But isn't the new packages better even without taking account into the free streaming quota.
*
Well I was aiming for the RM70-90 bracket. But there isn't any, except this Maxis one:
    http://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/internet/wireless-broadband.html
which isn't very good value for money.

My options now are:
  1. Go for the U Mobile P70 plan (but tested in September my area UM 4G is intermittent)
  2. Go for the Yes Broadband & Postpaid Combo RM78 for 22GB plan (but haven't tested network yet, no TDD phone)
  3. Go for Webe (but no tethering and anecdotal evidence suggest mediocre performance)
  4. Go for Celcom First Gold plan (+RM10 to combine with weekend data) (but I am running away from Celcom in the first place)
  5. Continue with my current Celcom First Gold Internet (7GB + 14GB 2-8am) (coverage good, network unstable)
  6. Bite the bullet and go for the 40GB Digi Broadband plan
Decisions, decisions.

I noticed on the Digi Broadband page, there are two tabs:
    Stream FREE
    Stream ON Demand

but the three plans mentioned in either tab is exactly the same. So WTH does Digi mean by Stream Free and Stream On Demand?

This is extracted from the post,

The free video streaming is limited to just YouTube and Dailymotion. So watching videos from Netflix, iflix, Astro on the go and HyppTV will consume your stream on demand data bucket. Overall, it is quite confusing as Digi has a separate “Stream FREE” and “Stream on Demand” quota. Digi promises that you’ll never use up your internet quota on “Stream FREE” but it never mentions that it is unlimited.
*
So the difference between Stream Free and the Stream on Demand is
  • Stream FREE -- Youtube & Dailymotion, apparently "Unlimited" but with 10GB FUP.
  • Stream On Demand -- a whole bunch of streaming services that has a specific data bucket (unavailable for 6GB plan)

Then they shouldn't have put the 3 plans under each tab, because the plans do not change according Free Streaming or On Demand. Poor web design.

One option for me is to go for Broadband 60 (15GB) and then top up 10GB for 30 days at RM25 when I need to.

Now I'm using postpaid rm50 10gb,  plan to upgrade to rm80 20gb

*
Bear in mind Broadband 30 is prepaid only.

How much do I have to pay if I want to subscribe to broadband 100 with LTE-A device?it states Total Payment (Device Upfront + Plan Advance Fee) = 300.

Plan advance fee means I don't have to pay for next 2/3 months? what about the device upfront, it is stated 9x12 months, but seems like not added to the Total Payment?
*
Yeah, it's quite confusing. I'm going to a Digi Store and ask a staff about this one of these days.

At the Digi Broadband Page, just under the 3 plans, we have

QUOTE
For existing Postpaid customer, you may sign up the Broadband supplementary plan and enjoy RM10 rebate for life.

But further down in the Frequently Asked Questions, we have:

QUOTE
Who can sign up for a Broadband plan?

Broadband plans are open to all existing Digi subscribers and new customers. Existing Digi Postpaid customers can sign up for a new Broadband plan as a supplementary line and enjoy RM5 monthly rebate.

So which is it, Digi? RM5 or RM10 discount a month for existing Digi Postpaid customers signing up a new broadband plan?

I just applied the plan, I get RM10 discount as exist customer. Condition, the BB plan need to be under your existing plan aka supp line.

If you want it to be different account, the no discount.
*
This looks like a kind of early warning system for Digi as the customer will have to decouple the BB account from the phone plan before the customer can MNP out in future. Makes it a bit more ma-fan for the customer to port out.

But the question is, first time I paid rm28 for data. Why base line validity expired in 7 days? Really dunno what their system doing...
*
I'm guessing that it was already going to expire. Then you bought the internet data and it subsequently expired and you mistakenly thought the expiry was caused by the purchase of the data.

For Digi Prepaid, the buying of internet quota does not cause the validity last day to change.

Received notification from MyDigi app (not SMS) about some wheel spinning lucky draw when you top up or pay your bill. Yet another idea nicked from Hotlink.

Confirm Digi Broadband cannot make VoIP calls, including voice over Whatsapp & Skype.

http://community.digi.com.my/t5/Broadband/.../m-p/19140#M612

Well, that's it then. I'm not signing up for this offering. sad.gif

Every time they offer something that seems attractive, they put in some stupid restriction to make people run away. bangwall.gif

Stated in the T&C  sad.gif  mad.gif

Can I make VoIP calls (Eg. WhatsApp calls) using my Broadband subscription?
No, VoIP calls are not allowed on Broadband plans, but we do have Internet Top Ups that allow you to make VoIP calls (More information under Internet Top Up section).
*
Have to pay extra to make VoIP calls. Truly dumb. They want to protect their postpaid calls & IDD business but instead they're putting off potential broadband customers. Really short-sighted there.

QUOTE(rgchai @ Nov 25 2016, 10:54 PM)
I'm using Digi new boardband currently. Initially realized that the WhatsApp call is not supported under this plan unless I pay another RM5 to subscribe the VOIP plan. So, after I subscribed the VOIP plan, my quota will looks like 6gb data, 10 Free streaming and 3gb VOIP.

Now after 2 days usage, I found out that all of my data usage including YouTube are deducted from VOIP 3GB quota instead of normal data. I felt something's not right there. The VOIP quota will be used up first before others. Meaning after 3gb VOIP data used up then I can't make WhatsApp call again even I still got plenty of normal data. Then how? Purchase another rm5 VOIP top up? Then all usage will be falled under it again! What a stupid method!

I'd called Digi help line and the officer told me exactly as what I'm thinking of and mentioned It's written at FAQ section. Yes, it's really written there, the VOIP quota ranged on the first priority there!!

So, any one facing same issue? Any solution?
*
Thanks for letting us know. Digi getting more and more scummy in their practices. If worse comes to worst, better report to MCMC. VOIP data should not be used for Youtube.

Someone in Digi really hates the customers to do this.

Why is this current Digi Broadband so special that you have to pay for VoiP? Previously never had this restriction. And Maxis, Celcom and U Mobile broadband still don't have this restriction.

I let my kid to blasting youtube at home with his ipad... not as fast as yours, 1 day used up less than 1GB. You can use MyDigi apps to monitor the usage, all the usage currently goes into VOIP bucket  vmad.gif  When I asked digi customer service that why all the usage goes into VOIP bucket, she asked me to read the FAQ section which is this:

[attachmentid=8160159]

Something's wrong with this concept  mad.gif

This is pretty unethical from Digi. VoiP bucket should purely be for VoIP and nothing else. Unfortunately this means I'll be staying clear of Digi Broadband so long as these plans are current.

I just spoke to a Digi CS rep at a Digi Store. They say the current postpaid offerings are not subject to restrictions on VoIP calls.

Can any postpaid user here confirm they can make VoIP calls?
