Ha! Ha! You are the 2nd one to notice that. First was my wife. Kekekeke. I hit hard on the ceiling. My drill couldn't go through. Kakakaka... I need about 1.5inch deep. But that last one, only less than 1inch. So... I opted out lo. Still can hold. Actually 1 wall plug can hold my whole body weight but just want to make sure...

Hmmm... Feature wall ma. Nowadays all houses also got 1 feature wall. If not red then dark purple or dark green... or brown or something. So, don't you think it fits nicely with the white screen? Anyway, at night, when all the lights are off, you can't see anything.

Actually , the Projector can put as far as how long ?
*
You can put far far also can. But recommended by Panny is 20feet if not mistaken. The further you put, the more washed out you will get... thats all.

Oh... you want me stand there ah? Kekekeke... OK, tonight I take photo...

About screens, roll up not as good as fixed screen because for cinema like, you dowant wrinkles and uneven screen...
Oh, you can paint wall also. But for good effect, may be you want to buy special paint for this purpose one... expensive oh... its called Goo Paint.

hmmm anyhow check out this one ..

720p too <>RM5K "only" ..  tongue.gif   sorry lah .. i like DLP more than LCD tongue.gif
*
You are not comparing apple to apple. That projector has only got 1000 lumens, meaning you need full darken room to get the best picture.
It only got 8 bit color processing whereas this Panny got 10bit. Meaning less color processing. Lazy to get the actual number but its a lot of difference.

At least if you compare to HD72, then yeah... its ok to compare.
DLP or LCD, its all up to individuals. But since you mentioned it here, I can always condemn DLPs
1) Lense Shifting is reall pain in the a**
2) Zoom usually very low, 1.2x? Whereas Panny got 2.0x.
3) Rainbow effect? This only happens to DLP
4) Screen door effect? Usually this happens to LCD but this Panny eliminated it. So, you get a smooth screen even at 1 foot away from the screen.

You have the will, then u will get it. Nothing is impossible.
One thing, we always spend on small small things... new gadget handphone, MP3, PDA, camera, PS3 when it first launched then sell then buy... then sell, then buy. In this way, we lost a lot of money... bit by bit... few hundred here, few hundred there. Buy this t shirt, that t shirt, that expensive nike shoes...

Know what I mean? Yeah... I saved for it. and its worth every sen I spent on it.

Like what htkaki says, the only worry is the bulb.... Definitely.

Lets say the bulb gonna blow at 3000 hours if I use Econ mode all the way... And 1 day I watch average 4 hours... I have 750 days. Thats about 2 years. Heck, by then, I should get new model. Kekekekeke...

It's cool to have an aquarium this way, very neat and space saving so will changing water for your fishes a hassle? I might wanna do that for my home in the future because my aquariums are talking a lot of space.  sweat.gif

By the way, if you output the video in 1080i, will your projector be able to handle it? Will it flicker more in 1080i. I tried using 1080i on my Bravia, the text has a little ghosting, tried this from my Sony 76H and my XBOX 360. So, now, using 720P. If there's 1080P to try, I would like to try but I guess I'll need to change to Bravia X if I wanted to.  doh.gif
*
Changing water? Thats really troublesome. But any aquarium, for me, changing water is troublesome. tongue.gif

I didn't really test much on the 1080i coz when start already feel not so nice.

My projector can take 720p or 1080i. But not 1080p.

I am playing at 720p. My projector is capable of doing 720p/1080i and I am using a HDMI player, therefore, it is upscaled to 720p.

DVD player only using Sony NS76H... I am too lazy to hook up my comp. I wanted to but lazy. If I want, I can just go Pasar Road, get a 5m VGA cable or I can get a DVI/HDMI convertor, plug into my computer and play. My streamyx is really slow. Downloading takes too long. Why? I donno...

yeah...black background is good....i use a really large black curtain stretched behind my pull-down draper screen to have that higher 'contrast' look...

with a black background and very low light, your screen will look like it's floating...damn impressive...

PJ is really a good deal if you can control your lighting ambience...heck i'm using a dell 2200mp (2000:1 contrast ratio) for nearly 3 years already and i'm still having fun with it.

Of course the contrast / colour will look a bit funny if u compare it to the newer DLPs - but hey, for the amount of money i paid those days when projector were still new i Msia...i think i made the right investment...

remember those days - even a Sanyo Z1 costs nearly RM7K....and i bought the Dell which i think is quite good - for only RM4K. And Dell is really really generous with cables i tell ya. And don't talk about the prices of plasma those days....

if anybody wanna start cheap with a projector...just get the current budget Dell for RM2K only, or those cheap Optomas...then once u have more $$$ upgrade...for casual DVD viewing, a cheap good SVGA projector is ok lah for starters...but of course the pic quality wont be on par with those HD 720p DLP...but it's better than none.

i dunno if cheap data LCD could give good video quality...but i think DLP will provide u a relatively better video quality for budget projecots

now...i guess one could get a really low budget simple HT projector set with this

projector 2500
HT setup 1000
screen 300 (DIY cheaper...)
misc (curtains etc) 1000
Total = +- RM5000 only...hehe...

cool huh?

But if you have loads of money - of course buy the proper HT ones lah which has 16:9 panels....i'm poor, so that's why i'm calculative...hehe

cheers!

Added on January 31, 2007, 3:17 pm
bulbs for normal HT projector will always be > RM1500...or is it higher?

that's why i chose the Dell...the bulb is only about RM600+...a lot lot lesser than the normal price of other models...But havent check the latest price.

not that Dell is that good...but for those who are on a budget...you'd see its benefits...

if u guys dont have the dough...just go and shop around all those cheaper projectors out there and do lotsa demo demo demo...

i think one fine day when i have loads of money...i'll get a proper 1080p projector...hehe...one fine day lah, when hd dvd titles are darn cheap too....we can always dream, can't we?
*
Have you heard this before? "Poor man pays twice"? Well, I just learnt this phrase and am sticking with it. (Actually, I am using this tactic to get my colleague to buy Nikon D80 tongue.gif)

Anyway, getting a projector with not even wide screen and 640 x 480, door effects, and etc... might as well just bring back your office multimedia projector every night and use it to watch your DVDs on the wall. Don't even need to spend money on screen.

If no money today, save it and don't buy it now. Most people who want to venture into projector is because want to experience the cinema effect at home...

Why we want to save 1-2k on the projector and regret later... ? Don't buy that N95 but instead, get a 3300 handphone tongue.gif. Or like what dirtrun says, everyday, put few ringgit into the piggy bank, by 1 year, you will get 1-2k to top up and get a good home projector.

The feeling is 100% difference. I bought back my office Hitachi multimedia projector and also my wife's office Sony pj to test... you can never experience the same feeling I am having right now.

Something like you tfk and real *tuutt*... yeah... both also come out but ... heck... u know what I mean la.

Anyway... it depends on your needs. If you just want to watch a movie for the sake of knowing the story... get a CRT, subscribe to Astro Movie channeles. This way is the cheapest.
