I'm also very curious...

Considering Malaysia is only 59 yrs old.... a 99 years lease.... well even your children also wont be around anymore..

Oh and with the current land law malaysia has.... they weasel us out of "our" land anytime they like be it freehold or leasehold..

You are correct but just that somehow to better play a safer part by getting a freehold property. Who knows Malaysia will suddenly turn into the next Hong Kong in future? (even though i know it would be a very long time for my saying to be true tongue.gif )

Well... if ALL things being equal... like 2 houses next to each other and 1 is freehold.. ofcourse I will go for the freehold. But being leasehold will not be the main barrier for me to buy into a property. I prefer to enjoy something while I'm still alive... those greatx5 grandchildren who dont even know me can look to their own parents for support tongue.gif

Ofcourse that's also cause I have very little faith in Msia.... I give it another 40 years or so... good enough for me to live out the rest of my life (worse case scenario, you know what Iran was like in the 1970s?)
