for 2nd hand, you really need to open up everything to check.. as there are many reasons why its being sold..mostly is due to critical part faulty.

i am damn luckly to get preve unit previously owned by cose where all the maintenance being taken care of, so far no issue with och as have replaced it once i take ownership. now approaching 40k of usage since last och change, to be replace on next oil change.

as mentioned, most of och is burst at the inlet.. due to [no proper maintenance -late oil change or use some weird additives, engine oil etc] sludge forming inside the och device, and pressure builtup after that, oil properties change to acidic, etc etc etc etc are the main reasons why it burst/leak.
*
I haven't gotten my OCH changed at 40k km. Might change it at 45k or 50k when I reach that mileage since its still soft and there are no cracks (touched it during service).

I use Syntium 7000 since the beginning of ownership, and have used Liqui moly Ceratec and Nano WS2 extreme before. No issues so far. Oil change interval between 5 to 7k

Wow.. Thanks for the Feedback.. Appreciate it.

So, with all the above mentioned problem and poor material quality, would u still recommend this car to a buyer of its second hand? Do advice as I will take it into consideration seriously. smile.gif

Also look at the mileage and the service record. If official record stops abruptly @ very long ago, be wary of the car. Warranty is really important especially for a proton since it has so many things that can fail, unless it has already been 5 years.

Be wary of tampered mileage as well. Most used cars dealer do this to raise the value. If you do end up buying a used Suprima, it's better if you do a major service, which is to change the engine oil, timing belt and related parts, CVT Oil and filter, power steering fluid, brake fluid, coolant, etc, just in case the mileage adjustment was really huge. Years ago I went hunting for a used car with my friend... and I found one with a mileage of only 75k km... and when I opened the hood, 189xxx was written on the timing belt cover, which I believe is the last mileage change for timing belt. Used car dealers probably have gotten much smarter since then.

P/S: Just in case you're looking for a workshop recommendation, I suggest EA Autoworks at Bukit Jalil. Not the cheapest around, but you will be very satisfied with their workmanship and diligence. Get the throttle body/intercooler serviced as well perhaps along with an oil catch tank.

GOSHHH!!! this is starting to be a real turn off bye.gif bye.gif bye.gif I have gotten my hopes so high on this model. as it fits my budget nicely of below 40k...my budget is 40k, with 5-6k factored in for repair..so, sticker price the most i go is 31-33k...

but in all honesty, its really saddening to hear about all these reliability issues...geezzzz...

any words of advice to turn this around?.. tongue.gif tongue.gif comforting or encouraging words that why this model is still worth it, for a year 2015 model....

not really a turn off. once get the car, just replace all the oil.. and dont use it like a rally car then everything should be fine.

its a very good car at the given price... if have more budget.. can go for ketam turbo.. around 13k..

Hey guys,

Just got my used proton suprima. I noticed the bluetooth audio quite bad (low bitrate and lacks of bass). Is this normal?

Did you buy your songs, or you downloaded them? All of my songs which I bought through iTunes don't have any quality issues via Bluetooth. The only issue is the head unit bluetooth isn't very stable, so i gave up using it.

hello, just dropping by since I'm an Exora user.
2013 model, so far so good. 86k only, no complaints.

Any suggestion for intake hose? Mine standard one pecah near the turbo side. Been considering the SAMCO+Stainless+SAMCO version. Thanks in advance.

I'm using spotify. I used bluetooth audio with my previous car, didn't have any issue with sound quality. But my suprima bluetooth audio quality sounds tinny. Its annoying lol.
Mine is suprima S btw. Not sure if the head unit got issue. No problem with radio sound quality though

Checked the equaliser setting already? I'm not sure if software can cause this issue, but you can get yours updated at any service centre if the version isn't 7.84.

Alternatively get a good quality Aux cable (even though it's not convenient). I got one made by someone here for rm60 last time.

I believe it's normal, but check around your engine to see if engine oil is leaking out. It normally occurs around the rocker cover.

Congrats. Make full use of the warranty, take good care of the engine/gearbox, and it should be mostly OK for the long run. Get an oil catch tank installed soon to prevent oil residue build-up in your turbo and intercooler.

After every drive, be sure to let the car idle for at least 30 seconds with the air-cond set to the coldest, blower speed set to around 4, and windows open. This will force the radiator fan to run, which will cool down the turbo/CVT. I leave mine for at least a minute, up to 10 if I've been driving hard or long distances. Never had the radiator fan come on after engine shutdown.
