I've done quite a bit of reading up too as I am planning to make a leap (soon?). Was initially contemplating the PCIe lanes matter too but alas, likelihood of me doing more than 2 GPU in SLI will be remote. On my list currently, is a build involving Z170 mobo (Gigabyte Designare?) with a I7 6700K. But with Kabylake around the corner, have been putting this off. As for GPU, it is a toss-up between ASUS Strix GTX 1080 OC and MSI Gaming Z (belum sampai lagi). Of course, am hopeful that a GTX 1080ti will become a reality soon too.

Long story short, need to keep my poison resistance buff on high.

someone selling Zotac 980Ti Amp Omega for RM1600, with only 2 yrs warranty on pcgm FB. so close to some GTX 1060 price but i guess it's worth saving up and get a 1070 instead.

No problems if the game engine is competent enough to keep up with the monitor, massive tearing if it isn't. With your kind of framerates, enable FastSync (if you're running single card) or Adaptive V-Sync (if you're running multiple cards). Or use traditional V-Sync if the game doesn't affect your inputs and introduces lag. With every games, they need to be tweaked differently, there's no rule of thumb here........unless you're running G-Sync, that takes care of almost everything.

Bear in mind, some people aren't susceptible to tearing, they don't see it as obvious, or don't really mind tearing as they're "used" to it. Others can't stand it. Just like those who can't stand anything lower than 120hz and 144hz monitors while others are perfectly okay with 60hz.

Do you disable pagefile with 32 GB RAM or just leave Windows to manage it? I noticed that even with 32GB RAM, Windows still use pagefile.

That Samsung 950 PRO M.2 has a read/write of 2500/1500 if not wrong. A more common 850 EVO has 540/520. So much powah!! Almost an instantaneous boot up on power

yea hibernate more useful for laptops when you are mobile and dont want to shutdown completely. i also disable it on desktop PCs since it's a space hogger and i only use sleep and rarely ever use hibernate.

32GB is prob enough to disable page file but i also read that it cannot be completely disabled, windows still uses a small portion. maybe it reserve for memory dumps when BSOD? another annoying one is the SuperFetch which is suppose to speed up applications startup by caching in RAM, with SSD it should be automatically disabled by Windows.

been 2 weeks since upgraded to GTX1060, but there's no AAA games that can entertain me..

first week, OC-ed the GPU a bit, then test a couple games..after that, constantly turned on PC and straight go to FB, /k and utube...

BF4 boring ady..and its graphic detail doesn't see much improvement even after already crank settings to the ultra...Witcher 3 lazy to replay back from the start..No Man's Sky not my type..

8gb is minimum for gaming on 64bit os, these days.  16gb just sweet spot, i brought a corsair vengeance pro 16gb kit 2400mhz just last week from TechView, but back order almost 3 weeks of wait. Rm390 only with delivery not bad price by default XMP i get 2133mhz on my old mobo and i5 2500k, with oc its lagi sweet.

its rated 2400mhz , i tested on stock no clock on cpu and ram, xmp on my mobo just runs at 2133mhz , can easily manually set back to 2400mhz but i need to do some clocking on cpu as well, which i didnot cause i dont see the point, so far every game i throw at my set up , it ran silky smooth... loving the 10series card.. reallly sweet spot for 1080p gaming

Big fps drop from Medium -> High, High-> Ultra. On max Ultra, 980 Ti @ 1080p can hit ~ 40fps. 970 would be in real pain. 

I'm already saving for BF1 (PC), Watch Dogs 2 (PC), Dishonored 2 (PC), The Last Guardian (PS4) and F1 2016 (PS4)

hi wanna ask. can any1 tell me the score of fire strike extreme benchmark on gtx1080 oc edition? the graphic test 1 and 2 i running on my strix 1080 oc was about 20-30fps only ..the hell...?

Initially I did thought of building a second rig for HTPC. Already have Bitfenix Prodigy M from my older rig and some RAM. But I know if built second rig purposely for HTPC, it will be underutilized coz I will still mostly game with my main rig. Would be a waste of money buying mobo, CPU, SSD, HDD, PSU etc even if used items. And my Dell E6520 laptop too is underutilized. Only my wife use it sometimes at home, and I don't like carrying it around when I travel coz its heavy (I prefer the my lighter Acer 11.6" netbook). So that's why I thought using the Dell E6520 with eGPU would be good way of making full use of what ever I have now. Playing FIFA15 or Racing Dirt 3 on the LG 55" TV while laying on the living room sofa. But for more serious game, I'll stick to my 4K monitor and GTX 1080 SLI.

Already thinking of using this Edifier Subwoofer from my office as the casing for the eGPU setup. Going to mod it and fit the Optiplex PSU, the eGPU dock and the RX 470 inside, and maybe even a 240mm fan for ventilation. And it will not look out of place next to the TV cabinet. Nobody will know that this subwoofer will turn into a low-mid end gaming rig when I plug in my Dell laptop. "Chipsmore" cookies tag line "Now You See It, Now You Don't"

I'm just going based on the pattern.

I have used the RX 460 and the performance is like a GTX 950 level, you think GTX 1050 would be like an RX 460?

No way man, not a chance. A GTX 950 non-power model still outruns a RX 460.

GTX 1060 typically is faster than the GTX 970, performance around the GTX 980.

The GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti, I reckon the 1050 Ti would be around GTX 970 performance level while GTX 1050 be at between GTX 960 and GTX 970.

There's quite a gap between a GTX 960 and GTX 970 so I think my prediction is reasonable.

Put it simple - all the 10 series perform almost 2 notches higher than the card they're replacing.

GTX 1080 - faster than GTX 980 Ti (or GTX 990 if it ever existed).
GTX 1070 - around the speed of a GTX 980 Ti (which is a huge jump above 980)
GTX 1060 - around GTX 980.

So it's only logical to see

GTX 1050 Ti - slightly above GTX 970.
GTX 1050 - slightly below GTX 970.

exactly. for ppl who seek for performance, at least GTX1060 3GB. for ppl who just want a entry level graphic card, GTX950 enough already.
