ok, if these are the true results, i am v disappointed but satisfied.

the features i am looking for are not there at all - no auto framerate switching, no hd audio, incompatible with libreelec.

rm5xx is big no-no for me... becos my 8 yr old box can do hd audio; rm250 box can do the same dts/dd/dd+.

maybe great for gamers and dunno who else...

this GT1-A is an interesting box although using the older s912 and android7.1.

an upgrade of GT1, the reviews say it can do Netflix HD/4K.

1 review say it can pass thru dtshdma/ddtruehd (but not dtsx/ddatmos), another says only dd/dts...?

any chance u chance u can test to confirm this?

If my understanding is correct, this box is the older hardware based on gt1 but added Widevine L1 certification at factory.

The most funny part is both the GT1-A and the GT king are Widevine L1 and rooted, but one can play netflix 4k and one cannot. The difference is one is Android TV and another is not ( Netflix has different binaries on ATV and phone ) ?

The audio passthrough whatever you could find for GT1 should be applicable for GT1-A.

If you watch the review you noticed that what is running on the box is the ATV version of Netflix, the app logo with Red words netflix in white background and it is easy to navigate using remote. So this is true ATV netflix.

In summary the review person is kind of sceptical that this has gotten full netflix certification ....and so it might break in the future ......

gt1 is >2 years old; gt1-a came out recently.

i did check gt1 but no... all reviews say cannot do lossless audio.

which is why i find this upgraded gt1-a interesting... but will need a user to confirm it.

probably wait a bit, more reviews about this aspect will surface.

this one is newer... S905x2 chipset, Android8.1.

will be a better buy than gt1-A overall... assuming u want netflix HD and L1 doesn't break later.

I am browsing through all Beelink products, seems they have no box which has an external antenna. Bummer ! I don't trust boxes without external antenna. If ones were to check beelink website, they got loads of complaints poor wifi performance.

The freaktab web site ROM creator said the L1 is not broken and he created the two versions of ROM for GTmini-A, which can run either ATV or normal.

yes, w/o ext antenna, it is much weaker... more so with 2.4ghz.

with ext antenna, it is ok... 5ghz is even better.

Anyone using this?

Only "problem" is it is already rooted. None techie will be nervous about removing the root.

Two choices of ROM, ATV from Beelink, and standard android from freaktab.

All the above are not real problem. Real problem is WiFi is expected to be bad, terribly bad.

u shud read up on GT1-A too.

although the chipset is older s912 and android 7.1, it has been well received.

partly becos it is regular android and not androidtv.

androidtv os can be a bit troublesome - not as versatile, does not allow certain apps to install, esp some "ahem" apps like those u mention.

if u hv used both, u understand what i mean...

I do read up on GT1-A, and based on the review, GT1-A do run Andriod TV which same as GTmini-A.
The reason picking Andriodtv is because for the HD/4k netflix.

Therefore GT1-A was running on the same OS then only i considering the more newer and power GTmini-A.
But the only dragging point for me is that i scare it wont allow to install those drama watching apps like those in market. @@

Ouchhh, wouldnt know that the wifi issue is the killing part.
