yeap..spending the rest of the time in Busan..

The places that u mentioned are they close to each other? and whats the best way to move around these places?
*
some are near and some are not. since you have less time there i suggest you to hired a taxi to bring you around. at least you can cover more places and also they will recommend you which place of eateries and places to go.. so you will not wasting your time finding your way around

Hi all sifus/experts, is it a good time to visit Korea (Seoul + Jeju Island) around middle of September? Around 12th Sep, for 8 days.

I searched online for the temperature forecast, it will be around 26 to 27 degree C. Wouldn't it be still hot? Coz I thought that time should be Autumn dy, so didn't expect the temperature to be still that high (thought should be around 21 ~ 22 degree C only).

Is it OK/comfortable to walk around Seoul City and Jeju Island with this temperature?
Or should I go during end of September where the temperature would be lower?

Thanks in advance!
*
sep still warm and hot. if you prefer cooler weather. go during middle of oct. some place foliage started also

Thanks Yvonne! Middle of Oct might not be able to make it, early Oct should be OK right? As long as it's slightly cooling like Genting Highland indoor, and won't sweat while walking around the street.

Seemed Sep is really not a good choice.
*
early oct still warm cause end of summer and wanna start transition to autumn but also depends on weather. guess at least better than sep. nowadays global warming issue, causing the weather also haywire. i just back from seoul last week. went there beginning of the month. thought will be getting warmer. who knows still cold especially the wind blows sweat.gif

if you are those easily sweat person, walking around on the street sure sweat.. need to walk alot if you r taking subway or public transport

Hi eric, thanks for your info, for sure gonna get a lot of beauty products from there lol.

Btw is your airbnb accommodation nice? Roughly how much per night? I'm thinking of going for airbnb too. Wanna experience living in a Korean house a bit. Were you staying at the same place throughout the 6 nights?
*
i thought you mentioned won't shop lot? tongue.gif if you wanna buy cheaper beauty products, buy it during weekend. usually they have sales on weekend compare to weekdays. for 15k more than enough unless every meal you also spend on expensive restaurants, stay in nicer hotel or taking cab everyday eventhough our currency is weak compare to previously biggrin.gif . i went for cafe hopping or keep makan around including some shopping tongue.gif me and my partner use around 7k++ for 7 days but we didn't go to any attractions except palace just for the fun of taking hanbok pics haha.. for some they might think expensive.. as different people have different travel style or budget

i didn't went to airbnb doesn't means living in korean traditional house such as hanok.. it can be apartment or condo.

Hahaha since Eric mentioned that beauty products are cheap, why not shop more?  biggrin.gif
Plan to shop a bit for some clothes and souvenirs too, but not too excessive coz worry later luggage becomes too heavy  sweat.gif

For meals, plan to mainly just go for street food and some korean bbq. Also the fried chicken too since it is like soooooo popular.

Thanks for the airbnb tip, if that's the case then I think maybe I just stick with some decent hotels  smile.gif

Do you think 8 days 7 nights for Seoul + Jeju is good enough? Will it be too rush? Shall I add one or two more days? We are mostly the relaxing type of travelers, won't squeeze in too much places to visit in one day, coz as others in this thread say, holiday is meant for relaxing not rushing  thumbsup.gif
*
beauty products is ain't cheap anymore compare to previously. also depends on what brand you are purchasing tongue.gif

impossible u everyday eat street food plus street food also can cost u a lot haha.. for me not really worth it. few times to try ok. if every time, the $$ better use it to take better meal hehehe.. eat some soupy foods too cause too much bbq and fried chicken will cause heaty haha

you may survey airbnb, guesthouse and hotel to compare the price..

9D8N or more would be better if you wanna explore Jeju. you need at least minimum 3 days to explore Jeju

Hahaha street food really that expensive in Korea huh? Then I will mix street food with some nice restaurant treats.

Thanks for the suggestion, then I think I will add two more days to my original plan, go for 10D9N instead of 8D7N. Didn't expect Jeju Island is so big  sweat.gif

Just got Air Asia flight tickets to Korea in October, will be spending 11 days there.

Would like to ask about whether this plan is OK:

Day 1 reach Seoul around 3pm. Stay for one night.

Day 2 morning straight fly to Jeju from Gimpo, stay for 3 nights.

Day 5 morning fly back to Seoul. Day 5 to Day 11 spend in Seoul.

Because I worry if stay in Seoul first, when need to go to Jeju, need to carry heavy luggage (extra items from shopping trip in Seoul). While in Jeju I think won't shop much kot.

Is the above plan reasonable?

Haha yup good suggestion, I think the first day when I reach Seoul I will just go straight to Jeju. Plan to spend 4 days in Jeju before flying back to Seoul.
6 ~ 7 days in Seoul I think still OK, actually I was thinking of spending few days in Busan too, but too bad already bought the flight ticket back, which is from Incheon to KLIA.

First time visiting Korea, didn't know Busan also have flights back to M'sia.

And the train fee from Seoul to Busan is so expensive  sweat.gif

If I visit Korea again next time, I think I will focus on Busan area.
*
jeju is big and some attractions from another is quite a distance. driving speed there got limit so can't speed so it takes longer time to reach haha.. it's a place to chill and relax though. i suggest to rent a car there..

the plan is ok. you can either stay few days in seoul before depart to jeju. you can store your luggage in the guesthouse or hotel and bring a small bag over to jeju. condition is that when you return back to seoul you have to stay back at the same place.. go to KTO msia take the booklet. they have some useful voucher for you to use. actually the train fee is reasonable price ler..

Noted and thanks for the suggestion, still thinking of whether to put Jeju Island at the beginning of the trip or in the middle of the trip...

Will go to KTO msia next time when I am in KL. Thanks for this tip too!

Train fee from Seoul to Busan actually is reasonable because the distance is almost one end to another end. But travel to and fro would cost too much for my wife and myself  sweat.gif
Yup plan to spend one whole day in Everland. 5d4n in Jeju so long  blink.gif Might consider this as well if the number of activities in Jeju really can fill in the whole 5 days. But for relaxing purpose and honeymoon, I guess spending more time in Jeju might be more suitable right? Only worry we will be bored if running out of activities to do and places to visit in Jeju.
*
depends what is your need. you can opt for korail pass and it's cheaper also in a group. jeju for 5 days actually is quite long unless you are those who like nature and scenery. also most of the place close very early. basically at night you have nothing to do unless you are in jeju city. 6-7 days is actually just nice in seoul if you slowly explore.. since you will be going to everland. one day gone. if you are planning to go nami island, petite france and surrounding also almost 1 day gone. if you are going to dmz or suwon also almost 1 day gone.. brows.gif

Both my wife & me are not really fanatical nature lovers, I would say average regarding nature's activities. Thus I guess we should focus more on Seoul City since she really loves historical buildings and palaces.

Most likely will stick with 4d Jeju and 7d Seoul.

Yup going to visit all the places that you mentioned, also gonna look for a lot of different food to try. Both of us are food lovers  rclxm9.gif

By the way would like to ask, normally for people who go to Jeju, need to buy ticket in advance or can just buy on the spot? I just checked the ticket price, about RM220 per person only for return tickets. Should I buy it now? Or can wait until two months before departure (in case of any plan changes).
*
haha.. than 4d in jeju and 7d in seoul would be nice. normally will buy jeju flight earlier as have promo. you also can buy on the spot but you will have the risk of ticket might sold out. for local nvm la.. but you are a tourist and your accommodation is fix so it's better not to take the risk.

OK noted, will buy the tickets beforehand.

Currently in progress of surveying for hotels. Any comments on these hotels?

Jeju - plan to stay in Seogwipo/South side as recommended for first timers.

This one looks quite good value for money.

Link

While for Seoul stay, plan to stay in Jongno coz most of the attractions are nearby here. Is Center Mark hotel OK?

Link..
Haha yup a bit worried about not enough rest on the plane. Hopefully manage to rest well, otherwise first day in Jeju straightaway wasted  sweat.gif

Thanks for the info regarding Korean Air, gonna survey this airline too if the price is not too expensive compare to Jetstar, worth if it allows free cancellation  thumbup.gif

For sure will get the flights beforehand as advised by you & Yvonne. Thanks.
*
err in my opinion, it's not necessary to take korean air to jeju la.. short distance only. budget airline will do. u can try air busan, or eastarjet or jejuair. keep an eye on this as they will have promo now and then. during promo, their ticket is quite cheap.

i can't recommend any hotel as i never stay in hotel in korea. haha.. usually i will opt for guesthouse or apartment. will you drive in jeju? or hired a taxi? if you hired a taxi, staying at seogwipo or jeju city is not really a concern. if you drive yourself, you can stay at seogwipo cause few main attractions is around there.. for first timer in seoul, i recommend to stay near myeongdong or dongdaemun area.. at night it's more lively and you can walk out and explore around (at least more to see) without worry to catch the last train back to your hotel

Haha just checked cheapest flights from Gimpo to Jeju, those budget tickets 3-Oct until 6-Oct all sold out! Need to postpone Jeju trip to 7-Oct or 8-Oct dy in order to get cheap tickets  sweat.gif

Yup I will drive in Jeju. Any car rental companies are OK right?

OK then will choose to stay in Myeongdong. That one not that worry coz a lot of nice hotels around there.
*
usually once promo lotsa people will grab.. hehe..

you may try to check lotte rent a car. register as member as they have member price. you will only see the member price once you log in.

yes there are quite a few hotels around myeongdong

Already settled everything for jeju trip. Flight tickets RM1050 for two ppl :swt: almost half the price of air asia x tickets.

Car rental about RM480 for four days.

Seemed like no budget for hotel stay in seoul dy. Need to go for apartments dy lol. Any nice service apartments near myeongdong to intro?
RM400 for per person one-way right? Yup not much difference from t-way jeju flight (i booked mine for RM500 per person for return tickets). Wondering why the tickets to jeju are so expensive, while from jeju to gimpo are so cheap.
*
when is your travel date? very less budget hotel in korea la.. those budget one you won't wanna stay on it. nice or better one is not cheap. you try search airbnb if you want to look out for apartment. else check out guesthouse.

Hi, may I know the ssamziegil mall in insadong vs dongdaemun, which one is cheaper for me to buy souvenir as in clothing (male)?
*
what kind of clothing? neither both area is cheap cause touristy area. stuffs inside ssamziegil aint cheap. clothing you can find it everywhere. not necessary to buy at these 2 places unless specific ones. insadong area you can find more traditional souvenirs.. but all these you can find in those markets as well

For food wise... singapore more expensive than seoul or seoul is more expensive? Lets say a meal in the CBD

hmm.gif if you say spending wise using rm (after conversion) in sg and seoul which is more expensive, i would say more or less the same.. depends on what what food you eat. sometimes can get cheaper food in sg and vs. actually hard to compare ler.. portion wise, seoul is bigger compare to sg. our rm in sg is like x3.. in seoul is like x4 hahaha

Meaning.. in seoul is more expensive in terms of food right?
*
as musteng mentioned. it's very subjective. can't compare as their standard of living is higher than us. what they spend is like normal. if you don't convert it, actually it's cheap.. but once you convert, you will feel it's expensive compare it to msia. but it's more or less the same price as msia.. korean food in msia also not cheap but portion wise, seoul is better, quality and taste is better. so for the amount you spend, it's consider worth la..

since you travel there, just enjoy whatever it's there.. imho cause we travel is to enjoy haha biggrin.gif
