Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 490
ASRock H110M-HDV - RM 245
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 198
Sapphire RX460 4GB GDDR5 Nitro - RM 699
Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB SSD - RM 287
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 209
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 166
Tecware Alpha - RM 199

Total: RM 2966 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

OS is not included, not sure which version you need, but you can get it cheaper in Garage Sales section.

If you plan to buy in Penang, you can look for GTech (hikari85) in Butterworth but price might be slightly higher than Klang Valley area.

btw thx

I will ditch the i5-K to i7 anytime, this will reduce the cost significantly (no need Z170, 3rd party cooler, high speed RAM and potential OC worries) and add the money into the 4K monitor funds biggrin.gif

thx bro, another question, what is the best low profile aio cooler that one can get at the market right now ?  sweat.gif
*
AIO CPU water cooler doesn't have significant profile difference, all of them come with a radiator (120/140/240/280mm etc), a pump, pipe and casing fan (optional).

The cheapest one is probably ID Cooling, I haven't tested it personally yet so I am not sure about the performance of this cooler, high end CPU air cooler might beat it in terms of efficiency.

The next "safest" or branded one should be CM Seidon 120V and Corsair H55.

*
GTX1050Ti doesn't have 6GB version, Idealtech pricelist has a typo on this sweat.gif

It's either GTX1060 6GB or RX480 8GB for 1k - 1.5k budget, if you don't mind getting a used card, then GTX980Ti 6GB or GTX1070 8GB can be considered too, they are marginally faster than GTX1060 and RX480.

In general speaking, it shouldn't have any major issue when running latest triple A titles on max or near max settings IF the title you play is well optimized or at least not a poor console port.

Hi guys, long time no visiy this forum. Been busy lately with Fantasy Premier League. K, enough of craps.

I want to build a gaming rig for 2.7k max. No excess anymore.

One more, does Etech or any other shop provide free Windows for the rig we bought?
*
Not sure about the free Windows, but most of the PC shops will install a trial version to test the rig to ensure all hardware components are working and detectable in OS.

Intel Core i5 6402P - RM 732
ASRock H110M-HDV - RM 245
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 198
Palit GTX1060 3GB GDDR5 Dual - RM 938
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Tecware Alpha - RM 199

Total: RM 2715 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Ask the shopkeeper to waive the RM 15 so the total cost wouldn't go over 2.7k biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Mr_47 @ Oct 26 2016, 10:29 PM)
need 2 sets of rig ( desktop PC only no LCD nothing else)

[Budget]

[Purpose]
work and lite gaming ( racing game and cs/dota/fps casual)
*
Intel Pentium G4400 - RM 225
ASRock H110M-HDV - RM 245
Kingston 4GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 112
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
CM Elite Power 350W - RM 126
Armageddon T1x - RM 95

Total: RM 1018 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

For the 1.5k rig, you can just add a Palit/Zotac branded GTX750Ti (less than RM 500) into the 1k rig, bump the RAM to 8GB if needed and budget allows.

i5 6500k or i7-6700.

casual gaming like bf1 and future high graphics games.

Can an overclocked i5-6500k perform better than i7-6700? noticeable performance increase?
*
Ermm I think there is a typo there right? Should be 6600K.

6600K is an unlocked quad core CPU, 6700 is a locked quad core with multithreading technology support.

In theory, if you bump the 6600K to 4.5GHz, it should be faster than 6700 but this doesn't apply to all real life application out there, some games/apps do utilize the multithreading technology and take full advantage of it.

Take note that overclocking the 6600K to match or overtake the performance of 6700 will require a good Z170 mobo, a decent CPU cooler (stock cooler won't cut it) and PSU (not really a problem since overclocking doesn't consume too much power nowadays).

QUOTE(MagnificM @ Oct 26 2016, 11:15 PM)
Ok, another friend of mine have this discontinued Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W. He was planning to get a 1060 next yr. Is 500W enough for the 1060 ? if not, ill suggest him to get 1050Ti
*
360W max output on 12V rails, so yes this PSU is able to run a single GTX1060 provided you don't have any other high consumption components installed in the rig.

QUOTE(ayaizafri @ Oct 27 2016, 12:24 AM)
Is this include CPU cooling?
*
Yea the CPU package does come with 1 Intel HSF (stock cooler) while the casing comes with 2 casing fans (1 intake 1 exhaust).

ok, ive checked at a website that the PSU only provide 1 6 pin cabel, if my friend want to get those GTX1060 with a 8 pin connector, he can just get an adapter right ? i mean some 6 pin to 8 pin adapter ?  sweat.gif
*
The TDP for GTX1060 is just 120W and it only requires 1 x 6 pin PCIe power cable, even those cards with the extra 2 pin are also very hard to go beyond this limit. My advise is to play safe, even we know there is a very high chance that the GPU won't be using the extra power from the last 2 pin, it is still better to get something that is compatible with each other.

So it either just stick with 6 pin card or upgrade the PSU and get a 8 pin card (this will double the cost which isn't worth at all).

Isn't that overclocking will increase power draw exponentially because of overvolting? Because mine is overclocked but not even a month in age yet, and I fear my electricity bill will go through the roof sweat.gif
*
It will increase power draw but not much for light and mild overclocking, but don't worry too much, your CPU aren't staying at the overclocked speed for 24/7 and skyrocket your bill, if it really does increase the bill by a margin that isn't acceptable by you (or the one who is paying the bill), just underclock the CPU to stock speed if you aren't using any CPU demanding software (or adaptive power management) sweat.gif

My monitor only has VGA input. If I were to get a GTX 1050, would a HDMI to VGA converter/adapter work and would there be any lag?
*
VGA to HDMI involves analog to digital signal convertion, it depends on the quality of the cable, if you aren't too picky on the quality then you will be fine, it wouldn't cause any noticeable lag or slow down, only slightly less quality images will be rendered on the screen in the worst case.

Signal convertion will take place if VGA is involved, so there is no difference between DVI and HDMI to VGA, both will need to convert analog signal to digital signal and vice versa.

Just a couple of questions. The PSU never heard before of the brand, is it good? Read some reviews saying if can get the EVGA equivalent?

Also, will GTX1070 have any effect at all with AutoCAD and stuffs compared to GTX1060?

Also, Thanks for your recommendations.  thumbup.gif
*
Superflower is the OEM for many PSU brands out there, so no worries on this, in fact the specific model that I've chosen is a top tier (grade A) PSU that is available at a very affordable price in the local market.

Not all EVGA PSU are made equally, some of the low end EVGA models are just so-so and EVGA doesn't manufacture/produce PSU at all, they outsource the manufacturing process to other PSU OEM like Superflower, FSP and Seasonic, what they do is just simply apply their brand name sticker (and other info) on the PSU itself and do the packaging before they ship it to the retailers biggrin.gif

GTX1070 which packs more CUDA cores (33% more) than GTX1060, this will certainly help in those GPU oriented operation/process, but first you will have to find out whether your workload involves all those heavy GPU bounded stuffs or not first, if no then GTX1060 should be enough.

For the upgrade part, what games do you play? If only Dota 2/CS:GO or light weight games then you can just go for the newly released GTX1050Ti (around RM 750). And about the cooler, do you overclock your CPU?

New rig based on i7:

2. Do i need additional cooler if its fx6300?
3. can i say i3-6100 with ssd on par with i5 processor?

Thanks in advance!

edit: also please assist on price biggrin.gif
*
Spending money in an aged AMD FX CPU is quite risky due to inconsistent gaming performance across all the titles in the market, if the games that you play is optimized to run on the multicore architecture of FX6300 then it will pull ahead in i3 (or same par with it). i3 will give you a more stable performance and less headache in current context.

3rd party is not needed if you don't overclock the FX CPU. An i3 is always an i3 (2C4T, desktop SKU), you cannot simply "upgrade" it to i5 (4C4T) by just adding a SSD, SSD is just a storage disk and it contributes nothing to CPU computation other than just a much faster I/O performance than standard HDD. The "core" between Intel and AMD is not the same, you cannot compare them directly as they are built under different architectures.

450W is enough for GTX1050Ti, the TDP is just 75W (for stock reference specs).

Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 490
ASRock H110M-HDV - RM 245
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 198
Zotac GTX1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 Mini - RM 729
Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB SSD - RM 190
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Corsair VS450 - RM 162
Tecware F3 - RM 119

Total: RM 2348 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

You can "downgrade" the i3 6100 to i3 6098P to save some money if you wish, i3 6098P is just 0.1GHz slower than i3 6100 and comes with a weaker iGPU (HD510) which isn't important at all if you have a dedicated GPU.
