iPay88 does provide terminals, been to many stores (99 speedmart included) that uses the same orange-colored Sunmi device with iPay88 printed on receipt.

hahaha relax guys, speculation and overanalysing only cause anxiety. The Apple Pay will launch soon, your credit cards if they are eligible will be activated before Apple launches the service officially.

Enthusiasts love speculating n over analysing about the thing(s) they are into it. It also keeps the thread going/alive n interesting. biggrin.gif

Hey Apple Pay nerds, I have managed to get Apple Pay in Malaysia. This is not using a local/Malaysian card and a Visa prepaid card. I managed to get it without going overseas and being a Malaysian resident. Would you like me to share more?
*
Wise? I think most of here knows how to get it already. Just wait a few more days and we will get it officially here (read: rumoured).

Not Wise, it’s another method but it does not use MYR as a default currency.

Revolut? N26?

QUOTE(Hosli @ Aug 1 2022, 09:45 PM)

I am not Malaysian I’m just a student in Malaysia and MayBank user

Wait for The1stHumanBeing 's long guide. Let's see how we can go about that route.

Check if your home country's bank support AP. If they do, you're in luck!

For those really want it, go ahead. For the rest of us, let's just wait either tmr or next Tuesday (read: speculation dates) for the official announcement of AP launching in MY.

SG issued wise card after switch back to Malaysia,
if ur spending in MYR, will it deduct ur wise SG account balance? or MYR account balance
*
Im holding the SG issued wise card, then later switch account to MY.

I have 3 currencies in the Wise account: MYR, SGD and EUR.

When I first started, I only had SGD balance. I tapped @ McD MY, of course it charged to my SGD balance.
Then I opened MYR currency. I tapped @ 99 speedmart, it eats from my MYR.

Conclusion: terminal tells card "hey, i want RMx", card will say "ok, i give u RMx. Oops takde RMx. Let me give you my default currency SGD." or "ok, here's RMx.".

Honestly tho, sorry for the pessimism but maybe I should just try the Wise method for now and get a feel for AP, rather than waiting for something thats not yet been officially announced.

So anyone have a link to threads that teach you how to go about the wise method?

Like what? Touch’nGo? I don’t think so.
*
ipay88, eGHL, Razer Merchant Services etc etc.

Do note that I do not know if they are launching or not AP as they are just examples except iPay88 where there’s a forumer say he have seen it in action by iPay88.

I wonder if the other players will join in as even in Singapore, there are limited cards available to be used for Apple Pay and they have loads of different banks and players there.

Of course I hope our ancient TnG tech is also supported at least on public transports. I don't forsee it working on highways (I don't mind this as come on, how u gonna tap ur phone/watch on the reader LOL).

QUOTE(megustatu @ Aug 3 2022, 10:00 AM)
I think technically it’s possible for TnG to do AP in viewing the recent NFC version of TNG card made available, it’s just a question whether they want it or not. In fact, also depends on how they’d see this AP as a new way of selling their cards. Why? Think about it: the new NFC TNG card is so hot right now that they got sold out seconds after every restock. And coincidently, AP virtual transport card would be able to solve this issue as the cards can now be made available instantly thru the AP platform (look at how Japanese, Hongkongers can purchase their Suica & Octopus card thru AP). Besides, they can in fact charge customer with same price as the physical card yet don’t even have to worry about chip shortage/ordering those chip anymore since it’d be all virtual.
*
iOS adoption rate is low here. Don't think can get enough revenue to cover the AP fees. If they gonna go TnG + AP, how much you think RapidKL is getting?
AP takes %
TnG takes %
RapidKL is left with peanuts.

QUOTE(megustatu @ Aug 3 2022, 10:07 AM)
I don’t personally think they can succeed with that, because for prepaid Visa card we already have a big player here, the MAE.
*
one thing the nowhere to be seen TNG prepaid Visa card is reloadable via CC while MAE can't. MAE is direct from your SA.

Can u show us another photo of the credit card in Apple Watch

CC clovercliff: SG's Wise card looks like this on AW.
CC Hosli: Sorry, I don't have MY FI cards. I'm just another person here following the hype.
Basically, your cards will also look like this (next week hopefully). Just a replica of your current card in digital format. My physical Wise card or just google wise card is 100% exactly the same with the picture. Well, exception is there's no "chip" la hahaha.

As we move closer to the launch, I went snooping around YouTube and I hope they (AP x TnG) can do this here for our public transport. At the very least, come on.

I have never really bothered with Apple Pay cause it was never available here. So it seems it’s going to arrive soon? How does it work actually? Does it work like Samsung Pay last time?

I have been using GrabPay, collecting so many rewards points.
