Let’s see, now Apple Malaysia website don’t even have the Apple Pay webpage (The page you’re looking for can’t be found) , see if they will update one.
*
There was once (around last year Nov) where I went into that particular page with "/my" and the whole page was just plain white. Not even Apple's error message. At that time, I thought, wow it's coming because only "/my" one has issue. I crossed checked "/th" and "/ph" (countries with no AP) and they got the standard Apple error message. As I was typing to inform everyone here, I went back to check the page again (which is like 1-2mins after), standard Apple error message appear already. Not sure what's happening but then since there's no more evidence (I wanted to go back and take a screenshot), I did not post anything.

White page = not even the header navigation. Just plain white.

I think I owe you guys a little update on the apple pay development here in Malaysia since I have been partially involved in getting your hopes up.

Well, initially the service was scheduled to be launched before March 2022, but due to unforeseen reasons from the Central Bank, the launch is currently pending until further notice.

Sorry guys.
*
creep can kinda confirm this? Since you are the only insider here that updates us.

Almost 6 year since I open this topic and until this moment Malaysia likely would not have Apple pay in short time :/
*
At first was probably banks do not want to take the initiative to pick it up until stakeholder or public pressure.
Now, from what we see, looks like BNM is the one cock blocking now. SP and AP looks very similar, not sure why BNM is cock blocking AP.

Last years rumor says Apple is on discussions to open Malaysia's first apple store on The Exchange TRX Mall which is set to open this year, pointing we might get AP this year hopefully
*
Opening of an Apple Store != getting Apple Pay.
Look at TH.

driftmeister when did you and/or a team delivered the explanation to BNM. I remember saying they should respond within 21 days or something. Is it usual for them to take that long to respond or the response was only sent recently?
*
BNM busy with that 5 digital banking license la now. Haha. No time/mood for Apple Pay.

not sure bro i only can update on IT/technical part
from the RAM (risk assessment matrix) form
UAT start - 3rd Nov 2021
UAT end - 17 Dec 2021
Effective/implementation date - 5th jan 2022

it’s under BAU (Business As Usual) not project anymore so our part all done except when there’s an update/patch …From my experience final decision will always from Business team
*
Thanks creep for this detailed update. What do you mean by the status on 5th Jan? What does implementation date means? Does it mean that the "code" to use AP is already in the production side just that, for now, if user tries to add your bank's card, it will just deny? Just waiting for Business Team to say ok, and IT side will "flip the switch" to allow us to add the cards?

I heard Mydin in the midst of setting up their POS system to allow user to pay using apple pay.. i hope the good news is real... icon_idea.gif
*
There’s literally nothing to set up LOL. So I think you heard wrong. I can go to Mydin or 99 or 7-11 or any merchant now that accepts my CC network then it will pass already.

nah... u are wrong. although the tech is there (NFC), they still need a software to accept the payment type "apple pay".

so just wait and see until they finish the setup their pos counter.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Doesnt make sense. I think I’ve seen a video which looks like Mydin, the person was using AP to pay (somewhere in Johor pre-pandemic times) and it pass/approved.

Unless u mean their own POS and not the terminal?

AP not here yet so people dont know how it works. terminal dont need to have 'AP' category to accept AP. AP is the same as you tapping your CC just that your CC info is digitize into AP thats all

there is no additional settings to add or change in existing terminals
but people will argue about this anyway to stay relevant including the people saying its coming soon™ just waiting for this and that approval altho its been months already and yet no update.

gonna have to unsubscribe to this topic soon since its just clickbaits now haha

you can use AP on any terminal that accepts CC / DC just that the cards will be oversea cards and not malaysian cards. unless you wanna argue that msia terminal so geng they update the terminal to accept oversea AP before msia even have their own AP????
*
Unsub la. Some of us wants it so badly so we will be like hardcore fans here trying to dig out as much info and try to believe as much info that is spewed here.

their pos need to be updated with new patch that support apple pay.

Nice. This is the first picture showing tiger bank has a card in it. So yeah, safe to say tiger bank will be one of them that will support AP upon launch? Can’t wait!

Ok, so now who wants to borrow this pic to shoot central bank?😂 they always said they no larang, it is up to bank to roll out. Now where is the approval?
*
From the picture, can see it's almost a month ago they already testing this @ Mydin USJ. Also, BNM no larang for internal testing. You need approval from BNM for public rollout. This is all just dummy values going in and out shown AP and Mydin's POS.

Same, changed region to SG and AU as well, no luck, returned error messages. Maybe you're one of the chosen ones😎.
*
Sadly, I’m not a frequent customer of Boost. I just created the account bcos earlier in the days I use to drink it and now, meh. So having it is almost no use. cry.gif

Btw NoobSaibot this is what I meant. Mydin already can process AP since this tweet’s posted time which is year 2020. So idk what is Mydin trying to do here “need to update POS”.

why still no bank integrating google pay and Apple Pay to do payment, public transport, banking system in Malaysia? It will be a big hit if they do so. They can gain so much market share for free just by doing this. Don't they want to earn money? Malaysia banks are so weird.

Looks like going to Q2 2022 then.

And then Q3. Then Q4. Then Q1 2023.
The cycle repeats.

Fresh, harimau bank claimed that apple not even making any communication with them yet....
user posted image

That’s a standard reply from MBB lol. U can find other replies from MBB regards to Apple Pay. Mind you that that account is managed by Customer Service and not some high ranking ppl inside MBB. Customer Service also may be sub out to another company. Whatever info they have, they are being told to answer ABC only. They cannot sway too far off from the template answer given.

If you go ask BNM, they will more or less reply you the same thing only. Heck, even other banks or BigPay or whatever.

And what makes you think CS will have info about AP when our fellow insiders here have probably signed NDA to not even speak anything about it to the public? This is probably like a trade secret you know, except this is a service secret, in the competition to see which bank can quietly make it happen first in MY and be ahead of other banks to bring in more revenue. The only time CS will have any slight info would probably be after MBB website updates to say “coming soon” or similar.

*edit add on
Oh yeah, that sentence “we have yet to receive any official communication regarding Apple Pay service” is actually meant “We as Customer Service, have yet to receive any updated info from our higher level/mgmt to reply you in regards to your query on this Apple Pay service. At best, we were told to reply you this only”.
