I like my note 7. So sad to hear recall will be executed.

Have no idea which phone to switch to. Must well just stay put to note 3 and wait for next note series. Seriously, i love note.

At this juncture, be patient and wait for the announcement of SME. With the last recall experience, Hope they are able to handle this round well.
as a consumer, need a good solution and less hassle arrangement only.

my advice to all:
1. no need to call CS first. unlikely they will have any info on the process. if you push for it, good chance they will just try to come up with something logical like bring everything including freebies and then we file for refund. after all, if you wanna ask for refund, you need to return whatever you "bought".

2. be patient. the global halt got announced only yesterday. in Malaysia, ppl still sleeping. it takes time to formalise a plan, especially if it's just going to be a refund. Samsung need to know how to make payment -- cheque? bank transfer? then there's also those in contract and bought by partners... or even subsales.

it can sometimes take 1 day to come up with plan, 1 day for legal to approve (meaning it's legally correct and not open themselves to lawsuits) and probably another day for marketing to word things nicely...

we all know what will happen. there will be announcement saying there's investigation. samsung puts priority on safety. so, if can, power down and use some other phones... and wait for further updates.

i strongly believe we'll have our answers probably by Thu or Fri...

in the meantime, just pray harder. smile.gif

Least they can do is to issue a preliminary statement first rather than keep silent as if nothing is happening. 2 to 3 days wait is too long by all standards.

i'm fairly certain the prelim message will be out soon. probably going thru approval process (legal, marketing, etc)...

plus, dun forget... even with first recall, Samsung MY took quite a while to update their site and even FAQ.

anyway, just sharing what is on the US site:

Updated Consumer Guidance for the Galaxy Note7
Updated – Oct. 10 2016

Latest Updates on the Galaxy Note7
Samsung is working with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. While the investigation is taking place, Samsung is asking all carrier and retail partners here and around the globe to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7. Since the affected devices can overheat and pose a safety risk, we are asking consumers with an original Galaxy Note7 or a replacement Galaxy Note7 to power it down and contact the carrier or retail outlet where you purchased your Galaxy Note7. If you bought your Galaxy Note7 from Samsung.com or have questions, you should contact us at 1-844-365-6197 and we can help you.

Galaxy Note7 Owners need to do one of the following:
1. Exchange your current Galaxy Note7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and replacement of any Galaxy Note7 specific accessories with a refund of the price difference between devices; or
2. Contact your point of purchase to obtain a full refund.

Customers who exchange a Note7 device will also receive a $25 gift card, in-store credit, in-store accessory credit or bill credit from select carrier retail outlets.

looking back at the stuff that's happened on this thread... the name-calling, etc... especially with first recall...

i guess u can say it's karma...
1. those who kept all the accessories like SIM tray and S-Pen... well, looks like... they might not be useful for now. at least in context of Note7

2. those who were saying the rest are paranoid, etc and the new phone is extremely safe... enjoy the next recall/ exchange/ refund process.

ironic... isn't it.

I don't think they will do a 2nd recall. No way Note7 will sell well again to justify the losses from anymore recalls from this point onwards.

Think about it as writing some programming codes, if you start from scratch and nothing, it is easier to write. If you want to check for bugs and errors, good luck. Solve one bug, another two will appear. That is why there is no bug-free games.

If they can design Note 8 to have similar shape , then all the accessories will not go to waste. Imagine the impact on the accessories manufacturers with stocks already produced for the world market.

No they won't. They will go for 2nd recall first to stop the bleeding first, and then take time to analyze the problem. If not, more cases to happen and more damage to their name. The best solution is to stop the sales completely -> recall/refund-> research and analyze -> public announcement -> redo Note 7/skip Note 7 -> wait for S8/Note8.

Some updates from the users from other countries.

Apparently, Samsung China official forum has removed their Note 7 section. This move have pissed off all the Note 7 users in China because they lost the most important platform to send their complaints to Samsung. Right now the China users are SUPER pissed off. No kidding.

Also, from Samsung China official website, they already removed those 2 statements where they claimed that Note 7 explosion was due to customer fault/external factors.

Honestly, I just hope they will give an option to refund. Getting quite fed up with all these recall/exchange going on. One time is okay but now looks like there'll be another round. Too much hassle and worries just for a phone.
