I just tried using my backpack over the AMG weekend and it was definitely more comfortable on my shoulders compared to my old bag, plus I was carrying 2 bodies + 3 lenses + the 100-400mm lens

Backpack is the way to go for me ad laugh.gif
*
With that amount of gears on your shoulder you will feel it in a very short time, in my last 2 overseas trip I had a single strap much like the lowepro messenger but a little bigger and I had only a few things weighted probably less than 3 kgs and I had quite an uncomfortable time. Yes I thing the backpack is the best.

for long trips, hiking and carrying tripod around, backpack is the way to go.
i find slingbag is not spacious enough for 2 bodies + 4 lenses along with my snacks and water bottle.
i use sling bag when i carry only 1 body with kits lens and that will be a m43 / mirrorless system.
for DSLR i use backpack all the way.

sweat is secondary, i prioritize a backpack that has the most comfortable straps and cushion for the back the thicket the better if you ask me.

Agreed thumbsup.gif

What backpack your using now?

nah

the only thing that would have moved me to Nikon
see the price i can buy 2 A7iii and a few lenses liao lmao

It seems everybody wants a piece of the big fat cake mirrorless sector by looking at their ridiculous pricings, this i gotta admit please look at canon m50, there is so much going for it and look at its price, peanuts compared to sony or nikon but of course, canon's rumoured FF mirrorless rollout is expected soon and i really wonder how much pricing they gonna put it sweat.gif

Comparatively the olympus PRO series lenses seem to be a better option hmm.gif

those 2 nikon lenses are good, if you can live with manual focus then you will be fine.

however in my opinion i would get the 12-60 kit lens.
why? because of the focal length.
m43 doubles all focal length and depth of field.
17-55mm = 34-110mm and 50mm =100mm in m43.

you effectively do not have a wide angle lens if your using back your nikon lens.
getting the kit lens will give you 24mm that is about 1.5mm wider than what you have now with APS-C using 17-55mm.

alternatively you could get a speedbooster that will make your 50mm f1.4 = 71mm f1.0 or the 17-55 f.28 = 24-78mm f2.0.

but still i would get the 12-60 kit lens for the AF, metering and most important of all size / weight.
also you would be amazed by the AF speed if ur coming from a d300.
*
A speed booster is an interesting proposition. I have been thinking about the speed booster for quite sometime edy. Metabones is definitely not my choice simply becoz of its ridiculous pricing however, some china-made alternatives might be.

As far as the 12-60 kit lens, that is a no-brainer, you will get dual IS with it too.

I'm gonna be excited if Panasonic does enter into FF.  In fact, there is no better time to enter.  Other brands are going in it with brand new mounts so no better time then to also join in FF.

Full frame video with V-Log profile.  Damn, that sounds good.  I really do hope its a Full Frame GH5 with dual IS!

I won't be selling my GH5.  It will have its purpose.  But then I'll be selling all my Canon FF DSLR gear.
*
I reckon it's a matter of time for Panasonic to enter into the realm of the FF. With the G9, I think they are already testing the waters to see how people react with the size, btw the G9 I believe is the largest size m4/3 from Panasonic to date if i am not mistaken. The G9 somewhat has all the bells and whistles of an FF already. FF Mirrorless King SONY saw this much much earlier than anybody else! notworthy.gif

Already some m43 lens getting ridiculously huge ( Oly PRO prime  sad.gif  ) and now all those FF mirrorless with huge lens  sweat.gif
*
While the FF is getting smaller in the form of FF mirrorless, including their lenses, the mirrorless is journeying into the FF territory Lol rclxub.gif

fear not, the prices of the new systems is still a deterrent for many people me included.  sad.gif

bro your letting go of all your gears and keeping the canon mirroless eh?
*
Yup, since I find less and less time with the GX8, might as well I let it go to somebody else's hands. However, I am still keeping my trusty pancake gem the 20/1.7 with the '"Adam" of Micro 4/3 the GF1! thumbup.gif

With the introduction of G9 it's quite clear where Panasonic is going, the G9 is sort of the "starter" to what is coming, FF is the ultimate goal.

Why I chose M50 is becoz its newer, it just ticks so many boxes for me. I was using my gx8 in my China trip in November 2017 but in the April 2018's Greece/Turkey trip I switched to M50 and I am not disappointed at all, the photos output is as spectacular as the videos. The videos in particular, though only 1080p is awesome. The IS is simply so damn good.

With all the awesome lenses and gears from Panasonic, I will sure one day be picking-up one of these monsters!

Calling out all friends, I am letting go my GX8 at RM1,800, SPECIAL only to any micro 4/3 members here.

Here's the link: GX8

Personally I think aps-c will be wiped by pano’s strategy.
If I’m someone who cari makan with photography, I will use FF in studio or when need to print those super big billboards. If client ask me to go into jungle or war zone to shoot, mft is my choice.
Aps-c is like alang alang on the quality, weight, size and price.
*
For Forums/FB's purposes and smaller prints even up to large prints for personal use at home MFT or APS-C is more than capable of handling.

Hi guys! Long time no drop by already. Seems everybody still healthy with m4/3 Lol thumbsup.gif

After selling off my gx8 I a grabbed the G7 (I have passed on my G6 to my son) and to my amazement the G7 is soooo nice to grip. Although its a 16mp body but i will be using it as a 2nd body. At the moment I am pairing this body with Canon Ef-S 10-18mm via Viltrox active (electronic) adapter and so far I am liking it.

I am getting exactly the same setup, expecting to receive them sometime next week! biggrin.gif I have pondered for quite sometime whether to get the 12-40 pro and finally made the jump. I might upgrade my EM5 mk 2 to EM1 mk 2 if EM5 mk2 doesn't work out for me. Yes I am going back to Olympus camp, scared of Panasonic's ever-increasing size laugh.gif

Food prices about the same as KL, though you may end up paying a but more as most tourists will only venture into nice looking restaurants. Accommodation slightly cheaper than KL. $25 will get nice room in less touristy area or a so-so room at prime areas.

What attractions did you visited? Any recommendation on food/eateries?

EM5 mk 2 grip is still as small as before so I got an extended grip for it.

the grip balance up the weight so much. i can't use it without the grip. its a must biggrin.gif
*
First time with EM5 I had to add the extended grip and Olympus didn't improve on this with mk 2 bangwall.gif confused.gif

Even with the extended grip added I still feel inadequate. Even the G7 has a better grip dry.gif I must find a way to increase the size of the extended grip to that of the G7/EM1 thumbsup.gif

miss the olympus IBIS eh?  brows.gif

Olympus IBIS even on the EM5 mk 2 is so good, better than the Canon M50 I have. I bet it's even better on the newer EM1 Mk 2.

Lens will significantly affect your photo result.
Personally I dont see too much difference between old and new sensor.

Better investment will be lens IMO  biggrin.gif
*
I agree that one should invest in a good lens. A good lens can withstand the test of time while a camera body will come and go. A good example is the Panasonic 20mm f1.7. I still have a copy with me. Keeping it for use once in a while and it never fails and always surprises me, no matter what camera body I used.
