I don't think Samsung Pay need to apply license with BNM? now there are so many Lazada Pay, Shopee Pay, Grab Pay, and Capital A pay. I still don't understand why not APPLE Pay.
*
Samsung Pay I believe went thru similar bureaucracy as AP. On why then BNM is so "pushy" wanting requirement A, B, C for AP, that's something we might never know.
Also, who knows, maybe SP and banks also took them few years doing it at the back without our knowledge (SP was first intro in SK @ 20th Aug 2015 while locally is launched in 24th February 2017).
Maybe SP and AP's backend (disaster recovery etc etc) works different and because of the ever changing and advancement of tech and scams, BNM probably getting stricter and stricter.
And maybe who knows, this AP project by the local banks has only started maybe exactly 1 year ago only. SP took 2 years. So, chill lo. Can those insiders confirm this? hahaha

Btw, Genting has a vending machine in First World Plaza that takes GP, SP and AP.

Guys you may add the MySejahtera Certificate into Health app through Wallet
*
QUOTE(wjleong15 @ Mar 16 2022, 05:20 AM)
How?
*
QUOTE(Mavik @ Mar 16 2022, 08:55 AM)
Step 1: Take a screenshot of your MySejahtera vaccination page (the one with the 3 QR codes)
Step 2: Email that screenshot to a PC/Mac and display the screenshot on the camera
Step 3: Take your iPhone (must be updated to the latest iOS) and open the camera app and scan each QR code
Step 4: When scanning the QR code, you will get a prompt to add that to your Apple Health (repeat X times based on the number of vaccination jabs you got)

To check, go to your Health App and search under Immunisations.

You can't get it into Wallet yet until its certified (still trying to figure that out).
*
Now can add into Apple Wallet too! Those already added into Health, go to Health app and tap on ur covid vaccination details and then tap on the newly enlightened “Add to Wallet” button!

Finally the NFC TnG card coming and taking advantage of iPhone's NFC function

Lets hope this opens up adding tng card to apple pay
*
I think AP eats some small fee on every tap. Recently only TnG willing to let go of 10-20% of the parking surcharge so do you think TnG is gonna let another part of their $$ flow out?

Wishful thinking but I really do hope they do. Not sure with our little AP-enabled neighbour country have their ezlink card able to add into AP or not but afaik, Wise SG’s card can be set to Transit Mode (cause I have it)

I can't fathom how BXM can approve this for child use in school were it can easily be stolen by other student but they can't comprehend the security in Apple Pay

BXM has not been approached by said bank for approval. Article mentioned "currently working on" =/= gotten BXM approval or even evaluation. Just like any other stuff, as long internally or personally trying (with no real world consequences), you do not need the lawmaker/regulator for any approval.

But if BXM approved this, I wonder what said bank did right vs what our "panel" AP banks did wrong that BXM keep wanting for answers.
At most, I personally would only allow this card to be a prepaid card that parents can control. Not even linked to any CASA or even Visa/Master/MyDebit. Just like TnG card but with online control will do.

With these insider infos + recent TnG "scandal" (although highly doubt it has anything to do with AP but now the "mainstream" news is blaming on AP, thanks for the word of mouth spread of Apple Pay), local players and hopefully BNM is now more pressured than ever to be the first to launch/release Apple Pay support in MY.

Don't think so. That account is not official Apple's. Official Apple's will turn off all comments.

New update guys, apple pay will launch real soon, I’ll keep you posted
*
QUOTE(me076310 @ Jul 12 2022, 10:11 AM)
I know the exact date when it will launch, but I can’t tell you. Hopefully there won’t be any hiccups like earlier in the year. As far as i know, only one bank will be supporting apple pay at launch.
*
Well, you have been in this thread for quite sometime but your words are almost identical to those other forumers that said the same and then suddenly AP is pushed back again and again.
No, I'm not saying you are pulling our legs because this is the internet, we can say whatever we want and it's up to us to trust your words or not. If it's true, thank you for being the real truth teller all these while.

Anyways, I choose to trust you. What's there to lose? biggrin.gif
My questions are
1) Colour of bank (if it has 2 or more colours, also can just mention one of the colour will do to remain anonymous)
2) Credit and debit card supported?
3) If you already know the exact date, why would there be hiccups? Does that mean BNM has approved or going-to-approve AP? If already gotten BNM's greenlight, just let us know too.
4) Q3 or Q4? 2022 right?

Answer as many questions or much details as you can. Don't expose yourself too much. Cheers for the AP community that has been yearning for it for years! rclxms.gif

Edit
Bringing back my old post on the JSON file. Gonna refresh it daily for changes. me076310 can confirm that they/you are using this and by seeing there's an "MY" in this, means it's coming/launched?

Lol I doubt Apple Pay is coming soon. I think gpay will be the priority for banks if they even think of it. So no gpay means no Apple Pay logically
*
why GP over AP? Besides the bigger user audience in MY.
AP is automatically supported across almost all devices since iOS 8.1 (which is theoratically ALL devices in today's standard).
Idk about GP but do enlighten me on why banks would prioritise GP over AP?

I've already mentioned the bolded words and yet, reply me with the same thing. Please tell me something else than this.

The main idea of AP and GP is the contactless function and there's not many NFC Android devices are out there while almost all still-iOS-supported iOS devices can use Apple Pay right out of the box.

This is true, i’ve been using apple pay extensively since last December. Apple pay will work as long as the terminal has the ‘wave’ capability. Only a few merchants refuse to accept apple pay even though their terminals support it.

I know you guys here are anxious about apple pay i can feel it from the way you write and ask questions, some had even PMed me 🤣. But rest assured the launch is imminent.
If it somehow failed to materialize, i would never update you all again in this thread.
*
Just update us if fail to materialize pls. Otherwise, we will be riding on false hopes and dreams.

When Apple Pay launched,
it's good for us to reduce cards in our wallet.

BTW, can Apple Pay to be used for shopping mall car park? Like MidValley, The Garden?
If not, we still have to bring our card  hmm.gif

QUOTE(youngwolf2k @ Jul 14 2022, 01:11 PM)
Technically you can use Apple Pay for any terminals that accept major credit cards like Visa PayWave and Mastercard Contactless... I've used my Apple Pay at Empire Shopping Gallery so it works biggrin.gif
*
QUOTE(zoixc @ Jul 14 2022, 02:00 PM)
parking that accept visa also can work ?
*
QUOTE(dannytwk @ Jul 14 2022, 02:04 PM)
yes, as long as the terminal accept pay wave
*
I went to Subang Parade recently and they have a notice @ their car park entrance there they say do not use Smartphone or Smart Watch to pay for their parking as it's not compatible. Hmmmm. Their "terminal" is the usual blue visa coloured one.

Been watching this thread for quite a while now and it’s good to see updates. Currently having both a S10+ and a Xs in my pocket is more than inconvenient. If Apple Pay is here with Harimau bank first, then I’ll be over the moon, if not, guess I’ll just have to apply for the card of whatever bank implements it first.

Although it’s also kinda hard to use even SP in non KL cities as most people(merchants) have never came across SP/AP, have one instance where the merchant outright rejected me trying to pay with SP even though the terminal that was used was definitely supported as I have the same one at my workplace. Hopefully with AP being launched soon there can be some bigger exposure to the general public about using contactless payment without physical cards.. will be waiting patiently and riding on the updates on this thread smile.gif

not much
added amex card last month, push notifications to *AE app …this weekend got another update

I think it's quite obvious it's gonna be tiger. Can start to apply first.

As for your situation, just tell the merchants u wanna do paywave. they will let u wave one.

Already currently using Maybank as my main, but I’d like OCBC starts implementing it first.. then yeah haha.

For the merchant I’m sure it’s just the merchant being stubborn and require actual cards(as weird as that may be), but if Apple Pay launches I reckon it’s gonna give more exposure to the general about this whole kerfuffle about using contactless payments(besides e wallets).
*
I tell you, sometimes when they let us scan their DNQR and they go bonkers when they see u use another eWallet app vs their QR's app.
It all boils down to the merchant willing to teach their staff to not go bonkers when see other eWallet app.
As for accepting AP or not by merchant, I believe they are NOT supposed to disallow us to not pay via AP as the interchange fee is sure to be passed on to consumers. Plus, if I were to use my AP now to scan at even Mr DIY, it will get through. So let's hope that there's no difference in MDR so they wont come and block us from paying with AP.

Apologies, I won’t be able to answer to all (and also deliberately trying to hold back some key information).

To summarise:
1) Apple Pay will indeed be available/supported in Malaysia via Malaysian-based Financial Institutions (FIs), in the near future i.e. soon
2) There will be a mix of local and foreign FIs
3) In order for your plastic(s) to work, it has to be pre-registered and pre-authorised prior.

Hope this clarifies.
*
Interesting. What do you mean by pre-register and pre-auth? What extra stuff do we still need to do as a consumer other than just adding our plastic to Apple Wallet/Pay?

Also, how soon? Soon in Y2022? Soon in Y2023? Q1? Q2? Q3 Q4?

Answer as much as you can.

The pre-registration and pre-authorisation step is only applicable to pilot users. Upon go-live, users will be able to add their respective plastic(s) seamlessly.

There will be a PR/announcement during the first two weeks of August 2022.
It will be the former  smile.gif

SWEET! Can’t wait for the first 2 weeks of August 2022! Fingers cross everyone! At least 13 days to go!

Will Apple Pay comes with certain benefits (such as points collection like S*Pay) or will be just for convenience?
*
Never see b4 AP has any benefits other than convenience only. Those benefits could probably be handled by respective FI to attract ppl to use AP.
