Actually if TS got 4A's for A Levels I wouldn't discourage you from applying to UM or USM for medicine.

It may only be for my batch of 2016/2017, but I have friends (scholars who were excluded from their overseas studies due to the budget cuts from JPA) who managed to get UM with 1A* 3A's (non bumi). I on the other hand (bumi) managed to get into USM with just 3 A's. What im trying to say here is do not lose hope in applying to UM and USM just yet.

Now regarding applying to UM I would also like to clarify from experience that UM is quite lax in choosing prospective students to sit for their BMAT test, as I once made an account with a fake IC and they still accepted me. Regarding their English requirements do note they DO NOT accept IELTS and require MUET for their selection criteria.

All the best!! biggrin.gif

there is no "selection" in sitting for the test...everyone and anyone can apply to sit...including even arts stream students...the purpose of the test is NOT to select students only, but to profile non-academic skills and attributes a student process....which interestingly, is not linearly correlated with academic ability...you can be 4.0, but cannot qualitate quantitative values, for example...

as the top med school in msia, they have a huge pool of 4.0/straight a/a* students applying (all 4.0 aspiring med students want to apply to um, more than a thousand), and they only take in 150 nowadays...(side note: about half will come from their own asasi, as part of the usual affirmative action quota, reducing the open places to half)

this test help choose the right students....from the large pool of top students with the same result....

It depends on ur luck. I am second year student this coming sem and currently taking the Applied Biology course which mean I can choose my major( Biotech , vector and Parasitology, Marine Sc, Environmental sc) on third year. I do have one friend from A-level and another friend from Foundation in Sc at AIMST. If u did appeal , then wait for the appeal result on this end of month.

It would be too late for him to apply to um no? Intake was 28th August. Unless he directly appeal to the dean
