right time when AW8 to release. Should be Sept timeframe
*
AP doesn't really care what product is launching soon to be released. Some countries (can't remember) can even launch AP out of the blue when it's the tech draught season.
Prepare for the massive sudden spike of AW7 and SE purchases. Also, AW8.

So what other banks will also support. I don’t use AmBank.

Tiger's main app is now being talked in this forum.
Then there's the Ambank SMS.

For me, I'm suspecting P****c, C**B, H***C, O**C to also join the wave. Would be nice if SC joined too.

Citibank no luck ahh 😭

well, there's always hope for them to integrate it bcos across the causeway, UOB and Citibank and SC supports AP. If they collected enough data, who knows most of their users are on iOS and they are willing to just "copy and paste" code from SG counterpart to use it locally.

With the SMS being disseminated by AmBank earlier today(whether deliberate or not), this leaves the subsequent one to be an international/non-local FI.
*
Probably used wrong .env file and accidentally used prod's .env to test.

So it's
1) Tiger
2) Camel
3) hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm so many international ones. If for me, I think it's HSBC/UOB as they have a bigger market here compared to other international FIs in MY.

*edit add
QUOTE(PJng @ Jul 20 2022, 10:17 PM)
If happen, maybe will also same like s pay, slowly add supported bank card
When beta testing only tiger, official launch 4 bank, then now total support 8 banj
*
Spay never really took off I guess. I admit I'm an Apple sheep but tbh, I couldn't hear much about SPay. The news is always about AP AP AP. Plus, I don't see ppl tapping their Samsung (high end) devices on terminals even when they write "SPay available here!" on the terminal/entrance of shop.

Other than add CC into AP, I hope one day we can add tng card into AP for transit.

TnG already so kiamsiap few years back (and still with some car park op) when it comes to car park payments. They want a cut.
Imagine Apple taking a cut of 0.15%.

RM10 + service charge 6% + 0.15% = RM10.615 we end up needing to pay.
They'll come up with some PR announcement BS and say "already can reload TnG eWallet and then reload via your NFC card, why need to use AP?".

QUOTE(Mavik @ Jul 21 2022, 03:29 PM)
At 0.15% it is very low indeed. Standard credit card fees that merchants pay for already is at 1% and other ewallets charge a fee of 1% as well. MyDebit is lower at <1% and other forms like AMEX is >1%
*
If TnG sees this as a good and cheaper way to charge customers, we as consumers are the winner here. I'm all for it if they allow us to put TnG card inside AP but as for now, public transports are taking more or less 100% of the paid value. Asking TnG to give up 0.15% to Apple is gonna make them cry father mother gov need tongkat yada yada.

Hey all, I just did a simple analysis on the day which Apple Pay was announced in the past (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Pay#Availability) and listed below are the results:

Mon: 1 (2.3%)
Tue: 27 (61.4%)
Wed: 10 (22.7%)
Thu: 6 (13.6%)
Fri: 0 (0.0%)

Total: 44 (some announcements covers >1 countries)
Inferring from the past data above and info from @nokia2003, announcement date for Apple Pay in Malaysia could be as follows:
2 Aug 2022
9 Aug 2022

For reference, Apple Pay in these countries/regions were launched in August:
Macau - 6 Aug 2019
Qatar - 17 Aug 2021

Hope these help. Looking forward to AP's launch in Malaysia!!

Apple particularly love Tuesday (local time) announcements.
I've read or seen video somewhere that mentions as follows.

Tuesday - news break out. Media starts scrambling to churn out the news.
Wednesday - talk of the town/socmed/everywhere = create hype
Thursday - Follow socmed ppl know already about it, time for word of mouth to non techie ppl.
Friday - Good amount of ppl know already, launch/sell it.

That's why u always see we can pre-order stuffs on Thursdays and then get it in our hands on Fridays.

Did some further analysis on the Week Of The Month (first day of the month as Week 1) of the past release dates and the results are as follows:
Week 1: 6.8% (3)
Week 2: 22.7% (10)
Week 3: 18.2% (8)
Week 4: 34.1% (15)
Week 5: 18.2% (8)

So I guess past data is pointing towards 9 Aug 2022 more than 2 Aug 2022 (if any of these are correct). With that said, this is based on probability from past data.

Monthly salaryman
Week 1: bills bills bills. People will spend lesser
Week 2: "recovery mode"
Week 3: more geared up to spend as salary is going to be distributed
Week 4: Salary distribution week. SPEND SPEND SPEND

Biweekly salaryman
not much of diff.
Week 1: bills bills bills + recovery
Week 2: salary week. Can spend more
Week 3: bi weekly bills + recovery
Week 4: salary week. spend spend spend.

Yesterday called Tiger CS for some other matter
at the same time I also asked about AP
he said wait for official announcement (soon)
they also dun have any info but internal rumours spread already
looking forward to August  drool.gif

Unless they got caught out of surprise answer like “um, um, sir, um… well, um, please refer to MBB website for any official announcement”, it’s a standard reply by any PR/CS.

Just like how some company PR respond to allegations “we are committed to find out X. Please refrain from speculating to not interfere with the investigations. We will update our website if there’s any updates. TQ.”

9 feels right to me.... but what a long wait! hahaha it's worse when we know the date is coming

let's hope TnG get scared and follow Suica Japan's example. i noticed a lot of parking spaces already accept CC/DC alongside TnG. if the highways and RapidKL start accepting them too (which I heard they're planning to do), then TnG can bungkus already lmao
*
Let's see.

1) TnG card -> terminal gateway
vs
2) TnG card -> AP gateway -> terminal gateway

Why the hell would I (TnG) want to pay extra to AP when I can skimp on the AP gateway middleman?

May I know what makes SP different than AP and why Has SP been available in Malaysia since 2016 and and AP not yet
*
We will probably never know but probably it's regards to % cut each company wants. MAYBE S company is taking relatively low % or even 0% while the fruit company says "flat rate of x%".

I went to Subang Parade recently and they have a notice @ their car park entrance there they say do not use Smartphone or Smart Watch to pay for their parking as it's not compatible. Hmmmm. Their "terminal" is the usual blue visa coloured one.
*
Update here. In the recent light of news that AP is launching here, I went to Subang Parade again recently and guess what, the notice is gone. biggrin.gif I think they are also preparing for it already. I was like a dumbo there jumping of joy when I saw the notice is gone @ the car park. Those beta insider testers, did ya’ll test @ Subang Parade?

Anyone can edit wiki. I can go and edit it now to include the TBAs again and then another person go edit it away. So no point see Wiki. See Lowyat Forum better. HAHAHAHA

I hope that when Apple pay is launched, visa and master card can be added at the same time. I also hope that debit card can also be added, not just credit card. If both are added at the same time, I will be very happy to use Apple pay. If it is partially implemented, it will have to wait. Very sad
*
I think all 3 networks are supported upon launch. There's a forumer here said that about 1-2 weeks ago, they've added support for AmEx in their banking mobile app. So, let's all hope it's all true! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Just a heads up on the iOS update to push AP function, just updated to 16 PB2 like 2 hours ago and still nothing, if I had to guess it’ll probably be a microcode OTA that enables it for phones that has the Malaysia region settings as alluded to before.
*
QUOTE(PoisonSoul @ Sep 7 2021, 05:39 PM)
Anyways, I found something interesting for those understand JSON. Apparently, this is what your phone will request from Apple every time you launch AP.

AP JSON file

Well, continue refreshing this JSON file everyday and hope there’s suddenly MY in there.

Sekian.
*
Maybe you are right on there’s maybe a OTA for AP launch but they can even do it without the OTA if they really want it.

Wait you can remove and reinstall wallet app from the app store right? Possible if they just send an app store update for the wallet app and enable AP through there?
*
iinm, Apple do not update their apps through App Store. They update through General -> Software Updates (normal phone update). The app is in the App Store for the purpose of you to redownload the app back when you need/after you've deleted the app on your phone.

ahh that makes sense, but wouldn't software update mean it will be 15.6.1 already?

Edit : Just read your previous comments, maybe they'll do one without an OS version update, don't think just enable AP will warrant another iOS version.
*
If I remember correctly, I think they always push a x.x.x update for an AP release with some bug misc bug fixes. For instance

iOS 15.x.x
1) Apple Pay is now available in X
2) Fixed bugs

Wouldn't Apple announce it and list all the participating banks first and only then the banks will start rolling out notifications through mobile banking apps?
*
I second this. I believe Apple will announce “first” then only banks will announce. I think they will announce it at the same time or banks are instructed to wait an hour or so only to announce. Rmb, Apple is a master in presentation n ads.

iPay88 macam dun hv terminals. What he saw is the online payment type only as there’s no offline/terminal one for iPay88. Terminals have to go korek eGHL or watever that orange terminal (99 speedmart is using) company for more info. Other terminals are bank based d.

*suddenly rmb, can korek Fasspay also. They got the numpad like terminal too.
