iPay88 does provide terminals, been to many stores (99 speedmart included) that uses the same orange-colored Sunmi device with iPay88 printed on receipt.

Hey Apple Pay nerds, I have managed to get Apple Pay in Malaysia. This is not using a local/Malaysian card and a Visa prepaid card. I managed to get it without going overseas and being a Malaysian resident. Would you like me to share more?

Not Wise, it’s another method but it does not use MYR as a default currency.

Honestly tho, sorry for the pessimism but maybe I should just try the Wise method for now and get a feel for AP, rather than waiting for something thats not yet been officially announced.

I wonder if the other players will join in as even in Singapore, there are limited cards available to be used for Apple Pay and they have loads of different banks and players there.

I think technically it’s possible for TnG to do AP in viewing the recent NFC version of TNG card made available, it’s just a question whether they want it or not. In fact, also depends on how they’d see this AP as a new way of selling their cards. Why? Think about it: the new NFC TNG card is so hot right now that they got sold out seconds after every restock. And coincidently, AP virtual transport card would be able to solve this issue as the cards can now be made available instantly thru the AP platform (look at how Japanese, Hongkongers can purchase their Suica & Octopus card thru AP). Besides, they can in fact charge customer with same price as the physical card yet don’t even have to worry about chip shortage/ordering those chip anymore since it’d be all virtual.

I don’t personally think they can succeed with that, because for prepaid Visa card we already have a big player here, the MAE.
