Two tone watches are an easy tell. Look for scratches on the gold portion, if the underneath metal is not gold then it is a fake as Rolex Two Tone only use solid 18k gold on their gold parts.

There should be scratches on the bracelet. Look for deeper scratches and see whether if the underneath metal is the same color as the top metal.

If it was scratched up and the color does not look different between the areas where there are no scratches and the areas with scratches, then it is a real gold watch.

There is a reason why steel watches are the most popular counterfeit watches worn by posers. Fake gold watch, after a week or so of wearing it, will show that it is a fake due to the scratched areas looking either black or silver.

Nope. I don't think so as Sapphire glass is around RM1000 cost for around 32mm diameter.

You can however get a Swatch skeleton watch for less than 2k but it will have a plastic glass.

Besides, to a lot of us, Sapphire glass is an afterthought and not that important. We don't see the allure of Sapphire glass. Even the Moonwatch is hesalite and not Sapphire.

Like everdying said. You better like the watch when you buy it. Resale value is also non existence due to refresh models being released once every 2 years.

Oris makes nice watches but their resale value is similar to Ball, Bell and Ross, Certina and other entry level Swiss brands. In 8 years of ownership, resale price will crater to 20% of RRP.

The AP boutique at Starhill has two on sale. Only RM98,000.

But seriously, why do you want an AP diver? It's neither here or there. AP Royal Oak 15202 or AP ROO are better options than the Diver. If you need a diving watch, just get the Submariner in addition to the AP15202.

Beware of preowned watch dealers. If the deal is too good to be true, then it probably is.

Always better to buy new from a boutique for a piece of mind. All my watches are bought new when possible.

Why don't you go to the boutique and check? I may have remembered it wrongly. But the price is around there +/-10k as AP have gone through two price increases this year alone.

Their AP15400 costs RM68,000 including GST.

AP ROO and AP Diver price difference is arouund 10k bro depending on the model.

Paying cash will net you a better discount. I usually can get 20% for Omega by paying fully in cash. 25% is possible if you are buying two Omega watches and paying both by cash.

Even Mercedes offer a 5% -10% discount when you buy two MB at the same time. Buy more, get more discount. Especially when you pay cash.

Sorry buddy but there are no investment grade watches at RM3k. Even vintage investment grade watches start at RM40k (USD$10k). And that’s not including the servicing costs on vintage watches, which can cost a chunk of the watch’s value depending on the condition.

Add an extra 0 and you can opt for entry level investment grade watches like the Rolex 1016 if you look hard enough. Beat up (bad) condition ones are going for around 30k.

Even a throwaway Tissot Touch cost more than 3k.

If you are looking for Oak and Offshore, there is no discount. I was also looking for one earlier before I pulled the trigger on a TT Daytona with the updated bezel instead.

I don’t know as I don’t usually shop at the airport. Whenever I fly, I will hang around the MAS lounge on the second floor and load up on the free liquor and food if I am early. Otherwise, I will rush to my boarding gate if I am late.

Maybe Ops can try American ADs in LA or NYC as they usually are more open about discounting. You can also claim the sales tax so you won’t be affected by the high state tax.

Both are nice.

But Omega has slightly better resale value depending on the model.

Tag is nice too as I like their cheap Tourbillon. They are bringing haute horologia to the masses. Am waiting for their budget minute repeater.
