QUOTE(kelvin988 @ Nov 30 2016, 11:19 PM) Many shop dun have this model.. any other reccomendatio? haha, no other recommendation with your budget though, if you can't find a Ti version, just get a normal one, a 1050 can still serve you well for your Dota session, for AAA games, if you can afford a med-high setting no problem

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 11 2016, 05:09 PM) Good liquid cooler AIO never come cheap, but I have seen some positive feedback on ID-Cooling (240L only costs RM 300) I see, before this I also suggested him ID-cooling, but brand wise, he was reluctant and kept on asking the corsair one

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 11 2016, 09:12 PM) If your friend is aiming to get a Corsair 240L AIO then he needs to prepare at least RM 500, same goes to NZXT Kraken. If SSD is a must, you can consider downgrading the CPU from i5 to i3 or GPU from GTX1060 3GB to GTX1050Ti, I prefer the first option though. can you just give a suggestion for the corsair and NZXT one, I'll tell him later, if he said the prices are too much, I'll just ask him to get the ID-cooling

QUOTE(xrain87 @ Dec 15 2016, 02:25 AM) Hi Sifu.. I need some advise regarding my spec. Budjet around RM 7.3k Max Part I need to buy (Motherboard, Processor, GC) Purposed to used for Gaming , some Work (Illustrator/Photoshop) Monitor : Dell Ultrasharp U2417H (1080p Gaming Resolution) I got 2 options in my mind :- First : i7-6700k Asus Maximus Formula (1151) Asus GTX 1080 OC Second : i7-6800k Asus Rampage 10 (x99) Asus GTX 1070 OC 1) Which options good for my next upgrade ?? (currently i use i5-2500k, gtx 560Ti, Asus p8p67-Pro motherboard) 2) I really need gtx 1080 for gaming ?? or 1070 will be good enof ?? (seem like for now i gonna use it for play game at resolution 1080p) 3) i7-6700k and i7-6800k ?? big different ?? Should i stay 1151socket ? or upgrade to x99 ?? Help me sifu .. dilemma... everynight ... keep watch youtube/forum.. really cant help me make my decision. either first (1) option / second (2) option 1) First 2) for 1080p gaming, even a 1060 can get you max settings, if you have a plan of upgrading your monitor to 1440p/4k resolution, just get a 1070/1080 3) i7-6700k is sufficient for gaming as 4 cores is enough for games nowadays. Except you will utilize that extra 2 cores from i7-6800k in the future by opt for my opinion, you can even get a SSD with bigger capacity and save some more cash

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 31 2016, 02:20 PM) Any mITX chassis will do? Is there any special requirement like the size? Card height? HDD/SSD slot etc? im sorry,i was mistaken, it is actually a m-ATX chassis , need a 1 slot for SSD and HDD respectively. The height of the card not sure as need a suggestion as she'll be putting the new card in her new chassis. and just realized the price of 480gb ssd doesn't come cheap, so if the price exceed 1.5k, just downgrade the ssd to 240gb instead This post has been edited by MagnificM: Dec 31 2016, 06:50 PM

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 31 2016, 11:25 PM) Asus GTX1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 Expedition - RM 799 Kingston SSDNow UV400 480GB SSD - RM 612 Tecware F3 - RM 125 Total: RM 1536 (ETech price inclusive of GST) tqvm bro, just want to ask, I've seen you signature before, and saw that you're using a 512Gb M.2 SSD. I've watched videos regarding SSD and it looks like a M.2 SSD read and write speed is much faster compared to a SATA SSD. just want to ask for an opinion, if you have the money, is it worth it to go for M.2 instead of a normal SATA SSD ? and not all motherboard support M.2 right ?

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Jan 1 2017, 11:41 PM) There are 2 types of M.2 SSD in the market, SATA based M.2 SSD and NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD, M.2 is just an 'interface' or 'connector'. NVMe PCIe SSD is very fast but it is not worth my money if you ask me, I can't feel its existence in normal real life usage (I am just a normal user ), yes my PC does boot up few seconds faster than my normal SATA SSD but it still doesn't worth my money at least for me, I wouldn't recommend anyone to get it now (unless you are very rich ), wait for the cost and price to settle down first in the next few years. I bought it at a discounted price last time just to try it out and decided to keep it till now as my main daily driver FYI. SATA based M.2 SSD is much cheaper, almost identical to 2.5" SATA SSD, speed wise is also similar to 2.5" SATA SSD as they are using SATA interface. And yes not all mobo support M.2, even if it does support M.2, you will need to check whether it supports NVMe or not before purchasing a NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD, if it doesn't, you can only install a SATA based M.2 SSD (like most of the laptops only support SATA M.2 SSD, except the newer one). I see, I've been confused about this M.2 SSD before. I think, it'll be much better to put the money for let say a 1Tb SSD instead a M.2 NVMe SSD. If I were to use this NVMe SSD, Does my motherboard as per sigi support a NVMe SSD where my mobo have this M.2 with PCIe 3.0x4 interface ? Does frequent load a big file>1.5Gb considered normal user ?

QUOTE(Zanmai0146 @ Jan 2 2017, 07:04 PM) Yeah prolly 1080 as my monitor is dell u2414h for starting. I ordered all the parts, only left GPU, keyboard, mouse and speaker have not confirmed yet. so a GTX1060 will serve you well for a maximum 1080p experiences

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Jan 2 2017, 08:48 PM) For pure speedy storage, SATA SSD is still more worth for now. And your mobo supports both SATA and PCIe M.2 SSD, 1.5GB is nothing since it can be transferred in just few seconds even with SATA SSD (provided the destination drive isn't too slow) TQVM for the explanations

QUOTE(skty @ Jan 3 2017, 01:19 AM) Hi bro, to clear up your mind, you won't see much different in real world test for SATA SSD or PCIe SSD or M.2 PCIe SSD in transferring files, gaming, windows boot time, etc. The most is few second different although in benchmark you saw big big difference. Then you will ask, do you need a PCIe SSD? Whether is in the form factor of M.2, U.2, or PCIe add on card? Well, it depends on your usage. Let me give you an example why PCIe 3.0 x4 is a must have for video editor. You see, to capture a 4K video in real time / live, normal HDD, SATA SSD and even some slower PCIe SSD can't perform. What do I mean by can't perform? Well, the video capture process will stop because the MB/s writing speed is more than what the HDD or SSD can sustain, therefore it stop capturing. So, if you do not perform such task, I consider you don't need a PCIe SSD, unless you have money to burn. And as a normal user, for IOPS, you need to emphasize more on higher 4K read and 4K write speed instead of sequential read and write speed. I see, that clear things much better, I've tried to watch some videos on youtube, but still can't differ the functions, requirements, etc . TQVM for the explanations, I'll be much better of with normal SATA SSD
