Im all for film look or analog looks but recently looks like everyone is doing it. I do it on all my phone instagram pics(i blame vsco) =D. But most photos I shoot on dSlR seldom, too much effort LOL.
What do you guys think about this trend? |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Oct 25 2016, 11:10 AM) well it probably is that easy ... but then again i could never achieve effects like those by VSCO. Just wanting to see what you guys feel about it.But personally I like digital photos not trying to be analog. Unless Im shooting the FE2 then, I like analog pics. |

QUOTE(DS_Legacy @ Oct 26 2016, 04:59 PM) Hentam hentam liao can improve For me I think between flash vs continuous light vs light painting each has its on pros & cons. In theory in my head continuous light is best as you can see the reflections and shadows as you adjust your product placement. Lack of studio level gears. The background of the image can be better. We were using continuous lights in taking the shot. If got more flashes and stands, we would have a slightly higher quality image. Since we were shooting at ISO 300 with continuous lights. And we need larger softboxes for better light diffusion. Notice the reflections on the watches, can be improvised one. But ayam still amateur la. Still learning with master PF T.J. Flash itself is tricky and very time consuming to setup. Things like bard doors, snoot even ND filters all need to be available to shape the light. lightpainting is good but location and post is abit daunting for me. QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Oct 26 2016, 07:05 PM) Actually I think the only gear we lack of was a better studio diffuser (the shot was taken with an umbrella) well just take note and do better. we are all always learning and improving. as long as dont give up, should be no issueMaybe a telephoto lens would allow us to crop less but its not really necessary I suppose I think the shot will be better if we have a better venue/materials to work The "ground" was supposed to be polished tile but ended up we could only afford plastic placed on a piece of black cloth.. The water droplets weren't very "cooperative" either haha Hopefully we will do better next time. For most product/macro shoot, the most important component is still light diffusion imho Few years back when I was in the mood of photography. I took nearly 40 mins to setup a lighting for one shot using 5 speedlite used 3 nikon and 2 canons https://flic.kr/p/nyq5RK. as long as we are satisfied. end of the day its how close you can get the image to the image in your head, should be golden |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Dec 14 2016, 12:00 PM) Our 2nd try at shooting a car, this time back in Agacia, Kampar Good try. what was the speed you guys were going at? Looks like can squeeze longer shutter + increase speed slightly for more blur and more fun. But stay safe la, try on abandon roadsShots taken with the help of DS_Legacy Photowalk V9- Rolling Shot by My Story Production, on FlickrThe rolling shot proved to be most challenging since the road is very short and "laden" with an abundance of cow dung! Not only do we have to keep both cars straight and within the same distance, we had to make sure to dodge all the cow poop too! QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Dec 14 2016, 06:38 PM) Thanks man, much appreciated Yeah we were looking for wider roads with less traffic/people but unfortunately there were none in the area- small town The shot above was taken at 1/40 on a very short stretch of road Luckily we were there early and not that much cars coming in and out. Hope to be able to take some highway shots next time, would be much easier, and the effects better Remember safety 1st. ideally using rigs would be better. ![]() 120617-Celica-001 by Gerald Lim, on Flickr can do tighter shots, as seen above |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Dec 21 2016, 10:37 PM) More photos from our recent shoots getting there dy.. slowly.. keep shootingCo-photographer DS_Legacy Autoshoot V3- BMW X1 by My Story Production, on Flickr Photowalk V9- Colors by My Story Production, on Flickr Autoshoot V3- BMW X1 by My Story Production, on FlickrThe BMW shoot was again not up to our expectations as we couldn't find any road that is long and wide enough, especially when shooting at a place strange to us... have to make do We've also noticed that glossy paint seems to reflect light differently and normal strobes may not work properly. Apparently the car carrying the photographer has to be chosen wisely as well as some cars have very very narrow windows, can't even lean my body out Hopefully things will be better in the upcoming shoot QUOTE(DS_Legacy @ Dec 22 2016, 02:18 AM) where are your pics XD |
