My driver of the day goes to Lewis Hamilton. He was the only one fighting at the top...

Alonso had it easy from the start, the moment Hamilton held up Massa and Kimi, alonso already had the entire race on his side. He just had to bring the car home, thats all, which is what he's been doing for the pass 2 years anyway.

Massa looks like he can't stay focus whenever he's behind other cars. He got of slow, slowed too early into turn one and there was no attempt to fight into turn 1. Kimi got held up and both Ferrari are compromised. After his accident, seems like massa's confidence got dented more than his car is, can't even beat BMW

Kimi didn't quite fight alot too anyway. And Ferrari team mess his strategy up, unnecessarily fueled him up heavier and cost him to exit behind Fisi

Kimi did say that the team need to compromise a lot (regarding the engine thing) no speed and all.

New engine in Bahrain.
Kimi on pole this time and not Massa  whistling.gif
*
Yeah, thats one positive thing out of this race. Pass 3 weeks we've been worried about his engine. and finally, it went through fine. A podium is better than engine burning in smokes tongue.gif

QUOTE(kapitan @ Apr 8 2007, 06:46 PM)
Both McLaren were good today esp in 1st corner and 2nd corner. There's nothing Raikonen can do with that kind of fuel load. I tot the team would put him on medium compound as the fuel load was enormous but they didnt.
*
Yep. Both his 1st and 2nd should be hard with the extra fuel.

Seems like our strategy went wrong after McLaren overtook both ferrari and ferrari had no answer to it.

why hasn't ppl put some blame on the ferrari team as well

well it seems that ross brawn is on a sabatical

and the way i see the two ferrari driver came out of pit straight into the back of a bmw/williams/??? and renault shows wrong calculations by the current technical director Mario Almondo

It seems to me that it is quite massive mistake after a mistakes
*
indeed the pit stop isn't correct at all. The strategy planned earlier got ruined when both driver drop behind Lewis and got held up while Alonso casually pull open a gap. It was a tough situation, but it appears that our strategist didn't have any answer for that.

True, but still it's a problem when wanting to secure other drivers. looking at the grid today, if they replace Massa with any drivers on the grid that is not a young gun (2 years of F1 experience or younger), they still cannot find a driver that is better. Heck, some of the oldies out there are overrated and overpaid (case study, the "I got paid more than the world champ" Ralf Schumacher).
Nico is a good target, but he has a long term future contract, adn looking back at Buttongate, Sir frank is not who you want to negotiate contract with
*
I think naturally top teams are more conservative when it comes to finding drivers, although I think Ferrari is more so compare to the rest. Lewis is very very lucky to be able to step straight into a top team car. Even Kimi and Montoya debuted with other teams. So did Alonso.

I think Flavio is still the best at spotting new talents lol, as he did with Schumi and Alonso. Only problem is that after making them into champions, he lose them to other team and his own team goes back to mid field.

So far his champion all have been very good drivers. Needless to say what Schumi has done for Ferrari, now seems like Alonso is putting McLaren back on top too.

anyone been to f1 yesterday? feel so excited when the cars swooshing over... amazing mclarens got the podiums!

Its only fun and exciting if ur at the circuit there watching

Watching it on TV, its been a boring race. Ever since FIA brought up the front wing and brought forward the rear wing, there's too much turbulence behind an F1 car that any car following behind cant generate enough downforce.... In short, there was no any action on the front... only overtaking for position nobody cares about...

same to me... dunno whats the problem with my heart beat.. keep on increasing... worry if he can overtake, and if the engine would fail him phew phew.. lucky still got 3rd and 6 points home
*
yep, actually many ferrari fans forgot about that... Kimi actually cross the line with no smoking engine, and he got a podium, which is the best the team could get after a series of mistakes and misfortune...

It seems the limit the engine RPM...

LOL Are those writers Ferrari fans or something rolleyes.gif
1st of all the British anthem has always been used when McLaren wins. Their centre is in Woking, ENGLAND
And seriously they got to try better if they think McLaren will fall for all that nonsense.
Kimi and Massa are more likely to be at each other's throats than Alonso and Hamilton tongue.gif
*
QUOTE(mcchin @ Apr 11 2007, 09:35 PM)
of course
cause if mclaren lose
there will be no anthem laugh.gif

Added on April 11, 2007, 9:38 pmplus the first "story" is from Bild "newspaper"

AFAIK
that news paper is the one frequantly quoting MSC word/interview

so basically a pansy horse fanboy
*
Actually, a ferrari fan couldn't care less what anthem they wants to play for McLaren.

Merc holds 40%. The majority of the rest belongs to Ron and co. Fair enough if they wants to plan London's song.

What does ferrari have to do with Bild anyway. not that anyone takes them seriously (or so I heard among the tifosi) smile.gif This has nothing to do with team rivalry if the first place, and u'r attempting to stir up some ruckus laugh.gif

I don't think we'll ever hear the German anthem again for a very long time lol. I understand if the German's F1 fan will start to miss it but that's just the way it is...

A guy of his caliber is very hard to be humble. Can't blame him though, he swap the track for alonso again this weekend, his 2 time world champion team mate... Who can stay humble like that user posted image

Starsports cut off the press conference half way... shakehead.gif

Anyway congratz to Massa. Overtaking was insanely hard at the front, except if u'r Nick apparently, which is frustrating to see Kimi got stuck behind Alonso. But the good thing was Kimi was about 1 lap more fuel than alonso yet slightly faster than him.

This race was one of the more fun race to watch, lots of action and some smokes too. Still... i can't wait till next year, no traction control...

Lots of cars skidding  cool2.gif

Suits Hamilton's drifting style.  tongue.gif

I wouldn't say so sweat.gif

when a car is sliding round corners like that, without TC, you'll have to be very careful with accelerating out of corners, because that's what TC is all about. They help acceleration when the rear wheel is lacking grip. Without it, driver may have to wait longer before accelerating out of a corner, as compare to a smooth driver who have his rear wheel in grip through the corner.

the same commentator who said "Massa pulling away from Lewis" after the screen shows Lewis gap to Massa for 3 laps in green laugh.gif

I don't find that logical at all. Alonso just lost his championship to kimi and lewis, and lewis didn't even need to win any race. With 2 championship already, I'm sure Alonso knows how to focus more on his championship rather than trying to win at Spain only. everyone at the front will be using the same engine, so there's really no reason for him to throw away a win to save the engine...

yeayea...even kimi use pit stop to overtake...not on track...

Nick mentioned that Alonso made mistake, that's why he manage to pass him. If not for that mistake, the front cars are not able to overtake each other. Blame it on the FIA changes to the car regulation. Now they capped the engine at 19k rpm, so drivers cant overdrive the engine for a short moment to make an overtaking move. Not to mention the raised front wing...

no laaa..imho i don't think alonso make that mistake...his car really not in good shape, heidfield overtake him from the outside line of a corner...

From Nick's post race comments,
Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber (4th):
"I feel fantastic. Currently I have a good car, a good team, I can drive good races and I really enjoy this. Before the race I didn't think I could overtake Fernando (Alonso), but in the second stint I was a bit quicker than him because I had one more set of fresh tyres than him. On the other hand, Fernando had the better top speed. I had to wait until he made a mistake, which he did in corner 13. For the team it is extremely important that both cars finished the race and scored points. I think here we were even stronger than in Malaysia, which is surprising as our car has not changed in the past week. Obviously the track suited us and I had a very good set-up."
