Hi guys. Total noob on android here. Just got my rn3 from terabyte. My miui is 7.4.9(LHOCNDD). I don't get any ota update. Do I need to unlock the bootloader before try updating to miui 8 manually?

no need unlock whatsoever, just download the rom file and update it... you can find the rom file few pages back

Using Redmi note 3 SD. Have anyone encounter issue where caller photo is not showing for outgoing and incoming call? Any workaround?


PS: running miui 7 latest stable version.

Should say is Global Stable Beta which overall is almost bug free except the user is found out new bug, if this version is no issues then they will release the next version as the official Global Stable
But ofc redmi note 3 now working on marshmallow MIUI 8, so unnecessary updated to this version since the next version will definitely is marshmallow, this version most likely is the final testing of those features

Thanks for the clarification.
If I update to this Nightly build manually (download ROM and use Updater app), will I be able to receive OTA stable build update later when it's made available?

MM MIUI is still in the work, maybe until next year only release

Its a stable rom to me. None of my phone info state that its beta. Definitely all rom have bug. Even window 10 also will have bug.
