Revision on Hong Leong WISE Platinum and Gold Credit Card Terms and Conditions

user posted image

Questions and Answers

Q: What is the change made to the WISE Credit Card spend condition?
A: The minimum 10x swipes with RM50 spend condition will be replaced by minimum RM2,000 posted retail spend in a calendar month effective 1 Oct 2016. All other existing features and conditions remain unchanged.

Q: Why did Hong Leong Bank make the spend condition change?
A: HLB made the spend condition change to improve simplicity and convenience. The WISE Credit Card is one of the most competitive programmes locally and this change is vital to allow us to continue to offer this programme.

Q: Does it mean that, regardless the number of swipes/transactions I perform, as long as I meet minimum posted spend of RM2,000, I will enjoy 10% cash back on chosen categories?
A: Yes, you are right. Please see illustrations below for better a understanding:-

Q: RM100 cash back over Total Spend of RM2,000 is up to 5% cash back, not 10%?
A: 10% cash back is calculated based on amount spent on your WISE chosen categories, not on Total Spend, for the month. It has always been WISE Credit Card product feature since it was launched. This feature remains unchanged effective 1 Oct 2016.

Q: With the 10% cash back, will I still enjoy up to RM100/month?
A: You will still enjoy up to RM100 cash back on your chosen categories. This feature remains unchanged effective 1 Oct 2016.

Q: What will happen to the categories I have chosen?
A: Your chosen categories remain unchanged effective 1 Oct 2016. You will continue to enjoy 10% cash back, up to RM100 if you meet the RM2,000 qualifying spend condition.

Q: My average spend per month on WISE Credit Card is RM1,000. How could I meet the minimum RM2,000 requirement?
A: WISE Credit Card gives out one of the highest cash backs. One way to meet the minimum RM2000 requirement is to consolidate all your purchases on your WISE credit card, for instance, pay for daily shopping, dining, groceries, insurance premiums, utility bills as well as enrol for auto-billing service.

Q: If I decided not to keep my WISE Credit Card, what option do I have?
A: If you find that the changed WISE Credit Card does not suit your needs, you are welcome to switch your WISE Credit Card to another credit card. No switching cost involved. Just give us a call at +603 7626 8899. We will be happy to assist you.

It is effective 1st October 2016, so are we still getting the CB for September (based on 10 swipes) on 29th October?
*
should get.

they just revised the minimum spending requirements, not stopping crediting cashback.

based on other's feedback, you can transfer the earned cashback to other card's account (e.g. Mach). not sure about CASA though.

but the new terms not attractive d, last time you can pump petrol mobile dining = RM800, get RM80cb, now you these three spend 1500, also could be ZERO cb...

2000 a month is RM24000 a year, if a lot peoples manage to spend 24000 a year on credit card, i don think they need cb since they are rich cry.gif  AND the average income peoples is A LOT more than rich in Malaysia, wise card no longer wise choice...
*
i know the revised requirements are not attractive.

i was answering to the cashback earned in Sep, whether we will get cashback in October.

how about UOB Yolo as replacement?

my main expenses are:

1) Petrol
2) TNB
3) Astro
4) Unifi
*
the problem is whether YOLO's "online" transaction identification is identical to VOX's "online".

if same, then should be ok; else if it's as picky as CIMB CR (e.g. uobpayonline not eligible), then a bit tough to hit the 6% cb tier (min rm800 spending)

p/s: u get cb from astro using wise? also, yolo dont give cb for petrol wor.

Put it this way, if I don't swipe my insurance using Wise card, I would be using other card which gives me roughly 0.5% cashback on the amount swiped.

Total Cashback currently I get is about RM105 on RM2,000 (RM1,000 of Insurance etc and RM1,000 on Mobile, Groceries and Petrol), it's still about 5% (5.25%) anyway. Now, with those payment made from Wise card, RM1,000 on Insurance etc will not earn anything, but I will still be getting RM100 from Mobile, Groceries and Petrol. That's how I see it.  smile.gif

Annual fee is not in the picture yet of course but that's what I have to pay no matter what.
*
if gonna spend 2k, perhaps can look at SC JustOne card smile.gif disadvantage is steep AF at RM265 for Plat rclxub.gif

Wise card rules will be changed, no more 10 RM50 transactions instead minimum RM2000 spending per calendar mth. The rest remained the same. Commence 1st ep 2016.
*
QUOTE(sleepwalker @ Sep 9 2016, 09:17 AM)
It is the same with all banks. Please read the T&C and stated that the bank only has to provide 21 days of notice for any changes in the card terms and benefits. That is why since the rumour started a few months back we have been telling people to keep watch for any announcements before the 10th of each month. If no announcement means no change but it the changes finally arrive but not the same as rumoured.
*
actually the 2nd rumor matches on the requirements (min 2k), but effective date delayed from Sep to Oct sweat.gif

It seems that after 1 October 2016, we need to try whether the 5% effective cash back given is still based on round-up to the nearest RM or not.

So, it is still uncertain whether we should ensure that the total transaction for each category should end with RM 5.
*
from t&cs, category and cb logic still the same. they only revise the 'cb activation' criteria.

sorry RM1k

for selected caterories RM2k not so easy RM1 is most likely cry.gif
*
think it the other way.

with this new requirement, effective CB goes to 5%. so where does the 'missing' 5% goes?

1st 1K pay those "dan lain-lain" spending, e.g. car service, insurance, etc etc
2nd 1K goes to category spending.

so, you got 10% for 2nd 1K (within categories), but 5% is actually indirectly paid for those 1st 1K (dan lain-lain) spending. that means your car service or insurance gotten 5% cashback, indirectly.

disadvantage is you need to manage 2 pools of RM1k spending in order to maximize it the cb.

well, that's just my view. sweat.gif

That is only true if WISE is your only CB card. Currently I have PB VS and that gives me 6% back on internet payment which I'm using to get CB on TNB and Unifi (and eventually move mobile over here too). It will also be more worth it to move groceries over here from my WISE. This card can cover dining weekdays and Amex takes care of weekends. So there is not much left to make up for the extra 1K to qualify for the 'dan lain lain' spending.
*
yes, not worth it if you have other cards to cover. very hard to hit 1k for 'dan lain-lain' spending.

that scenario only for niche users with very limited cards on hand to play around. biggrin.gif

Therefore i assumed if i want to cancel Wise, the GSC card have to be cancelled as well.

I have made up my mind to keep HLB Wise and move all the spending from SCB Cashback Gold to Wise and cancel SCB Gold. I will gain 2 advantages from this:
1. Reduce spending from RM1500 (SCB Gold) to RM1000 (remaining of Wise)
2. Effective cashback from 3.33% to 4.29% (inclusive AF).

What do you guys think?

sign0006.gif
*
why not?

if you can consistently meet Wise's new requirements each month, then still good nonetheless.
