Beelink GT1-King is impressive from the tech specs on paper.

first box to use AmlogicS922X Quad-core ARM Cortex-A73.

android 9, 4+64gb, gigabit ethernet, 2.4/5.8ghz, 2xusb3.0, 4k/75hz, HDR10+/HLG, hdmi 2.1, bluetooth 4.2, voice search, root selector...

"the option of automatic refresh change invideo playback" - i think it means auto frame switching.

audio - nothing mentioned, except "Digital audio via HDM".

no mention of drm widevine level.

anyone who gets his hands on one of them, please post some review here!

there should be many interested buyers if the stated features work well and not too pricey.

looking forward to yr full review!

i am especially interested to know if it can pass through dtshdma/ddtruehd/atmos/dtsx.

not expecting it to do, but hope it does! biggrin.gif

RM500+ on a online store, price too steep. Let's wait for more manufacturers to jump in and drop the price.
*
that is a little pricey.

then again, it 4+64, 2Xusb3, voice search, airmouse function...

need to read more reviews.

There is a brief mention here :-

https://androidpctv.com/review-beelink-gt-king/

I am not knowledgeable enough to know if it really answer those questions you raised.
*
thanks for link.

ok, if these are the true results, i am v disappointed but satisfied.

the features i am looking for are not there at all - no auto framerate switching, no hd audio, incompatible with libreelec.

rm5xx is big no-no for me... becos my 8 yr old box can do hd audio; rm250 box can do the same dts/dd/dd+. tongue.gif

maybe great for gamers and dunno who else... shakehead.gif

In case anyone is interested

Beelink GT1-A

I think stock finished up already.. LOL
*
this GT1-A is an interesting box although using the older s912 and android7.1.

an upgrade of GT1, the reviews say it can do Netflix HD/4K.

1 review say it can pass thru dtshdma/ddtruehd (but not dtsx/ddatmos), another says only dd/dts...?

any chance u chance u can test to confirm this?

If my understanding is correct, this box is the older hardware based on gt1 but added Widevine L1 certification at factory.

The most funny part is both the GT1-A and the GT king are Widevine L1 and rooted, but one can play netflix 4k and one cannot. The difference is one is Android TV and another is not ( Netflix has different binaries on ATV and phone ) ?

The audio passthrough whatever you could find for GT1 should be applicable for GT1-A.
*
gt1 is >2 years old; gt1-a came out recently.

i did check gt1 but no... all reviews say cannot do lossless audio.

which is why i find this upgraded gt1-a interesting... but will need a user to confirm it.

probably wait a bit, more reviews about this aspect will surface.

right after GT1-A, out comes GTmini-A! biggrin.gif

this one is newer... S905x2 chipset, Android8.1.

will be a better buy than gt1-A overall... assuming u want netflix HD and L1 doesn't break later.

will see coming what coming reviews say about lossless audio...

I am browsing through all Beelink products, seems they have no box which has an external antenna. Bummer ! I don't trust boxes without external antenna. If ones were to check beelink website, they got loads of complaints poor wifi performance.  doh.gif
*
yes, w/o ext antenna, it is much weaker... more so with 2.4ghz.

with ext antenna, it is ok... 5ghz is even better.

Anyone using this?

I think this might be the best one current on the market due to the best value.

Can we install apk like HK,US drama movies on this box?
*
u shud read up on GT1-A too.

although the chipset is older s912 and android 7.1, it has been well received.

partly becos it is regular android and not androidtv.

androidtv os can be a bit troublesome - not as versatile, does not allow certain apps to install, esp some "ahem" apps like those u mention.

if u hv used both, u understand what i mean...

I do read up on GT1-A, and based on the review, GT1-A do run Andriod TV which same as GTmini-A.
The reason picking Andriodtv is because for the HD/4k netflix.

Therefore GT1-A was running on the same OS then only i considering the more newer and power GTmini-A.
But the only dragging point for me is that i scare it wont allow to install those drama watching apps like those in market. @@
*
when it comes to beelink, it can get confusing... so many models, variations, some sellers change ROM, what else...

i am no longer sure which one is which! biggrin.gif

just today, i read gt1-a CANNOT do astrogo.
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4405774/+300

about ahem apps, in general... my experience, ATV is restrictive, regular android better.
i can easily recall a few apps that are like that.
but some boxes appear to come with DUAL modes... how good, no idea.

perhaps for this reason, it makes more sense to get a more established brand model that will do what u really want but cost more.
ATV, widevine L1 - if it is not genuinely certified, there is always a risk it will fail one day.

I feedback all this to them and they promised improvements.. Then regarding Netflix compatibility, the upcoming GT1-Mini 2...Same like the GT-King. While they both have Widevine L1 level permissions and HDCP 2.2 keys, still can't support Netflix 4K out of the box. I suspect the usual..non-ATV OS, etc.. Also the GT1 mini-A will be upgraded with the Amlogic S905X3 SoC as well. The "GT1 Mini-A2" should ship with ATV OS (They did also mention that their ATV OS system does support Netflix up to 4K,) and can support Netflix 4K. No word on dates yet.

i am drowned by beelink's many models and continuous upgrades... biggrin.gif

is there ONE beelink box that can do astrogo AND pass thru dtshdma/ddtruehd?

not even asking ddatmos/dtsx!!

Bruh... The rapid models changes bests me too.. Heck, even the just recently released GT-KING has had a hardware refresh  doh.gif.. So now, there are 2 versions of this same "GT-KING". One with an S/N code starting with B922 and the other "922X".. Unfortunately or fortunately, however one may read it. It appears, it isn't entirely Beelink's fault. As it's AMLOGIC that began shipping out processors of new revision B. This is faster as the cores frequency improves from 1.8 to 2.2. Problem now is the device tree is different and as such, some who flashed custom ROMs on the revised hardware are facing bootloops, as the ROMs were made for the initial hardware.. Issh..

I can't speak for all Beelink devices as yet. But I do know that core DTS and DD can be gotten from those both formats. And yeah, Astrogo does work on the GT-King.
*
core dts/dd is very common now... even rm120 box has it!

really, been looking high and low... so few of then can do hd audio smoothly.

and are rm500 and above... just can't find any in the rm300 range!!

i dun mind paying rm600 for himedia or minix but no new models, disappointingly... will buy only android8 or 9.

about astrogo... the new version may be tricky... already some grouses, may be more troublesome than old v8.2.6.

we'll know more when they shut down old version and force all to new.

yes, I noticed.
Likely change of heart... Audio lag...
And jerky video on ATV.

Last I checked mine.. It was okay... Smooth playback and no lag.. Rapid ramp to HD.. But this was last week Thursday or so. Unless they've made changes by now.. Will check again later tonight..
*
QUOTE(puchongite @ Jul 14 2019, 02:14 PM)
I think this is device dependent.
These applications depend native libraries for video play back, if these platforms do not have a suitable codec it might suffer.
*
checked again.... it's audio LEAD, not lag!
i.e. the audio comes out a tad faster than the lips.
it does not occur in all channels, only some - like celestial HD, AEC.

current new version sucks on ATV, unwatchable.
hope they fix it before they remove v8.2.6.
if not, ATV device users will be screaming...

The current problem I faced is still 'difficulty to login' at the login page. I don't have problem once managed to login. I saw a similar complaint on the play store. But I have never have problem on my phone, it is really easy to login. I am checking if they purposely cripple the login page by detecting device screen dimensions .... brows.gif

yep, it happens on certain devices.

i had one device like that, took a couple of tries to get in.

no full review from anyone yet; not sure of diff with GT King except the audio certification... and spdif replaced by rs232 (but why??).

And we have in stores a new advanced version of the Smart Box Beelink GT-King from which you can read our complete REVIEW. This new box comes under the name of Beelink GT-King Pro and stands out for its new blue metal box with a front LED display, although the main novelty is inside since now we have the powerful SoC Octa Core Amlogic S922X-H that includes Dolby DTS certifications. We also see that at the connector level there is some change with the incorporation of an RS-2323 port, the elimination of the SPDIF audio output although the rest of the specifications remain with respect to the original.

useful info... for audio enthusiasts:

QUOTE
As I understand it, DTS and Dolby licenses are only needed if the system processes the audio stream, for instance, if downmixing a DTS-HD or Dolby-HD audio stream to stereo. But if you intend to use HDMI pass-through, the licenses are not needed since audio processing will be handled by your A/V receiver for which you’ve already paid such licenses. If you miss those licenses and try to watch a video with Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master or other higher-end codecs, many apps will not output audio at all. Kodi can manage without licenses because they implement the code to do so, and apparently does not check for the license(s). Note that Dolby AC3  patent expired in 2017 so you should not need any license to play videos with that 5.1 channel audio codec.
