Yes very different and be very careful, don't even rely on a workshop knowing how evil it is to put common ATF in a CVT. CVTs can be ruined by using ATF ours need fluid that's labeled EZL799 or EZL799(a) without that marking on the container avoid using it. From what I've gathered unlike common automatic transmissions CVTs rely on friction between the pushbelt and the sheaves, so need an oil that provides added metal to metal friction, slippage here will damage the belt and sheaves. Word of mouth here is that the filter is good for two oil/fluid changes, so ignore it at the 50,000 km change.
Out of curiosity, where do you get Proton CVT fluid and filter? Or do you just use multi-vehicle CVT fluid?
I'm still waiting for it to begin appearing on shelves, and it's annoying that with so many CVTs about now that traders aren't stocking it, although I think one brand's fluid is now available, which doesn't help me as I'm not a fanboi of them (don't worry it's an Aussie company so you won't find it). A Proton dealer would be a good place to look but I fear the only one within a day's drive from me would stock that said maker's stuff, which is what they use for normal servicing and another reason Daisy has never been there. Last time I checked our oil companies web sites here for suggested fluids they were all indicating 7.9 litres of Dexron 3 was correct for a FLX, quite wrong of course and I wonder if they'll pay compensation for the damage caused. Our CVT is a punch VT2 and I imagine when the time comes for a new filter I'll be checking out what other cars use it and perhaps that'll help me to find one, something that's easy for you Malaysian owners with Proton being a fairly common brand, unlike ultra scarce here. As far as I've seen Daisy is the only FLX in town but there's also a BLM about. Quite a shame really as I read tales of woe often written about the *better* brands, while Daisy keeps reliably chugging along.
7.9l pf dexron 3, laughed my face off! I don't know any Proton that uses THAT much fluid and that type of fluid haha. But have you ever tried browsing the automotive garage sales or Malaysian sites for parts stockist that can post the stuff to your place?
Anyone experienced their rear drum brake making high pitch noise under braking when the brakes is cold? After I brake a few times it went away.
I tried to take to Proton SC they said it's just dirty and cleaned it for me. But it only goes away for few hours and then it came back again.
Same here! I did the rear brake cleaning too, and they found faulty brake pumps at the rear, but even after doing all that, the rear noise still appears after a cold or rainy day.
Hi to all the sifu, I am driving a 2013 Saga SV, plan to upgrade to iridium plug. i found bosch fusion iridium it looks like macam YES, but i heard this purely for Merc. Can someone guide me on this?
Rear drum brake making squeaking noise when brakes applied. Usually at low speed near to stop. My mechanic cleans the dust but after 2 hours later, it's back!
It's really annoying and does anyone manage to solve this issue? Been searching this thread for answer but only found others facing same problem with no fix to this.
So now every time I drive and near the traffic light, the Saga will be squeaking noise until complete stop. Sigh......
Can you update what you did recently on the drum brakes?
Do you remember how your drums look like? Are there scoring lines on the outer lips?
And what about the drum shoes? Are they still thick? Thick or not, I think you better try replacing the drum shoe with TRW or Bendix shoes, I mean I think that's better than paying your mechanic to do brake service only for it to make noise again. Should be ~RM100 alongside labour to replace the Saga drum shoes.
Brake pads are relatively new. But I guess it's the inner brake shoe that's causing it. Would try to give some suggestion to my mechanic on the next service to lub the side shoes.

And what about your drums? Do they have scoring lines like the video below? For the same amount of labour, I'd ask the mechanic to also install new shoes. They are probably like RM50-70ish.
Sorry, I haven't replaced my drum shoes yet, going to wait until they are worn. The squeals from my drums usually come after wet weather, so it's bearable.
Do we need to change clutch assembly together at 80000 km?
I am sure this isn't on the CVT periodic maintenance list. I don't think you need to change that, just change these: CVT oil, CVT filter and gasket (this one is optional).
I plan to replace my spark plug..when the workshop remove the ignition coil the rubber broken..now he telling me need to replace new ignition coil n need to open the engine to do it? By the way I never repair n the car is moving normal is it safe?
I'm almost certain that you can change both spark plugs and ignition coils without opening the engine. Have you asked another mechanic yet?
Hi guys, e throttle controller n e manage, which one suitable for CVT if I plan to get one of this to reduce the slow responce during pickup? Thx.
Well, can't recommend either one of them since I never used them but you could try visiting Zordaq workshops and ask them to modify your car's paddle response. Should be around RM50 to do it.
Really? I tot the slow response cause by the drive by wire tb n e throttle can make the tb open wider with light paddle but of coz I know it onli improve the paddle respond onli, the other will b the same since there are non modification on the engine. For E manage I'm not so understand, so nid some pro explain XD. Btw where is zordaq?
hi guys. wanna ask. wat is the colour of saga coolant again? my saga coolant kosong. totally kosong.
Proton's original coolant is green, but you can use red coolant like GEP long life coolant. Are you looking at the radiator cap or through the coolant reservoir? If the reservoir is low, you can add distilled water.
I guess I use signal light too often... The signal light module get spoilt after 5.5y.
Symptoms: 1.Signal light get intermittent stops when blinking (without lit up) 2. Only blink once when switched on after 2 days symptom 1. appear 3. Now it ain't blink anymore, only heard "clicking" one time when I switch on signal or hazard light
Anyone changed it before?
You mean one of the signal light stays on if you use it? I also had this issue once, it went away by itself. I didn't change the fuse or any light bulb, odd enough..
hi guy wanna know 80k major service need change which item ah?
I only remember engine oil, EO Filter, Timing Belt FEAD Belt, Power stearing + brake Oil, Air cond filter
What else?
Btw v belt = fead belt?
Is your car a Saga FLX? You're changing the belts a bit too early unless if the belt's 5-6 years old. If you do decide to change the belt, might as well change the waterpump, air filter and fuel filter.
And yeah, v-belt = FEAD Belt/Accessory belt/belting luar/Drivebelt/fan belt
