ICAEW brah.

If you don't mind me asking, what bachelors degree enables you to claim full exemption for both ACCA and ICAEW?

Do u still get exemptions if u take ICAEW? If ACCA u get exemptions for the papers that u have already covered in your BA. Last time uni mate have to take ICAEW from stratch after getting 1st Hons BA in Accounting and Finance
*
yes, last time ICAEW came to our uni and held a talk. confirmed full exemption.

my knowledge about ICAEW is very, very shallow. i know almost everything about ACCA on its surface though.

You must be a uk graduate then?

Icaew requirement iinm, you'll need to work for the accredited employee to count towards your work experience.. In Malaysia, not so much option on the employer, big 4, petronas, few others.. Acca a bit more option there...

My brother doing his icaew... Now stucked at final paper.. Only one more to go, but the toughest..

Acca easy nowdays.. My time, have to pass all 3 final paper at one go.. Nowdays the requirement more relaxed on this..

It's the same.

Only students and fresh grads care about the difference. a.k.a ICAEW is more prestigious, this and that, etc.

Employers don't give a damn.

Both are the same. For fresh grads, Big 4s will take in both. Once you are in, it's your performance that counts. At the end of the day, it's your experience and your PR that counts.

What happens outside Malaysia, I don't know.

In Malaysia, employers don't give a damn whether u're ACCA, CPA Aust, ICAEW, etc.

In Australia, employers give preference to holders of CPA Australia/ICAA due to national pride and have low regards on ACCA holders.

Actually he got both

Career

He worked very briefly with Virgin Atlantic as an auditor, subsequently becoming the financial controller for Richard Branson's Virgin Records in London from 1987 to 1989.[11]

Fernandes was admitted as Associate Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 1991 and became Fellow Member in 1996. He is currently a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Fernandes was formerly a Warner Music executive in Malaysia.[12] He was the South East Asian regional vice-president for Warner Music Group from 1992 to 2001.

When Time Warner Inc announced its merger with America Online Inc., Fernandes left to pursue his dream of starting a budget no-frills airline.

In September 2001, Fernandes purchased AirAsia and became its chief executive.[13][14]
