Just sharing...not my watch though (a friend of mine)

Brand: Audemars Piguet

Guess how much does it costs?

One of my good friend is also big time AP collector. But he doesn't like AP ROC. Prefers exotic ROOs and Divers. He also collects Patek Philippe.

I am planning to buy his Volcano as pictured below as he is selling it because he has way too many watches. Not enough wrist time.

What other APs does your friend have?

Ps - Bro. Better ask your friend where he got his ROC. There is a huge gap between the crown and case. And the chronograph pushers looks different. My friend also confirm that your friend's watch looks fake.

How much does your friend sell his Volcano?

Sorry but the transaction is private so I cannot divulge the price. But it's lower than market price and it has just been serviced by AP Singapore.

Was debating with myself between this and the FOIS all day long. Then masuk masuk the shop, the FOIS was sold just hours earlier. Decision made easy. Lol

The size is a bit big though.
*
The Sapphire Sandwich is a more classic model. Looks like the hesalite version but with the added durability of Sapphire and a display caseback to boot.

The brake in the Sapphire version is metal while the hesalite version is made of Delrin (plastic). The Sapphire version is also better decorated. That's why it costs RM3,000 more.

plus the sapphire has incorrect wording on the caseback.
*
Everdying

Technically not incorrect. Officially, it is the first and only watch on the moon. I confirmed that with the employees there during my trip to their NASA space center.

There were astronauts whom wore their own watches to space and moon but officially there is only one that is certified and recognized.

Also, the hesalite version has an incorrect movement. The Moonwatch that was worn by Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong had the caliber 321. Modern versions have the caliber 1861.

So the current crop of hesalite "Moonwatch" are not the actual models that went to the moon. It's all marketing.

Edit - just want to add that the newer Sapphire Sandwich now have the "correct" wording, omitting "only" in their new caseback.

but its been well documented already that its not the only one...regardless if it's certified or not.
im pretty sure u already know lots of others also don't like the 'only', even on the omegaforums.
i previously had a 3572, flipped it but still keeping 3570.
anyway the moon thing gets stupid... 1st chrono in space... 1st dog in space... waiting for 1st clown in space...
*
1st Malaysian in space? When will they make an Omega in Malaysian colors on the dial for that? I have been waiting ever since Dr. What'sHisName became the first angkasawan.

Agree. All this marketing is sickening. Hence I only buy watch I like.

Any idea where's the service center for Nomos in Malaysia? They are using in-house movement so it may need to be sent back to a Nomos Service center for overhauls.

I'd say buy what you like and don't care what others would say/judge onto you

However I do note that Malaysians in particular are very materialistic. Had a few bad experience with sales person over that
*
Yup. I had bad experience at HG MV. They totally ignored me when I was shopping for a new watch not too long ago.

So when I finally pulled the trigger on the TT Daytona 116503, I went back to HG and rubbed it at their face.

HG staff at G Mall tend to look down on people who are not dressed in designer wear.

Actually, make that twice I was snubbed at HG. The first time was more than a year ago. Wanted to buy a Sub C. Said no stock so put myself on the waiting list. They never even bothered to contact me after almost half a year. I was fed up and managed to locate one in a Rolex Boutique in town and pull the trigger there.

Not sure if they even put me on the waiting list in the first place as they have yet to call me for the Sub C.

So, those HG Salespeople think I have no money to buy watches and they lost out on two sales within a year. Around 100k worth of sales lost because they refuse to attend to a young ciku dressed in no brand polo shirt and jeans.

didnt know MV also got HG...i hardly go there anyway.

I prefer Cortina and SWG. The staff there are friendlier. The SWG Bangsar and Cortina Starhill have the friendliest staff. Awesome retail experience complete with free coffee (SWG) and mineral water (Cortina).

I was actually there to check out the GMT/SubC the other day. Staff service was alright,  but can see that they don't really want to attend to me probably due to my age. However they were a little busy since it was 9pm and almost closing time. Will probably head back there if I'm ever around that area and bored again.

Probably when the grail arrives I'll go back there and rub it on their face as well if they x layan me
*
I will not be that angry if they inform me that the Sub C is reserved only for their best customers. But they pretended to write down my number and said they will contact me when the watch arrives. I even asked them whether if I need to put down 50% deposit or not. They refused my deposit and said that they will contact me when the item arrives.

The Rolex Daytona TT was another incident that got on my nerves. Went in there and they ignored me. Then after realizing that I am not going anywhere, they sent their most junior staff to half heartedly attend to me even though I was looking at their TT Daytona case. I thought for slow moving and non sellable items, they would quickly try to close the sale. Waterfish Mah...

But no, they didn't even bother to serve me well at all. Very embarrassing experience for me as I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcomed there.

Don't have to, it's just servicing and oiling
If replace parts yes needs to go back to Germany

Even for me I have a service center here in states, it's just a contacted watchmaker. His skill not great, end up shipping to germany
*
I don't trust in-house movements in the hands of third party watchmakers. The chances of them messing up on it is much higher than an ETA or Selita.

That's the main problem with Nomos. They do not have a service center in Malaysia. Makes it difficult and probably expensive to get it repaired.

What for? And go blind in the process? Squinting your eyes for long hours is a surefire way to damage your eyesight.

Also, without a parts account with any brand, might as well open an ayam service center.

I would rather enjoy collecting watches than deal with the service side of things.

QUOTE(Jason @ Dec 2 2016, 11:56 PM)
Valid point there. I wonder if there's any competent independent watch service center in Malaysia for Rolex. Btw any SC for ETA watches? I think my Tag 7750 is due for a service soon.

I've read horror stories of Rolex Official SC swapping out vintage dials for new service parts cause the vintage one was deemed unfit for service.
*
Jason
RSC will take reasonable requests. I have a Y-series Datejust with a rare date wheel (open 6 and 9) and unmarked tritium dial (without T on the dial) that has been going to RSC exclusively for more than a decade now.

They have been doing a great job and respect my wishes on certain requests.

I would say that in order to preserve the value of your Rolex, better go back to RSC. Rolex is known for not touching any watches that have been serviced by third party watchmakers, especially when there have been unauthorized parts installed. RSC will blacklist and mark XXX on watches with non-genuine parts.

Every Rolex sold will undoubtly be verified at RSC due to rampant fakes. And if your watch is marked XXX, Rolex will inform the buyer that the watch is unserviceable at Rolex.

Better to service exclusively at RSC to maintain the value of your watch.

See link below for the discussion on RSC XXX mark of death.

If you cannot find anyone you trust too bad.
Lucky my 3rd party watchmaker I trust, he is authorized Rolex service guy and is willing to do all Swiss job.

Now that I move, my local service place is a authorized service center for many place and they take jobs but no experience with them. Need to test with my JLC lol
*
patryn33
In Malaysia? I hate to tell you this but there are no Authorized Third Party Service Center for Rolex in Malaysia. No one has a parts account here except for RSC themselves.

If your watchmaker told you he is an Authorised Rolex guy, he is telling fibs. Better bring your Rolex to RSC to assess whether if he turned your Rolex into a frankenwatch.

Well for a budget of about 5-6k, what automatic watch would you guys recommend? Currently wearing a Tissot Quartz watch and has a SKX007 already.

Ball watch. Or Tissot Solar Touch and pocket the change.

Alternatively, you can also look into preowned Tag Heuer Aquaracer.

preschool, LOL... there are other nice watches also but that parent no longer there

Be careful of nice watches on parents. A lot of times, if you look at them carefully, they turn out to be fakes

I saw an "AP ROO" during my son's report card day last month, upon close inspections, the Sub dials are equally spaced. Real ones have unevenly spaced Sub dials due to the chronograph module used.

I also saw an Omega "planet ocean" on one of the parents in my son's class. Looks good from afar but once I sat next to him, I saw that the dial looks like junk and the date wheel is white when the dial and bezel are black.
