Appreciate your long post bro but I am well aware of how it works having used it in the UK since it was released there. I’m merely stating the roadblock that AP is facing in Malaysia
Yes but I’m told the current policy is 1 card 1 DPAN. Any further will require an exemption which Samsung pay may have gotten
*
Yeah I know, things take time and need to be regulated. That would be valid if this was their first time with this type of technology. What’s frustrating is that BNM approved Samsung Pay a while back which also faced similar challenges like what you’re saying about Apple Pay. Hope that those officials see that allowing NFC wallets allows consumers to always have their card to spend wherever they need with a terminal.

Anyone manage to add Wise debit card to Apple Pay?
*
For Malaysian issued, no support yet.
Unless you convert Malaysia to Singapore then yes.

How do you convert to Singapore for Malaysian issued?
*
You have to go to Wise settings, not your iOS settings. Then select Singapore as your country.

Account > Settings > Account Actions > Personal Details > Country

Do note, once you switch to Malaysia to Singapore you have to do another round of verification, if you use your Malaysian NRIC to verify your account. You will need your Passport and Proof of Address (SG utility bill or bank statement not MY). Some have managed to get the Singapore account with their MY details but I’m unsure of the legality of doing so, do it at your own risk.

Also once you switch to Singapore, you can’t manually switch it back to Malaysia. You have to contact Wise’s CS to do it for you. Getting Apple Pay has some trade offs, example you cannot top up your account with MYR as you use an SG account unless you have Singapore banking privileges you can’t top up directly with your Malaysian bank, unless you use BigPay to transfer MYR to SGD to your Wise SGD balance (still I wouldn’t advise to change as you have to still pay some fees to convert your SGD to MYR in Wise). You would also lose your MYR account details with JP Morgan Chase. Overall, in my opinion I don’t recommend but you do you.

Using cards also mean you have to bring more cards out.
Nowadays i just bring NRIC , Car license and 1 CC (Public bank quantum visa most of the time) basically just in case
Others i'm just load into samsung pay (if got apple pay then yea) together with bonuslink and watson member.

One downside probably is mobile connection in the shop is weak then  ranting.gif

Bro, since a lot of establishments are not utilising Apple Wallet; you can save your membership card using apps like Pass2U and MakePass. Personally I used both before but prefer MakePass; Pass2U has a free & paid version while MakePass is paid. However I would recommend paying for MakePass for the excellent UI & UX.
Pass2U - https://apps.apple.com/my/app/pass2u-wallet...ns/id1142473931
MakePass - https://apps.apple.com/my/app/makepass-barc...et/id1450989464
I have used MakePass to make passes like spare Vaccination cards, Bank DuitNow QR codes, membership cards and etc.

i dont think  Pay requires a mobile connection to work.
Your credit card information is stored in the secure element of your device (watch / iPhone).
If the merchant's terminal is using a landline (or if they are using a different cellular provider that has good reception in that area) they would still be able to process the transaction w/o problem.

Thats the beauty of NFC payment VS eWallet which requires good cellular reception.
*
At the end of the day, the transaction has to be connected to the internet. It’s either consumer who uses your phone for eWallet transaction or the merchant who needs a internet connection and has to process the transaction via their terminal.

i use pass2u to make my membership cards like familymart / uniqlo but usually when i show it to the cashier they will always double take and ask me what is it and i have to tell them to collect points then only they scan it. sometimes they insist on not scanning it coz they dont know what is it then no choice i'll just open their brand app to scan instead.

but duitnow qr code can save? doesnt that changes dynamically or something?
*
Bruh, why the cashier so proactive in making sure that the membership number is legit. I literally use my Apple Wallet for Starbucks, Watsons & Sushi Zanmai. All don’t give a damn, I even tried using my Apple Watch to redeem my Starbucks credits. Most membership cards are static code.

Your bank DuitNow QR codes are static like the merchant DuitNow QR codes. It only becomes dynamic when you request a specific amount like RM10. So when you request for RM10 with your bank DuitNow QR code, it will only remain valid for about 1 minute before changing to a different DuitNow QR code.

That’s call staff ignorance to scan QR/Bar codes. I don’t believe upon scanning of QR/Bar codes will lead their POS to getting whatever “hack” they had in their mind. When this happens, I die die will tell them “boleh one. Scan je. Ni barcode/QR kedai u” and when they scan already and pass, surprise pikachu face and I’m just there like Khaby Lame. Zzz
*
Haiya, you have to remember we are tech savvy and proactively read about technological advancements. They don’t know any better. They don’t understand the difference between static and dynamic QR codes.

I hope so, tomorrow would already be Monday, 7th of February. Would it be a after CNY surprise or before/after Chap Goh Mei (which is on the 15th)?

Wait la. See got suddenly any banks got suddenly give hint on new upcoming promotion or card or whatever with a petrol station (I lazy find, few pages back got "insider" mentioned he/she saw got a specific petrol brand got collab/product/card with his/her bank) then we'll know adi lo.

but for now, slowly wait. See the fella in BxM accept or not all of the explanation as mentioned by Mavik and some other forumers from the bank. I think there's also a post say they resubmitted the "explanation" already to BxM and now waiting for their reply. I malas la to find back but I know got such post.
*
I remember, it was the Harimau Bank with Shell collaboration credit card. But, I remember they said that was scraped and a red bank is going to be first or something.

The point is, very confusing. The goal now is at least one bank should support Apple Pay. The rest would follow.

errr no. I don't recall creep mentioned anything about this being scrapped. Creep, can back me up on this?

It's not confusing. Our leakers are not wishing/hoping to score internet points by leaking too much info on this project so their answers are of course, very very vague. And yes, I agree with you, idc too which bank supports AP first, as long get 1 bank or financial institute (I'm looking at you BigPay and Wise) to support it first. Don't wish for anything to happen tmr. Malaysian working style, Monday blues. So wait for Tues or Wed if there's anything also.

Btw interesting story. I went to 99, and I told the cashier I wanna "wave" to pay. She looked at me like ???? where's your card? then I just keep say wave then she just points @ the POS and I use my AW to pay. She mou diu (dgaf) and just ask me "oh Apple Pay ke?" in a mou diu tone. Me go "ya". She continue mou diu HAHAHAHA
*
Of course, whichever insider/leaker don’t want to incriminate themselves by spilling to many beans. Like I mentioned previously, the goal is at least one of them support Apple Pay; the rest will do the same.

1) Even if having multiple of the same cards is a concern; you still need biometric authentication or a passcode before payment. It’s not like a physical card that you can steal and use the contactless function without verification.
2) Any wave transaction above RM250 needs a PIN anyway, it’s literally like your bank card but on your iPhone. Apple Pay still needs verification before payment.
3) Apple is not the card issuer, it’s just merely a platform to host the digital cards. The bank works with Apple and it’s responsible for the default limit and consumers have the option to increase it.

Even if the thief has the user’s biometric or passcode (at this point, if the user has reach this far; they really suck at securing their own iPhone) its the user’s responsibility to contact the bank about the stolen card and erase their stolen iPhone’s data via iCloud.

Is waving your phone over the card terminal not seamless enough for some?

It will be really fucked up if Apple Pay was cockblocked because some boomer doesn’t understand modern consumer electronics.

Like seriously, please have some tech savvy BNM officials approve it. Like it would really suck if this is the current situation.
*
I hope this is not the current situation RonanGow; I hope I’m proven wrong.

This is what I worrying about, not sure bxm will accept those explanations or not, bxm like final boss in video games, most difficult thing to defeat, Apple Pay Malaysia got delay and delay again just because of bxm
*
To my understanding, consumers already know it’s like your bank card, merchants need to know it’s like a bank card, and the banks know the benefits and downsides (similar to Samsung Pay). At this point, I can’t find any logical reason why would BNM reject Apple Pay. It would encourage more spending and economic growth; which is definitely needed now considering the state of our economy.

How you add your Starbucks into Apple wallet, I seems cant find the option to add it into Apple Wallet
*
I use two Pass2U and MakePass. Previously used Pass2U but switched to MakePass because of the better UI & UX. I have already made a Starbucks Pass for Apple Wallet. There are two versions, the standard one & the reserve version. You can pick either you fancy.
Search for the following names on the Pass2U search bar
Standard: Starbucks Card
Reserve: Starbucks Reserve Card
Both are made by The First Human Being

The blame isn't on BNM, it is all solely on the bank who is pitching it to BNM. If they come unprepared and can't answer the simple questions, BNM would shoot them back and whack them. At the end of the day again, it is the bank that is bringing this initiative who has to prove and show that they can operate it and thought of all available scenarios and present those scenarios to BNM.
*
You have a point, BNM is just doing their job ensuring whatever new technology the banks want to implement safe, reliable and something the banks know how to use. It’s just somewhat pathetic that whichever bank is pitching, in my opinion; not doing a good sales pitch to BNM.

you guys know what is the Automatic Update toggle use for in each pass created in wallet? on vs off?

and another thing, why some pass it group together need swipe left/right
but some is separated

i created TGV, Uniqlo, Starbucks, Family Mart, Watsons, no mater what template i choose, Family Mart and Watsons always group together sweat.gif

[attachmentid=11089036]
*
This is due to pass grouping, note that Generic, Store Card, and Coupon passes with the same group may appear
grouped on Apple Wallet. This is one of the reasons I dislike Pass2U, once you place your pass in a group; it will stay in that group. You can’t edit it after making it. While MakePass allows you to do it.

Automatic Update is suppose to be for apps that support Apple Wallet. So examples you would enable Automatic Update is like when your membership card gained/loss points.
