how you guys reduce the wind noise on alza? when going above 100/kmh the car are too noisy. any tips to make the ride more comfortable on highway?
Yes, i find the noise at highway speeds quite bad too on my new used Alza...
I don't remember my previous 2014 Myvi being that bad.
been doing a lot of research and some work on my Alza for the past couple of months...
What tires are you using? start from there. Some tires are more noisy than others. Cheap generic ones are the worst.
after tires... comes soundproofing.. it can range from hundreds to thousands.
https://www.secondskinaudio.com/sound-deade...best-car-audio/Method3:
1. Sound Deadening
2. Sound Absorbing
3. Sound Blocking
do the 4 doors for most effect for your money...
do roof if rain noise bothers you, not much use normally. The 2014 onwards Facelift model has basic insulation in the roof already. Earlier models dont have any i believe.
do the wheel arch and floor if you really want to... it is a lot of work... uses a lot of material (rises the cost)... generally helps trucks and 4x4 with noisy offroad tires, running on sandy roads, but limited improvement on passenger cars like ours on normal roads with quiet comfort tires.
i just went for 4 doors with Step1 Deadening using STP Aero (not cheap, does not cost an arm either) and Step2 Absorbing with Perodua GearUp DoorComfort (2 layer foam that is precut to fit... its pretty value for money and covnenience actually).
Skipped Stage3 Blocking since Mass Loaded Vinyls are heavy (to block sound). No point adding that weight when the rest of the car is not fully soundproof either.
Foaming does all 3 for the doors... but adds weight too and also pretty
permanent. Not my cup of tea.
now i can have a normal conversation with wife in the back seat with baby without having to raise our voices.
The stock radio also sound clearer, with some hear-able bass while at a lower volume setting than before just because the speakers in the doors benefit from the sound insulation g too.
We are every happy with the car as it is now. Onwards to other projects!
