QUOTE(acbc @ Feb 12 2020, 10:48 PM) Local banks are resisting Apple Pay because need to share some % with Apple. Who would share profits with a competitor anyway? Well would you rather share tiny amount of fee or let your customers go to new incumbents? This is a business decision that smart executives would know best. But our execs are mostly dumb asses! |

QUOTE(value_investor @ Feb 12 2020, 10:42 PM) Malaysian banks are so stupid not supporting Apple Pay and prefer to watch as Boost, TnG and Grab take their market share. Apple Pay & Android Pay are their only weapon to fight back eWallet incumbents! I agree, coz i see ppl start using ewallet more than credit cards. But think about it, most people topup their ewallet using credit card (like me and my wife). Maybe there are bank charges to those ewallet company like how they charge merchants whose accept credit card? That's why they don't really care about it yet? |

Yes but long term e-wallets will figure out ways to cut CC off to improve their margins once they dominate the market. QUOTE(vincenttan89 @ Nov 19 2019, 05:47 PM) I suggest u cancel that UK account via email, and/or sign up a new Spanish Boon account. Thanks for the head up n guide, had tried and successfully verified as boon plus. This is because the UK account can only topup via Faster Payment, while Spanish one can topup via bank transfer or telegraphic transfer (TT). I sign up on iPhone, after download that Boon. app, then **set Region to Spain in iPhone setting first** (you can switch back later), then fill in your info... In order to use the Boon. prepaid Mastercard via Apple Pay worldwide, you'll need to upgrade to Boon. Plus account by submitting your photo, passport frontpage, your ultility bill or bank statement (no PDF), or your driving licence (front and back) to proof your identity and address. Yes, you don't need an Europe address or phone number to sign up, they just want to make sure your info is true. You can only top up via bank transfer or telegraphic transfer (TT), credit card issued outside EU cannot. Once you get signed up, you'll get a virtual prepaid Mastercard, and a Germany based bank account number. For bank transfer via local bank is expensive, RM10 for each transfer via Maybank TT, and RM25 with RHB bank. So I use Skrill to do bank transfer. The rate is OK. For Skrill, you'll need to sign up an account and get verified (similar to above steps). Skrill can topup with your debit or credit card, and it takes about one business day to process. Normally when I topup at 3pm (8am in Europe), and the fund would be received at 9pm, or latest by 3pm the next day. I feel cool when I use Apple Pay here in Malaysia haha, and I can also use it as Transit Link while riding MRT in Singapore. I think this card is quite good card for overseas (by connected it to applepay & googlepay) & do some overseas online transaction. I think it somehow same as bigpay, did not charge FX fees like other bank credit card do. Found their new app when go to register yesterday on their website. Boon.planet https://www.beboon.com/de/en/boon-planet With Germany bank account & Debit Card, deposit to the bank account have interest earned. I just get it verified. Will try to figure it out, the card also can save in ApplePay. This post has been edited by SzeMeng76: Feb 16 2020, 12:25 AM |

I don’t know how you guy’s do it.
I registered via the app, put random Spain address and proceed to verification for plus only to get rejected because obviously my address on my utility is in Malaysia and the support said they cannot proceed for applications not in supported countries. Really need to set this up. Dammit |

The address did not show full address in Malaysia, I think they just want confirm you are providing a true address not fake address. I just got approved with this way.
