually called rolling shot. It's different technique than panning.

The original shot was pretty drama also hahaha, just that the background blur was not as good as the pp one haha laugh.gif
Please don't encourage the Myvi driver who's Myvi just broke down last week because of too much abuse haha laugh.gif

We tried a few rolling shots:

It is not hard actually since there's not much technical skills involved. The more challenging parts are:
(i) nice cars are hard to find laugh.gif
(ii) hard to coordinate between cars; luckily can use phones to communicate. Need at least 2 persons in each car.
(iii) wide roads with good scenery is hard to find

Anyone here has nice ride? brows.gif brows.gif

Don't underestimate DX cameras though
In the right hands you can produce excellent results. I have been using D5200 for the past 4 years. It does feel limited without things like HSS flash capabilities on that model, but otherwise i have already squeezed out the most of what the camera is capable of already

Even the D3x00 series are actually very good especially 3300 and 3400, it all depends on the user

In fact i intend to buy a cheap preowned Canon DX body such as an EOS1000D (still undecided) later on and play the "crap camera challenge" game with my friends. And to use it in Canon-organized photography contests

Your sensor has no relevance when it comes to lighting, composition, settings and whatever else.

It's just a sensor.

Anyone planning to get a Godox flash, here is an example. Godox TT685. The built quality is quite good and the size is bigger than SB700. laugh.gif

My first batch of figurine photos from a Nikon D850.
The first shot is actually a focus stack of 6 shots due to insufficient depth of field at f/5, in order for the entire figure to be in focus from head to toe.

from the pics, i thought u r using entry level camera.. biggrin.gif

u should use a wider lens, such as 24mm and shoot in landscape mode..

tbh, the composition is totally out.. laugh.gif
