Alternatively, you can use the front camera as a mirror, you can see yourself on the screen, you can treat it as a portable electronic mirror and comb your hair so that you'll look more leng chai while waiting for your girl girl to reach the cinema. rclxms.gif

Yeah, agreed. It's the same for mine. So I guess Alienfighter's problem is only down to two, the battery and the call timer. sweat.gif

Err why you wanna do that for? The screen is bright enough to be a temporary torch light when there's a blackout. I did it once when there was a power failure, I used the screen as a temporary torchlight, sounds crazy but it worked for me.

Yeah, 100% brightness. Not only USB my friend, everytime I switch on my K800i, the volume will reset to factory default. That's not a bug and it can't be fixed unless for future firmware, we won't know.

QUOTE(jojoko1982 @ Jan 20 2007, 07:34 PM)
haha.. u set the brightness to 100% izit?
i onli set 60%.. tongue.gif

another question.. everytime after i connect the phone through USB.. the phone volume will reset.. damm fedup to increase it everytime...
anyway to solve tis?

This one is very subjective but if indeed it spoilt the phone, quickly uninstall the software and pretended nothing happened, take it back to the service centre lor. Hahaha. I know it's not right but if you wanna admit your mistake, you can lah but be prepared to void your warranty. sweat.gif

QUOTE(jimmy_none @ Jan 20 2007, 07:46 PM)
by installing the torch software into the phone..if it damage the phone, the warranty will become void?  So far did anyone encounter this problem using it as a torch?

You mean the speaker is soft, ar? If yes, I have to agree lah, my K618i or even K610i is even louder, not only for music but Java games too. Very weird why K800i's speaker is softer. The screen is what I like best, it's bright and clear.

QUOTE(claxxion @ Jan 20 2007, 10:19 PM)
Thanks guys.. Yeah im going to send it to a SESC tomorrow..
Well, its a midland set. So i guess its not a recond set. Maybe just got a faulty phone after all.. cry.gif And i was not bashing SE, i am a big fan of their phones! icon_rolleyes.gif

Compared with my w550i, the music playback volume is kind of soft. Maybe coz its not a walkman. But no doubt the ringtones are much louder.. That's more important to me. laugh.gif

That's weird, by right it shouldn't come off that easily, do you suspect something fishy with your battery? I mean the serial numbers should be permanent, waterproof or maybe weatherproof to a certain extend, definitely not printed with a Canon bubblejet. Sigh....... Don't tell me Midland sets are given an AP battery, then AP sets are given a fake battery. I hope not.

QUOTE(Bigfoot-X @ Jan 21 2007, 02:05 AM)
Previously I stated in one of my previous posts that I've never seen anyone else using the K800i before and that there were at least 3 people using the N73 at my workplace.

Today, while waiting to get a seat at Chilli's at 1U, I saw 2 other people with the phone. Not such a rare sight as I previously thought!

sunauto - back to your question about why the serial number was coming off. I have no idea, I just noticed it while looking at the battery earlier, that some of it had come off/faded. I tried scraping it off with my finger nail and it came off easily!

we lucky lor.. at least our ap set is really ap.. no fake stuff  hahah... hmm GBS and  ACE ok suppliers i guess
*
Hahaha, don't be so quick to say that, there are many AP sets with fake batteries too especially for unsuspecting buyers. Trust me, anything can happen in Bolehland.

QUOTE(Bigfoot-X @ Jan 21 2007, 03:28 AM)
Possibly - but then again I don't really open the back cover that often either as I don't have a 2nd SIM card to change to.

Maybe its really nothing to be to worked up over. My previous phone was an AP Nokia. The battery is still fine and I've had the phone for about 4 years now. Never got a replacement battery for it. It's still using the same battery I got it with!

Then again, who knows what might happen with this one. Will update here if anything happens sweat.gif
*
Honestly, my P900i's BST-15 battery is a few years old and I do open the back cover once in a while to swap my sim card but the wordings are all intact. I'm puzzled why you're serial numbers are coming off. sweat.gif

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jan 21 2007, 04:31 AM)
my volume is fine.
you are talking about call volume right?
well mine was fine on the original firmware R1CB001, and i upgraded straight to R1ED001 and its still fine.

i just tried it turning on-off 4-5 times at different volume levels.
each time it was on the volume i left it before i turned off.
4 balls, 5 balls, 3 balls, full.
btw, the battery issue with clareen.
just like i suspected about the SE service centers, they just look at the midland sticker and not at the design of the battery.
so you can really put a midland sticker on a pasar malam battery and they'll still say its original.
*
The volume thingy is a mystery, nobody can answer that. As for the battery issue, there's a shop across the place where Clareen got all her ori handphones selling pirate batteries with Midland sticker. Got this info from a reliable source but no names here because I promised to keep the forumer's identity as a secret. I remember seeing fake batteries with Zitron, Midland, Avaxx hologram stickers in a box with the original wordings on it (very cheap looking) but if you wanna ask me to buy them and post the pictures here, I guess it's not necessary, it's for the seller to find out, not me. I've wasted a lot of time showing the pictures but it seems like the battery issue is taken lightly. It's okay lah, if they think it's not a big issue then next time I better buy a handphone from a trustworthy seller who won't mind explaining if I have any doubts. Just my 2 cents.

next time when u are going to buy any phones, just ask how's the after sales service 1st. very important. not only the warranty.
*
Ask also no point lah, before you buy the phone, he or she will promise you the sun, the moon, when the deal turns out to be otherwise, you'll get to see the person's true colours. sweat.gif

QUOTE(limyusiong @ Jan 21 2007, 12:02 PM)
wah lik tat as a consumer, we are very dangerous, coz even wif zitron, avaxx, o midland o thorus sticker, oso cant confirm tat is original o nt....ai....y tis world become like tis????wat de moral n ethical as a business man???
*
You can confirm it by cutting open the battery and checking the battery cell inside but do you wanna do that? Fake products are getting better now, those precier fake products even come with original lookalike packing so if you wanna be safe, go to an authorised dealer but don't expect LYN prices, if you pay the full suggested retail price, you're assured of the genuine thing.

QUOTE(alienfighter @ Jan 21 2007, 12:20 PM)
hai mehh??... really u know that things happen for real??
u really can be a got investigator man...
with a lot of guy like u, we are not afraid if someone try to run away or cheat us.. cuz u make investigation first...
bravo man....
*
Well, that's what I do and yeah, it will be fun if I can get my hands on a fake battery with a Midland sticker. I'm planning to take it to the SESC and if they say that it's real by looking at the sticker, I'll be ROFL because I believe they ain't that good in sniffing out fake products. I'm just trying to proof that SESC is not the place to ask for such things. My friend said he will get me one fake battery with a Midland sticker.

QUOTE(melvynlyc @ Jan 21 2007, 04:38 PM)
If u expect the phone to have all the things like W series nice sound and K series good camera, then Sony Ericsson can earn a lot less already. Don't expect a perfect phone that have both W and K series's advantage.
*
If you have both W & K series' advantage, you can get Nokia N73 Music Edition. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Andrewhajime @ Jan 21 2007, 05:16 PM)
how to check for IMEI number ?
if i bought k800i AP
can i go to SE to update my firmware ?
*
You can update it yourself by downloading the update service software via the SE website and just use the USB cable. Completely free and DIY. thumbup.gif I've did that for my two AP phones.

I haven't bought anything from G-CooL^_^ and Fruitie before but my honest impression on them will be, they're both friendly and responsive, willing to answer any questions thrown to them without any hesitation. They answered all questions confidently and I have to say, I'm impressed. thumbup.gif Don't take my word for it, do contact them.

dont wan to regret later

Nope the software will auto detect the phone, not the phone will detect the firmware so you have nothing to worry, I did mention that I have two AP sets, right? I have flashed them successfully, it's better than paying RM50 to get it flashed outside. doh.gif

Not no one can answer your question lah but such questions have been answered many times here, just refer them here. I don't think this is the first time you're buying a handphone, right? M2 2GB is not out yet but it should be around RM500 (including shipping but excluding any import duties charged by our customs), you can order it online, overseas of course. tongue.gif

Should be around RM50. Well, just call their customer service and ask. It's free after all. icon_idea.gif

Well, HPM-70 sounds better but not to say that it will blow you away because my friend borrowed me his Seinnheiser CX300 earphones, it's good stuff and a good match for K800i. Of course, good price too. doh.gif The good news, there's a bulk sale for it here so I've been included in the list. sweat.gif

a little question here, does the joystick of the phone become insensitive after a few months of usage? i mean just normal navigation, no hardcore gaming stuff...interest in getting one but scared of the joystick...
*
Should be okay gua, my friend used for 6 months already, the joystick still okay and we occassionally play the Java tennis game (via bluetooth) together with the joystick. We have a Midland set, why worry, it rosak, claim from them lah. It's FOC. Sadly, the joystick is quite reliable so we shouldn't worry about that.

FYI,

I have received a reply from Sony Ericsson Malaysia regarding the battery dispute, BST-33 (Midland) that we have bought from Clareen. I have created another thread here, http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=402206&hl= so please view it from there.

Well, at the moment, it's either fake or AP ori battery because the battery that came with our sets were not official batteries distributed by Sony Ericsson Malaysia. I have sent at least 10 pictures for them to check. sweat.gif

I've wasted so much time on that until now, I haven't finished my work yet. I guess I have to stay back today to finish up my work. cry.gif

Well, one step at a time my friend. If you wanna buy, better get it from an authorized Sony Ericsson dealer and as long as the battery looks like this (as below), I think you're safe because that's the official Midland battery in Malaysia.

There are a few in 1-Utama, MidValley. Authorised dealers only sell Sony Ericsson handphones and no other brands so you won't miss such places, you get what you pay for but it won't be like LYN prices though. sweat.gif

QUOTE(jimmy_none @ Jan 22 2007, 08:10 PM)
i think they are more expensive....is already off my budget..anyway hope your(sunauto) issue settle by this friday
