Just joint patrols by police and army around transport hubs and the city. Nothing exactly groundbreaking about that.

Phase 2: multi-agency counter-terrorism exercise, SAF and Home Team agencies responded to a mock terrorist attack.

Special Operations Task Force (SOTF) was deployed to neutralise armed terrorists who had taken hostages in a cinema. Soldiers from Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosives (CBRE) Defence Group were also activated to neutralise the IED threats found.

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)'s Island Defence Task Force (IDTF) and the Home Team are out in force for Singapore’s largest counter-terror exercise.

As part of the IDTF, the 4th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (4 SIR), 5th Battalion (5 SIR) and 41st Battalion Singapore Armoured Regiment (41 SAR) were activated to support the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in carrying out nationwide security patrols.

Since this morning, teams have been out patrolling at over 360 locations over Singapore following reports of bomb attacks happening around the region. The patrols were around critical areas such as public transport nodes, commercial areas, residential heartlands and land checkpoints.

More than 3,200 personnel from the SPF, SAF and other agencies are taking part in the ongoing exercise.

I'm pretty sure it's all based on alertness and perceived terror threat ratings. You can't really maintain a high level of alertness 24/7/365. Now the authorities probably say lower rating so reduce patrols a bit la.

True, but think about it, you're not hunting container ships, you're hunting something that can very well kill you. The sub holds all the cards, it can sit there and hide in the vastness of the ocean and strike at any time and place of its own choosing, while the DDG have to activate and go and look for it. So I think logically, all ships are by default, are afraid of submarines, no matter how powerful they are.

hmm...reasonable also.

but that's assuming the sub know the travel route of the ship and the ship doesn, which will give the sub some advantage.

but if both are located at roughly 40miles between each other, and know of each other's last location, who would be at a disadvantage?

already finish watch the last ship season 3 ...
anti submarine is not DDG arleigh-burke primary role.
if 1 DDG arleigh-burke ship vs 1 astute class nucklear submarine ... 60% win rate belong to submarine.

Actually I think Stryker is the best thing that ever happened to them. It really set a new standard for motorised infantry and now most Western countries follow suit, even UK (which is highly controversial because they don't really have the money for it).

The thing is these troops would be using Humvees and lorries if they were not in Strykers. The US's Armour BCTs are relatively untouched and have the Abrams and Bradleys to the heavy combat work. Yet at the same time the Stryker BCTs have access to weapons on a common platform that they would not have if they were Humvees eg the 105mm gun.

Shinseki really deserves to have a vehicle named after him. But too bad he is a victim of politics.
