Just curious why everyone prefer/go for freehold?

Besides a selling point when you want to sell it.

think of the future only for children and grandchildren, at least there is a piece of land for them in future. leasehold they can pull back after 99 years when u not around.

last time, leasehold usually can get cheaper than freehold.

now leasehold and freehold are selling same price, consumer definitely prefer freehold, right?

its true from personal point of view... freehold can be a preferences... but do we know in the first place... how the government determine which area leasehold and which area are freehold? Is it the freehold lands area will get lesser attention from the government on their growth and the leasehold lands area are usually what government holding on hand and they will be more aware of the growth of that area?

Its my curiosity only... not bashing leasehold or freehold here... haha

yes, especially after read EM thread regarding the semi-finished backlane. Too much different between designer impression and reality. However, it is not fair to judge now because the backlane still in progress.

Considering Malaysia is only 59 yrs old.... a 99 years lease.... well even your children also wont be around anymore..

Oh and with the current land law malaysia has.... they weasel us out of "our" land anytime they like be it freehold or leasehold..

both also listed company, should be reliable.
agreed with you too, but both bsc and ew are quite near, just around 5-6km away.
if want grand design but don't mind about leasehold land i think EW suit the buyer taste.

because i feel BSC just too standalone at there... haha... here EW can get the spillover effect from MKH, worlwide, IJM and some smaller developers inside... and to consider commercial hotspot... if you are retail tenant... would you wanna rent a shop at BSC or prefer to rent a shop at puncak alam here considering in future... u will be surrounded by plenty of new residential projects... MKH, EW, LBS, Worldwide, IJM, Perfect eagle.... i think the prospect for commercial here is better...

You are correct but just that somehow to better play a safer part by getting a freehold property. Who knows Malaysia will suddenly turn into the next Hong Kong in future? (even though i know it would be a very long time for my saying to be true tongue.gif )

Well... if ALL things being equal... like 2 houses next to each other and 1 is freehold.. ofcourse I will go for the freehold. But being leasehold will not be the main barrier for me to buy into a property. I prefer to enjoy something while I'm still alive... those greatx5 grandchildren who dont even know me can look to their own parents for support tongue.gif

Ofcourse that's also cause I have very little faith in Msia.... I give it another 40 years or so... good enough for me to live out the rest of my life (worse case scenario, you know what Iran was like in the 1970s?)
