Obviously freehold is nice to have but other factors like affordability, neighbourhood/environment and location are more important. As the price of homes become increasingly expensive, the determining factor of whether a property is worth buying may no longer weigh solely on its LH vs FH tenure status. This may be especially true for first-time homebuyers, where affordability is the first hurdle to tackle when buying a home. Given the demand for freehold properties, the supply may be limited and could even reach a point in time when buyers may not have much of a choice. By then, the factor of freehold or leasehold could even be rendered meaningless. To put it simply, of course, it is better to buy freehold over leasehold properties (given that all other factors of locations, price, type, size etc.) but it is not the only or most important factor nowadays. In the end, it depends on individual buyers on whether it is worth compromising on freehold status for other factors like affordability ,environment and location. Besides that, residents of Selangor will be able to renew land leases under the Private Residential Ownership Scheme at an affordable token premium of just RM1,000, instead of the current market rate, provided they remain on the property. For folks that plan to remain in the property in a long term or pass on to their kids. It is a non-issue.  Well said. All things being equal of course FH would trump LH, but all things are never equal ... I'm sure these million dollar house buyers have their own consideration and requirements and does not need us Forum Heroes to dictate to them which they should choose.

Those who dont like LH, pls dont buy Canal City.
Especially the Tropicana/Eco land.. the lease started in 2011... u buy now... u better get it in B&W that they will renew/refresh the lease for you prior to handover otherwise you will be losing 10 yrs.
Go buy your fav FH..
