my mum put so much hope in usm and refuse to let me apply other uni now...Is the chance for an a level student get into high? heard from my friend mum said the chance is low and she is a lecture in usm, 'besides is there any private uni which has good reputation for course like: pharmachy( is this subject more like chem?) biotech(i know it hard to get a job later but this is my only interest right now) marine science(Marine Science is a multidisciplinary field of study and research of ocean life and physics. dont understand this) any good reason to convince my mum because i think my mum is brainwashed by neighbour and relative( ) those relative and neighbour always said like i heard that someone someone son get into usm(really got so many ppl get into usm?)

usm 2016 intake is over now, so I suppose you are going to apply next year? shouldnt choose a level if want to get into usm. I can feel your situation here, been in that situation, just that the dream uni of my mom is not usm. I made a really big mistake because of this so my advice is have a clear vision of what your want if you want to persuade your mom, follow your heart, being a mom she will understand finally. usm usually accept stpm and matircs, a level must be difficult, not sure about the subjects you are asking about, but never heard of any local private reputable with these subjects, perhaps you can try singapore uni like nus or ntu.

If usm got high chance I am okay with it la but I rarely heard that a-level student get accepted. How about nottingham or monash university?

QUOTE(Cloudynine @ Aug 14 2016, 05:20 PM) Yup... I agree for the above statement..AND.. one more thing, the employer nowadays will see your university's reputation as well before they accept you to work with them. After all, it's up to you,,to which uni you wanna go and Focus more on what's the best for you. Pharmacy graduates have issue to get posting; the current waiting time is 6 months. It will be more serious in future as government fails to control the number of graduates from private universities. I would say it is not a good time to have that. Speaking of going oversea... the license isn't supported by foreign countries.

You might even have problem finding job after graduation as the market is already oversaturated. Biotech still fine.

pharmacy is a regulated profession, and you need registration to work, and needs a compulsory 1 year pupilship....the problem is, there are too many pharmacists graduating, and thus not enough pupil jobs....hence waiting list...
biotech is a non-regulated course, is not considered a profession, and hence there is no restriction on where and what type of job you can do.....

I do have one friend from A-level and another friend from Foundation in Sc at AIMST. If u did appeal , then wait for the appeal result on this end of month.
