QUOTE(pizzaboy @ Sep 12 2024, 07:10 AM) Hello there. You mentioned this would be much cheaper if everything was purchased online. So I was looking online, and chanced upon this; https://shopee.com.my/Hikvision-DS-2CD1063G...db-52c08c57ae64Where the cameras are RM260/unit. Getting 8 would set me back for RM2,080. The recorder would be this https://shopee.com.my/HIKVISION-8CH-8-CHANN...e1-43e35166cdd0RM814 And the cables were about RM360 The power supply about RM100. The contractors are charging me RM2,000 to pull the entire thing. Is this a solid price? I'm not terribly budget constrained, I just don't want to be spending money frivolously. You shopee link is 6Mp & IP camera with some simple AI it's like day & night compare to what your contractor has quoted you. Try look for simple 5Mp IP camera for comparison, image wise still will be much better than analog.

QUOTE(pizzaboy @ Sep 13 2024, 08:14 AM) I see I'm about to bite the bullet and get 4 cameras first. Currently deciding between https://shopee.com.my/Hikvision-DS-2CD1083G...1e-494f6832b31e8MP, with night light, and 12-15FPS. https://shopee.com.my/HIKVISION-4MP-DS-2CD1...74-f147ed8483394MP, with ColourVu and 20 FPS Having seen the cameras running at 15 FPS, it seems sufficient for outdoor monitoring usage. They also have an 8 port smart POE switch for sale. https://shopee.com.my/Hikvision-8-Port-Giga...1f-77b7e7d69e0eDo I need this for anything or is the NVR sufficient? I'm bound to get into some complications as I try to learn how to do this myself, but I'm trying to minimise that. https://shopee.com.my/HIKVISION-8CH-8-CHANN...e1-43e35166cdd0This is the NVR i'm planning to get. Not sure what's the difference but this says it can record up to 4K The NVR already built-in POE so no need to buy a POE switch. I prefer turret over vandal dome because with the round plastic cover if IR mode it tends to give some distortion especially later on when it becomes dirty due to environment.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Sep 20 2024, 09:12 PM) My CCTV guy said need 2 power sockets for the CCTV system. Can the 2 share the same socket using multi-plug socket? Is vibration sensor waterproof? If not, any suggestion on how to prevent rain from affecting it? Thanks Adapter for cctv is low current, so no issues at all. Not too familiar about alarm but waterproof vibration sensor should be available in the market. This post has been edited by adamw: Sep 21 2024, 12:25 AM

QUOTE(maresh88 @ Sep 29 2024, 03:13 PM) Hi, I'm planning to get 4 units of outdoor cctv system like tapo cameras and VGI NVR. Any knows what kinda wiring is required for an installation like that? Trying to conceal the wiring as much as possible Used cat6, since not wireless don't get Tapo, the 3 major brand would be much better!

But moment car ehdlights are on and its moving. Its all blown out and cant see the plates of the moving car Need camera that can set the exposure time manually or buy more expensive type purposely for LPR. Check if the tapo c425 have manual exposure settings or not?

QUOTE(MasBoleh! @ Apr 22 2025, 03:57 PM) I noticed TAPO cctv got the free 30 days Tapo cloud storage, or some other brands also got free 30 days cloud storage. What does it means? Free 30 days of cloud storage only literally I needed to pay if I want to use the cloud storage or free 30 days of cloud storage forever, and I can view the footage up to the last 30 days only? After 30 days need to pay

QUOTE(MasBoleh! @ Apr 23 2025, 12:47 AM) That means for wireless, and without cloud subscription, people can just knocked down the cctv and took it away, we will have no footage at all? Seems like wireless one is compulsory to subscribe to cloud storage Yes but for long term why not buy a cheap NVR & record it inside your own house, especially if more than one camera? Because if internet is down your cloud still won't have recording. This post has been edited by adamw: Apr 23 2025, 01:47 AM

QUOTE(MasBoleh! @ Apr 23 2025, 11:20 AM) Meaning if the thief enter the house and destroyed the router, the footage will lost too. But then my concern is NVR will be grabbed by thief and the whole footage is lost too You can always hide the recorder & put a dummy for them to steal
