QUOTE(travis_ckf @ Jan 24 2007, 06:45 PM) OIC... thanks for explain it... does that mean when the transision complete, no more CBU from Japan liao? then the price shall be cheaper rite? or we will have 2 type of swifts to choose from --- (CKD-cheaper, CBU-more expansive) ? |

I'd go for the Swift.
I've seen it, been in it, never drove it, but it was nice. There is a suggestion though, why not you let a mechanic fix it(not Perodua SC). Finding a good one isn't going to be easy though. But at least you won't lose almost 10k when buying a new car. Just a suggestion, if you wanna buy 1 of the 2 cars, go ahead. |

if you lose only RM7000, then sell the thing and buy another car.....loose RM7000 can solve all your headaches i think it's damn worth it!!!
take the swift, and if you've got extra cash, wait for the swift sports!!! |

myvi is a good car... sparepart easy to get... cheap.. and so on...
edit: local made tend to give u headache...sighh suzuki and 206cc??? the 206cc cabriolet coupe.. hhmmm do u need the sun to tanned u more?? and ruin the beautiful face u have?...yes u can have the "glam" feeling with a topdown car... but.. this is malaysia.. either it is HOT.. or it RAINS... suzuki?? hhmmm a good car i assume.. but... think about maintainence... and resell value... yup swift is damn nice car... handling good.. power good.. and have the urban chick feeling (if u r a girl driving it).... but please look in the weekly motortrader to assume the resale value...u dont see much of suzuki product/car models here in malaysia... edit more: heheheh i just realize u r a girl... no wonder many attention.. its funny how that the prob car at hand now is a myvi, n i can see that almost everybody is advising her 2 keep that car eventhough its problematic.. if she were 2 have....... say a problematic gen2 or a waja 4 example, im very very sure n certain that everybody will advise her 2 dump that proton eventhough she'll lose a whole load of cash.. funny isnt it??
anyway, back 2 question at hand.. id say given the 2 choices, go 4 the swift.. its better in every single aspect.. the only thing i could find good bout the peugeot is that it has a folding hard top.. that too isnt quite an advantage, as someone had pointed b4, this is malaysia.. not the french riviera.. err.....IMHO....both cars are considered "cool doors" car....meaning resell value is low.
I dun see much of these on the road meaning difficult to get parts from chop shop. getting new parts might cost you a lot compared to myvi now. but if you force me to choose.....i'd go with swift....looks nice |

Thanks for forumers who giving me opinions!!!!!
I really take all of your opinions in consideration~ and now,206cc is definitely out...as the concern of sparepart ,maintenance ,and the most important,Leakage from the roof? ha ha......that's the most concern~ Actually i put up 206cc as my bf likes it...... and i just like its cool outlook~ Personally I like swift~ i went to showroom and test drive~ It gives me a really good intention to get it~ However, loaning part,it gives me difficulties.~ Low possibility will get through as i still loaning for my current myvi~ SA said it is hard to get this swift loan approve~ Since I can't really provide all those necessary documentations For myvi~ my problem is water leakage~ at the driver seats....I've claimed for a new carpet, but problem is the sign of leakage still exist~ and my car becomes smelly~ Setting 2 ambipur in my car...still that disgusting smell ....urggg Second....inspected disc brake has problem....been ordered for 3 months arleady, still not arrived yet~ Braking system~ somehow when i am driving it...i will always wonder,is that my driving skills problem or else? it just difficult for me to brake...which i have to brake from a very far distance...or else, i need to brake emergency~ Until, others been driving my car, tested with their myvi....it seems that mine is working abnormal~ When chaging gear R - D and vice versa....it has duno what sound!!! that hasn't been inspected yet!!! Gosh, how many days i need to spend in SC???? I just sick of bring it to SC then i will have no car to use! Last time i claimed for my carpet...it spent up 4 days doing it! End up,i didn't have car to drive~ So now you guys understand my situation uh~? |

The best, as I mention before is to join a car club (preferably the car that you want to buy) and get to know the car from these people first. That's how you do research, talk to people who owns the car not those who doesn't. Personally, I feel that a lot of people here have a lot to say about cars but all they've driven is a Proton or a Perodua. They practically know nuts about a Suzuki or a Peugeot and 'stories' and 'myths' circulate among these people to others who plan to buy a car.
Also, unless you're earning 3K above with epf, etc. I sincerely doubt any bank will offer you a loan for the Suzuki Swift... unless you buy it under your parents name or someone else. As far as I know, the 0% interest for the 1st 2 years is absorb by Lion's Group or something. This post has been edited by azxel: Jan 26 2007, 08:54 AM |

hi trojan, i really suggest you try another SC
if one SC can't get the job done, there's no point trying over and over again. for water leak, changing the carpet won't fix it problem, i believe there is a plug somewhere at the firewall, see if it has drop off. as for the brakes, does your myvi comes with ABS. check the pedal free play and fluid level |

for the water leaking problem, go to any workshop and then can fix for u. apply some silicon, change rubber.. it won't cost u much. unless there is a hole in the car.
problem with the brake and gear, let other mechanics check it. ask them how much it cost to fix them. if it's ridiculously expensive, then take back to SC. and as suggest, another SC would be better since the 1 u been visiting can't fix any of your problem. |

If you are from some rich family, yeah.. getting a brand new car would solve all the hassle and swift would be the best option (from ur list). I would get a Mazda 3 if i were you
HOWEVER, if you are someone like me which would be depending on ur monthly wages to pay for petrol / instalment, I would suggest u to think twice before commiting to a new car. An average fresh graduate would find it difficult to service loan / petrol for a kancil (from my own experience). I am into my 5th year of working life, I find Swift beyond reach and I suppose that applies to many others. Kancil, Myvi.. Swift, Vios.. they are made for the same purpose... only cars |
