slightly confused :

1. Does Dream Machine (UMD-Pro) support PoE ?
2. Are all Cat5e cables PoE or is there specific cables for PoE ?
*
dream machine not support any poe function. need poe switches or using poe adapter that comes with the AP.
Cat 5e and above support PoE function. but to use PoE++ normally suggested to use Cat6A.

This is only POE, not POE+. You won't be able to power a U6-LR with this.

Hi everyone,

Anyone care to share their Ubiquiti Access Point RF settings? Specifically the Channel Width and the Transmit Power? Right now I'm setting 2.4ghz at HT20 and 5ghz at HE40. Both are using Auto Transmit Power. Thanks!

too bad only just PoE.
802.3af (PoE) can deliver 15.4 watts
802.3at (PoE+) can deliver up to 30 watts

not really sure worth or not get this... ubiquiti do something for upgrade but the upgrade like so damn so-so doh.gif

that PoE only able power up ac pro, ac lr, mesh, and at least U6-Lite.

sometimes, its better leave as it is as auto ( Auto = High = 20dBm).

this is about avoiding co-interference (between radios).

If two radios are mounted close to each other, and especially if they're on the same channel, they can reduce the effectiveness of each other.

And some cases high output doesn't increase range because the client radio must also return a good signal to the access point. And the client is often a low-performance mobile device.

i normally turn of 2.4Ghz, and using 5Ghz at HT80 with DFS channel. important is no interferences. power i jz leave it auto.. not really bother it..

I'm looking to set up VPN direct into the USG3 (non-pro) but my Google search is turning up a lot of posts saying the speed (L2TP) is horrible slow.

Admittedly those posts are a few years back so has recent firmware/controller updates change this (or it's due to USG hw limitation and not likely resolvable)?

What are the experiences of the sifus here with using the USG3 as a VPN server? Or am I better off exploring other options eg using a Rasperry PI?

TQ

Just go for the U6 versions. I managed to setup my UDM Pro yesterday. U6-LR is so good! Using 2, one at the third floor and another on the first floor.

L2tp generally slow.. so if u use Ras PI, high chances it will be more or less the same the result. need POC.

this was like old news.. for 3 yrs ago... as main distributor said, UniFo word cause confusion, so in the end, they are not allowed to market the product using UniFi words. even gov agency now purchasing a lot of Ubiquiti AP... lazada and shopee seller, idk where they get their supply.. but what info they receive could be not accurate. scratch off UniFi word. Not affecting end user.. if use.. only selling for commercial usage.

Ubiquiti might also affected by the chip shortage worldwide. Thats just my opinion however. Best case scenario if im guessing it right, buy it through the eu website whenever the stock comes up then forward it to yourself.
