QUOTE(MeToo @ Sep 28 2016, 10:58 AM) Well... if ALL things being equal... like 2 houses next to each other and 1 is freehold.. ofcourse I will go for the freehold. But being leasehold will not be the main barrier for me to buy into a property. I prefer to enjoy something while I'm still alive... those greatx5 grandchildren who dont even know me can look to their own parents for support One of the concern for leasehold is financing, bank may not want to lend to those want to acquire leasehold properties that less than 50 years remaining lease. Most banks prefer 75 years and above left on the lease, even if one still get financing the margin normally lower than 90%.Ofcourse that's also cause I have very little faith in Msia.... I give it another 40 years or so... good enough for me to live out the rest of my life (worse case scenario, you know what Iran was like in the 1970s?) |

I am more worried abt short terms (10-15 years)....if LH property will appreciate as FH and can demand a good price to finance my retirement..... |

For leasehold properties the prime time is the first 25 years, I should sell it within this period instead of give it to my kid dun worry lah.....the only constant factor is change factor. banks will evolve, laws will evolve, people will evolve lah....
