would love to get one just for Ultra wide landscape and fun of it. 12mm out of budget for me - be it 12-40 / 12-32 or oly 12mm.
since its just around RM600, not bad for a beginner  biggrin.gif

what really nice of this lens is - everything is quite sharp / in focus.
*
You hand-held the shots is it? Really quite sharp this Rokinon 7.5mm. Love the greens wub.gif

A bit too wide for me too sweat.gif

I think 9mm (after converting the 12-32 with a wide-angle converter) is the widest for me at the moment, can't accept the distortion at the background sometimes, but this can be easily corrected in pp.

yeah. hand held. gotta crop off the corner and straighten it in PP/LR  biggrin.gif
why la lens price won't drop like body pricing  tongue.gif
*
Most of the shots from my 9mm (converted 12-32) are surprisingly straight enough unless you observe closely, very little straightening needed. But for the 7.5 I am pretty sure you will need straightening or 'de-fish' is this the term photog use (like someonesim) to straightening a hugely distorted image he he..learn a new word notworthy.gif

Lenses are better investment in the long run than cam bodies which is true in the old days but apparently this trend has become rather blur/obsolete in the digital world as newer more modern versions are produced, even more so for cam bodies. One lens I find that defies this is the Panny 20/1.7, still a gem in our m4/3 world, hey it is the one and only 20mm lens! I have my 1st 20mm in 2009 and I still have one in my bag, 8 years later notworthy.gif Though I don't shoot it much this days.

QUOTE(Someonesim @ Apr 5 2017, 07:44 AM)
I briefly tested 9-18, 9mm really was wide and good, but still itchy want widest. That day met one photog that used to own Samyang 7.5 and he said sharp enough, if defish still usable  hmm.gif

Ya our curiosity sometimes got the better of us and we just had to have a hands-on, itchy mah... laugh.gif

Pros and cons of not live in Japan, difficult to test lens.
I spend just one hour at Japan's camera store ( a relatively small branch only ) and spend RM10XX already  cry.gif  Cant imagine the damage if I have more time  shakehead.gif

You should be joyful like a kid in a candy store for the first time he he rclxm9.gif So lucky you got something back for spending only one hour, i envy you already. I normally spend hours and hours doing research and dong a lot of reading before deciding. See, your lucky already, one hour only? whistling.gif Very well spent thumbup.gif

Such a simple photograph yet it won the hearts of the judges. The timing of the shot is spot on. The composition is so warm so homely so "kampung-ish" and the main subjects stand out so prominently that they catch onlookers instantly. Simple yet tell so much story notworthy.gif

I already tested long time ago, 12-35 @ f2.8 and f4 will be sharper than Oly 12 @ f2.8 and f4. So the purpose of Oly 12 is the need for f2.0 for low light (or maybe a bit more of background blur) and just for the size and weight advantage. 12-40 is even sharper at 12mm compare to 12-35 from corner to corner.  biggrin.gif
*
Thanks for the nice info bro! Size is still of paramount importance to me. So 12mm f2.0 it is. Black version of course he he rclxm9.gif

I forget to stress, unless you are pixel peeping you won't be able to tell which photo is taken with Panny 12-35 and which one by Oly 12. They are both sharp enough for most usage.
*
Not a pixel-peeper myself so I am ok with the Oly 12/2.0. I just couldn't wait to get my hands on the Oly 12mm. drool.gif

Would like to ask which one is better Sony Alpha A5000 or Lumix Gf8?
*
GF8 no doubt thumbsup.gif despite it being a 16mp sensor only but its newer, smaller and has much more lens selection. But if you can get a cheaper A5000 then why not?

Sony festival/promo now I think, A5000 about 2.3K only but I rather top up a bit and get EM5 + 12 50 ( weather seal  rclxms.gif  )

Good idea thumbup.gif

Isn't worth for the price to buy secondhand Olympus EPL-7 without memory card RM1K? Used 2 years time
*
Is this with kit lens or just cam body alone? If combo with kit lens I would say its a fair price. If cam body alone then it's rather pricey, you still have to top up to get a lens.

I had received my 12/2.0 a couple days ago (after a long wait of nearly 10 days ranting.gif), a black handsome unit, and had tested it for AF speed and the clutch manual focus, both working perfectly.

The lens looks smaller than I expected, probably because its without the hood. I am looking for after-market lens hood for this baby and not the ori one which costs a bomb.

42.5mm seems very long and may not balance also right.

Is 42.5mm best for portrait shoot?
*
Sure can but the best lens for portraiture from the m4/3 camp is said to be the portrait king Oly 75mm f1.8, can make really really delicious bokeh notworthy.gif

But the price, any review can justify the price tag ?

The following link is from a reviewer at last year's 2016 Photokina using a prototype of the lens and seems he has some positive views of the lens, have a read:

3d-kraft on Laowa 7.5mm f2.0

Now accepting pre-orders at venuslens pre-orders. I have ordered mine (the lightweight version), I just couldn't resist this lens wub.gif which I have been waiting for quite some time to come along. I haven't seen any rectilinear lens for m4/3 at that wide and at f2.0!! I am heavily poisoned wub.gif

Price: US$499 (+/- RM2.1k) for the standard version and US$519 (+/- RM2.2k) for the lightweight version.

Now it looks like worthy investment  hmm.gif

I have been resisting fish-eye due to their heavy distortion and now came the Laowa 7.5mm f2.0, made-in-china, coupled with such small size, how can I resist? I have always been a big fan of UWA, my 12-32+GW1 setup making this a 9mm is already the max I would go, although there are clearly some distortion.

just read this lens on 43rumour website. damn nice at f2!!
still searching around for 12-40mm....all 2nd hand price really linger around SGD800 sia, same for pana 12-35 as well. sweat.gif
*
I was earlier thinking about either the 12-40 or the 12-35 but still couldn't accept the bigger size that's why I got the smallish 12/f2.0. The Laowa 7.5/f2.0 is quite close in size to the 12/f2.0.

QUOTE(sai86 @ Apr 30 2017, 11:55 PM)
biggrin.gif i'm a cheapskate. still waiting someone to sell at around RM2k.
12-100 f4 vs 12-40 f2.8,  hmm.gif  the extra stops or longer reach.

*
I say why not the 12-100 since you can shoot portraits with it and cover some mid-telephoto shots too thumbup.gif Unless you really need the brighter f2.8 which I doubt it.

Standard - 200g vs 150g lightweight (also specifically for drone). i say go for the lightweight version as it only add <$20.

I go for the lightweight version too, but the pricing seems a bit funny, lightweight doesn't mean cheaper shakehead.gif a better material is used perhaps?
