Yeah, I had the same feeling too when I first got the car. Feels like the light didn't shine bright or long enough. So I set it to the farthest "0".

I thought of changing the bulb but scared void warranty..anyone change the light bulb to something more brighter?  confused.gif
*
i'm using Philips RacingVision...
this is the brightest H7 bulb i can find without going LED/HID..

https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/12972RVS2/rac...-headlight-bulb

bought mine from ebay, shipped from UK.

How long have you been using it? I used Osram NBU, lasted less than a year only! blink.gif
*
about 2 months, and i'm aware of the short rated lifespan of about 200 hours..
was on a pair of Philips XtremeVision +130% before that for 2years+..

yeah, disadvantage of high performance bulb. You mean it burnt out after 2 years of usage?

How is the current bulb so far?
*
yup, the old pair burnt after 2 years+, and is quite consistent, as in, one side burnt, followed by the other side few weeks later.

the current bulb so far so good, it's is slightly whiter, and is slightly brighter than the older pair.

Mine is new LED type which before this I hate new cars with this type of light tailing me. Felt like they were high beaming on me laugh.gif . No I'm doing the same  tongue.gif

I cannot tell because everyone has their own ability on how dark they can see. I can consider myself able to see quite well in dark. I almost never use high beam. If you think it is not bright enough, just replace the bulb. Try to get the same wattage replacement but with better lumen bulb. This way you will not go over rated fuse for headlamp.  smile.gif
*
ever wonder why big brands never release retrofitted (H4/H7) LED headlight bulbs? (philips does release the ultinon series, but is marketed as off-road only)
because they cant get it approved by ECE and DOT, because based on the current technology, the LED beam pattern can never pass the certification.
and XV doesnt have projector lens, which will make the glare worse...
most of the time it's glare from opposing or tailing traffic that cause momentarily blindness, which is dangerous, not your own headlamp that is "too" bright..

btw, for those that dont mind cheap stuff, i personally find the silicone wipers sold in Mr DIY is gooding..
i've tried many different wiper brand(including some expensive ones from Korea and US) but none clean as good as the cheap silicone wiper. RM15.9 per piece..

only thing remaining to be seen is how long they last..

I'm sure N can be improved easily if you're willing to spend, compared to V and H which is highly dependent on the platform you're working with...

https://www.sti.jp/parts/forester_sj/wheel/

Japan got both 17" & 18" size STI rims. I believe local market mostly are 17" for sell to Xv at first and both Forester & Xv can be used. Heard that STi rims are more lighter compare to originals.
*
not worth going for unless u die die must have the STi branding, these are essentially Enkei made flow-forming cast aluminium wheels.
plenty of other choice at the price that MI is asking for.
the real deal STi lightweights are BBS made forged aluminium wheels, and MI will probably charge you triple the amount.

So in conclusion not worth it la?

How do we know whether it is an Enkei or BBS?
*
they'll mention BBS, and its forged.

Are you sure the caliper is making the rattling sound?  shocking.gif
Usually the rattling sound from uneven surface is either from the anti-roll bar bush, lower arm bush, steering rack bush or worn absorber mounting..
The caliper is the 1 that hold the brake pads on the brake rotor, usual issue for calipers is either got sound or vibrate a lot when applying the brakes.. I think ur case is quite rare, did you request outside mechanic to help check the calipers? Sometime it might have some loose screw in?
*
my old set does rattle when going over uneven surface, and the rattle goes away when brakes are applied. after upgraded to forester XT's brakes the noise is gone. I've asked my mech before and he confirm its coming from the caliper, and i trust his words as he's one the famous subaru "doctor" in singapore.

yes I would think so as well
Agree with you. I guess that's how they can sell cars at cheaper price to build ownership and then knife u on parts later on?
*
Which is why if you ask any subaru owner in SG, none of them will go back to MI for servicing after warranty ends, and there are many popular workshop that specializes in just subaru to serve the subaru community in SG.
They are really that bad.. and it's a pity Subaru is solely distributed by them in the whole SEA.

Not sure if Subaru is running sales in Spore but seen alot of Forester here in sg too XV not so much

The new XV looks smaller than I expected. Actually smaller and lower than the previous gen. I think it's called Imprezza Crosstrek instead of XV
*
forester XT is a no brainer in SG because of the pricing, used to be around S$120k for a very long period.
MI upped the price to 150k now.

the new XV is actually bigger, and lower than the old XV, and the width and length are exactly the same for XV and impreza cause they are essentially the same car, with jacked up suspension and plastic trims on the side for a more rugged look.

Subaru Ascent launching this month too in LA auto show. Largest Subaru model yet with 7 seater

Hope they'll bring here too against Mazda CX9
*
0.0001% they'll bring it in...
MI dont even want to bring in their bread and butter model impreza to compete with T and H.
what makes you think they'll bring in the luxury and huge ass Ascent to compete with CX9?
it'll highly likely to remain a US market only product, just like how the Honda pilot, toyota highlander never came here...

i think you'll have better chance of asking them to bring in the impreza instead as that'll likely sell better than ascent. biggrin.gif

The cheapest Subaru car is the Imprezza and XV. Given that I think MI would not want to sell below the RM100k.

Nope... betcha didnt know that subaru did make kei-cars too... biggrin.gif
there are still a lot of Subaru R1 and R2 running around in singapore, and the successor is called Subaru Lucra

R1 and R2

Some Qs:

1. What is body and chassis rigidity? How does it affect the car? New XV has 70% rigidity.

2. Does the old XV has Active Torque Vectoring?
*
1. Chasis rigidity = how stiff is the chasis. The new XV has 70% higher rigidity compared to the older model, means its 70% stiffer. U see people add a lot of additional bars everywhere in their car? those are to stiffen up the chasis.

2. The older XV doesnt have Active Torque vectoring. Only the older STis have it in the past.

Torque Vectoring: Ford Focus Mk3 have it since 2012. Mazda introduce it in the local models recently.  smile.gif
*
Only in the Focus RS, which is equivalent to WRX STi...

and Mazda's version of G-vectoring control is not exactly the same as Active Torque vectoring, what it does is reducing engine's torque output (as a whole, not to individual wheel) when you are entering a corner, generating a maximum of 0.05g of deceleration to help the front grip better.

The so called active torque vectoring in the new XV and Imprezas are actually what i'd call the passive way of implementing torque vectoring, because it works by applying brakes on the axis the require less rotation, eg: in a left corner, the left wheels will require less rotation compared to the right, thus it applies brakes on the left to help it steer in more stably.
While the active way are the ones that utilizes active engine torque distribution via electronically controlled differentials (eg: the Evos) where they can independently vary the amount of torque to each wheel to make it turn faster in a corner.

well, different design for different applications..
